County Plumbing Restoration and Rooter Reviews (%countItem)

Fidelity Home Warranty dispatched County Plumbing to deal with a sewage leak. They snaked our mud room toilet and while doing so from the outside into the bathroom, they shattered our toilet and damaged the baseboards. They then gave us their solution: destroy the decorative pavers to replace the line, estimated costs about $6k. We called another plumber and they were able to fix in 15 minutes. County agreed to order us a new replacement toilet in kind the next day. When we inquired with Fidelity, they said no such order was made on our behalf. When confronted, they agreed to reimburse us for the toilet and damages, and sent us a check made out to my wife's maiden name for an amount that didn't equal the replacement toilet. They said we needed to get 3 quotes for replacement toilets and for repairs to the baseboards. On April 1, we sent them a letter returning the incorrect check, and demanding a check for the full amount owed to us: $951.40. I also emailed them that day confirming the check was returned with the soft copy letter attached. They didn't return my emails confirming receipt of our mail, then blamed Covid for not responding when I called the office. We finally received 2-money orders from them on July 16 totaling only $760.

We were sent out by their home warranty. We did acknowledge the problem to the toilet at the property. We did not submit it through the home warranty because it was our responsibility to take care of the problem. We did order a new toilet but after seeing multiple slanderous posts online we did not want to send anyone else to their home into a hostile environment so we did cancel the parts & offered to send cost for repairs instead. We got 3 cost estimates for repairs, We also did ask the home owner to get 3 bids for cost comparison, which they never did. They took it upon themselves to move forward with the repairs they wanted after we explained we would need 3 bids for cost comparisons & they did not want to provide those to us. So, in response, we had no choice but to go off of the cost comparisons we received on our own & shared those with them prior to any work being completed that they chose to do. We sent a check made out to the home warranty policy holders name. They said it was insufficient. Once we received the uncashed check back, which took months to receive, management was able to look into the cost & did send a new check higher then the previous one. We did send them money to have repairs completed, only thing we asked was to please get 3 bids for cost comparison which they never provided so we went off of what we had.

Customer Response • Jul 28, 2020

I am rejecting this response because: The cost of the toilet and install alone was more than the funds they sent to us. Also, there was 1 post from my wife that recapped the situation, 'slanderous' is a stretch.

Totally UN- PROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!! No courtesy call with a window of 8am-11:am (I work graveyard).
Demeanor of Tech was awful, like he was annoyed, didn't want to do his job>? Didn't do nothing
ended up leaving saying he had to call his office? This Company ONLY excepts CASH???
(red flag) Answering service a joke??? Calling this company was a JOKE! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! Something just doesn't seem right??????

Horrible untrained techs and the owner is a complete it and poor excuse for a business owner.

We had a leak under our home and our Home warranty company referred us to use County Plumbing. The Plumber came out and quickly acknowledged the leak but wouldn't go under the home until water restoration was completed. Offered his company to do the work or we could hire a different company. We decided to hire *** to complete the water restoration. When *** assessed the situation, they said it was hardly wet under the house but charged us $325 for the diagnostic and poured some "kitty litter" over the water and said it was fine for the plumber to complete his job. A week later (and no ability to use my sink) County plumbing finally came back and competed their quote for the job. Later that day I received a call from the warranty company about County's quote. They said the repair required 2 technicians, 27 feet of pipe, excavation of piping and it would take them all day to complete the job. The warranty company would cover everything except the $350 charge to excavate the pipe. Our home is a raised foundation, so the excavation of piping seemed wrong, however, never being under my home and not knowing if this was true, we agreed to the charge so we could have our leak fixed. Over a week later (now two weeks of not being able to use my kitchen sink) the technicians from County plumbing showed up at 11:30am and were done by 1:30pm. They were done so quickly, my husband questioned the excavation of the piping and was told from Dillon the tech, there was no excavation done. So we paid $350 for something that was not completed. We called our warranty company and told them what happened. They called County Plumbing and were told it wasn't for excavation, the $350 was for them to gain back access to piping (removing of house siding, etc). So the warranty company told us that they would not reimburse the fee because it was between us and County since County charged the $350, not them. We fought with them on this point because we wouldn't have gone with this plumber if it weren't for the warranty. But they were not helpful and would not give us a copy of the original quote, showing the $350 charge and what it was quoted for. My husband and I tried to resolve it with County on multiple occasions, only to be met with rudeness and sarcasm and refusal to provide us what the $350 charge was actually for. We also climbed under our home and found that the leaky pipe was approximately 5 feet from the man hole opening and no "back access" or excavation was done or needed to reach and repair the pipe. We took pictures to show the 27 feet of pipe they charged the warranty company for was actually only about 3-4 feet total. I have even consulted a Legal Shield Lawyer who has mailed out 3 Demand for Refund Letters, with no response. We are unsure of what we can do at this point, except take them to small claims, which would just be MORE MONEY out of our pockets. Neither the warranty company nor County Plumbing will provide us with the original quote for the job, which substantiates the $350 charge. We feel like this was FRAUD and don't know what to do at this point. So we would like a copy of the invoice to prove we owed the money. If not, we want a refund of the $350.00 paid to County Plumbing.

Our services were retained by the complainant's home warranty. Their home warranty covered everything for the repair the leak under the house, in the crawl space except for a "non covered" cost of $350. We were informed by the their home warranty to charge this dollar amount, to the home owner & from the cost we submitted that this would not be covered. We charged the homeowner, what the home warranty told us they will not cover. The home owners were informed, prior to the repair being completed, of the charges, by the home warranty & by our company. The home owners gave us credit card info & autho over the phone, along with signing our invoice, for the charges on the day the job was completed. The charge was not for any type of excavation, excavation for us & the home warranty, is with heavy equipment, which we did not require heavy equipment. The technicians were able to uncover the pipes by using tools that we were able to get into the small crawl space area located under the home we had to work with. The home owner was not charged for anything else other then this & what the home warranty considers a non covered amount for the repair to have been completed. The home warranty paid for the labor of time for the 2 technicians to complete the job, along with the length of pipes that were replaced at the time of the repairs. We never stated anything about removing house siding, as we do not offer services like that. The home owner was charged for what the home warranty said was not covered by them & the home owner was informed by the home warranty prior to services being completed along with signing an invoice for the charges prior to completion. We do not receive copies of the home owners warranty policies & nor we know what the policy will & will not cover. We call into the home warranty with our diagnosis & then they tell us a dollar amount of what will & will not be covered & they do not itemize that for us. Nothing was fraudulent, as the home owner was charged the exact amount of money, they were quoted, by the home warranty & by out company, for the job to be completed by our company.Sent on: 3/28/2018 4:51:58 PM
