I am rejecting this response because:First I would like it to be known that have I given full authority to my son-in-law to deal with this situationI, *** ***, *** ***' son-in-law, called the local *** *** water heater distributor, *** ***, and spoke with them concerning the situationI asked if it was possible to replace just the pilot assembly on an *** *** Model# *** Serial #***They said with that model it is not only allowed but recommended by *** *** to replace just the pilot assembly due to the cost of the materials that would have to be passed on to the customerI then asked if the pilot assembly was a commonly stocked item, they said yes they always have plenty of themSo, in response to MrW***'s comment of “ you cant replace any part of it in *** *** water heaters” is and an attempt to hide his incompetency and lack of knowledge on *** *** water heatersNow it is unfortunate MrW*** may be unable to return the burner assembly to the place he purchased it from, but that is not our problemHe replaced a part that wasn't necessaryThe part is still usable on a water heater that does need it to be replacedMrW*** may have to carry the part on his vehicle for possible future necessary stockWe are not asking MrW*** to refund his cost to install a part that was unnecessary, just the cost of the part itselfAgain the only fair and equitable solution to this situation is for MrW*** to pick up the part and give a full refund for the charge of the burner assemblyI do agree that the fuse-able link was compromised and needed to be replaced, however the cause was the dirty combustion chamber and inlet screen at the bottom of the chamber not a gas control valve, which it it had overheated would have caused the Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve (T&P) to release water onto the mechanical room floorThis is an extremely common problem with the *** *** water heatersI have found that through my service calls that the majority of combustion issues of *** *** water heaters is caused by the design of the combustion air inlet screenIf he would have returned any of my several calls on the 8th of August or thereafter we may have been able to avoid this.Sincerely, *** ***

[redacted]in regard to complaint of [redacted], aug. 4/16 got call water heater didn't work . went to [redacted]...

[redacted]. talked to lady , his wife I presume. heater would not light, I removed burner assembly, it had burnt fuseable link in thermocouple. you cant replace any part of it in [redacted] water heaters, change burner assembly is only option. I told her that they was a possibility that the gas valve could have stuck on , and cased this. the only thing I could do was change burner assembly and try it.    the next morning she called said no hot water. so I went to hose checked it out. it light up fine . I told her it must be gas valve that caused this problem. so she said replace it ,so I went to supply house to get part, then she called back and said forget it , her brother was going to change it. the burner assembly is not returnable after installed and used.  Thank You, Jerry W[redacted]Sent from Windows Mail
