I would like to see where the problem exists.....if it is somewhere other than the repaired area on left side of garage then it is something different than what was original complaint was about.

The issue of wood problems was pre-existing to roof installation. Flashing repair was actually was a correction of when house was built...bottom of 1st flashing was behind siding, not in front. Double layer at outer corner in question is actually starter course of both the rake starter and gutter...

starter. Midwest on bag is actually the area where shingles are manufactured & was still a Owens Corning wrapper. You cannot use architectural shingles as starter course. The sand may be from loose granules that come off shingles when roof is installed and not washed out if gutters are improperly sloped. Owner is trying to make us do repairs and be responsible on pre-existing problem before roof was installed.

I am rejecting this response because: He's talking like a roofer and I don't know the jargon.  But I do know that a new roof isn't supposed to drain water onto your house.   And I do know he didn't update the flashing in that same area.  I also know that you're not supposed to cut shingles too short so that they drain water directly into your gutter box. Also, there was only one gutter that had 3/4" of sand in it, and that was the "Midwest" section the roofers were installing at the time of the conversation.  With regard to the double shingle I mentioned, I didn't remove it, but I don't understand how water's going to go up and over a shingle before it flows downward into the gutter.  It seams like it would just roll off the nearest low point on the side.  And that shingle was in the area or row closest to the outside, the edge.
