I am Active Duty Military and my family and I live in Military Housing that is located out in town (Virginia Beach, VA) Cox is literally the ONLY internet option we have No other company offers internet service in my housing are; which I find to be quite suspect Anyway, since we have an obvious need for internet we have had Cox for the two plus years I've been stationed here At no point in time have I ever felt we got anywhere close to the service we pay for Everytime I call in (usually over an hour on the phone I can never get back on hold then eventually explaining in circles the same thing the last representative has already done) I never end up with a solution I end up with "Upgraded Packages" that NEVER meet details outlined in their packages I am currently paying for Premier Internet service and I am supposed to have download speeds "up to" mbps and I consistently get between and mbps (hard wired connection directly into the modem) everytime I run a check on speedtest.net I own my own [redacted] modem and [redacted] Wireless router that are both highly researched, top quality products Whenever they run their "modem test" and reboot they say my equipment is off the charts and never have a good explanation as to what is going on yet, here we are, paying for service we never get They are sending someone out to look into it, but I am almost certain it has NOTHING to do with my residence or area seeing as almost everyone with their service consistently complains on the internet about how terrible it is I see no answer or fix in sight and am absolutely disgusted that everyone that has their service has to deal with the same exact issues I am considering writting the Governor of Virginia's Office looking into a possible monopoly in my housing area and requesting an investigation into this situation that hopefully leads to reimbursement for damages and identifies the problem at hand I will absolutely, without a doubt, NEVER recommend Cox to anyone I know or meet

Cox has a monopoly on internet service in our area, making it impossible to get even basic internet service without accepting their prices and terms The promotion system is a trick/trap to allure new customers with low prices, however promotions expire after months and the actual value of the service is not made available to customers until they already have an account/service with Cox The internet service cuts out about 2-times a day for approximately minutes at a time Being that Cox is the only internet service provider in our area, there is no competition or incentive to drive Cox to want to better their customer service, and internet service for our areaPlease bring a competitive market to internet service providers!

I end up with "Upgraded Packages" that NEVER meet details outlined in their packages. I am currently paying for Premier Internet service and I am supposed to have download speeds "up to" 150 mbps and I consistently get between 35 and 60 mbps (hard wired connection directly into the modem) everytime I run a check on speedtest.net. I own my own [redacted] modem and [redacted] Wireless router that are both highly researched, top quality products. Whenever they run their "modem test" and reboot they say my equipment is off the charts and never have a good explanation as to what is going on yet, here we are, paying for service we never get.
