Around January of 2018, I had my 2011 *** brought in for an engine replacement at Cowett’s Auto. *** worked on the engine and replaced the engine. I was informed by an employee that the original transmission in the vehicle had something break when he started up the replacement engine. This repair was supposed to include an engine/transmission package and when he had to put in a used transmission, he charged me and extra $700, even though the agreement was for a engine/transmission package. The original bill was $1500.00. When I took the vehicle home after this repair, the transmission was leaking and it was also leaking water. I returned; he replaced the transmission fluid and sent me home. In April, I brought the vehicle back for repair and he replaced the water outlet/thermostat housing. As soon as I left the facility, the car started bucking and misfiring and would not accelerate. It couldn’t climb a hill. I returned the vehicle to him in May...one month later. I waited a month, because I was afraid to drive it and it was expensive to add unexpected expenses to my budget.
At this point, he stated that the car was bucking and not accelerating due to a mouse nest in the air filter and he put in a used cool pack, spark plugs, added more transmission fluid, a new mass airflow sensor and an air filter for over $500. After leaving the business, the exhaust was rattling and loose. It began bucking worse and wasn’t accelerating and I couldn’t climb hills at all. All the fluids were leaking and I was very frustrated. I contacted him again and I noticed on the bill that he said the transmission might need resealing. He replaced this transmission and he added fluid twice and my car continued to be undrivable.
In August I returned to Cowetts and he repaired the exhaust for $168. I was charged over $3000.00 dollars for a car that is not drivable and is in worse shape than when I brought it in for repair. I have sent a letter to his business expressing my concerns and no one replied.
This customer claims that she had sent a letter to our company regarding concerns about our service. This letter was never sent to us and we never heard any complaints on behalf of the customer. She claims she spoke to us on 7/29/19, but returned to our shop 8/19/19 for more work without ever bringing up her complaint, and spoke to us on the phone on multiple occasions between those dates. The problems this customer has with her vehicle is not a result of our work, but rather the repairs that still need to be done. We have been cooperating with this customer and have in fact financed her invoices, providing her ample time and opportunity to comfortably make payments after the work had already been done. We have signed invoices from this customer expressing authorization, payment arrangement, and satisfaction of her repairs. Had she brought her complaints to us, we would have worked with her, and would not have the invoice stating satisfaction with our services, or her consensual payment arrangement for ongoing services. We have actively worked with this customer to make her repairs possible and provided accommodations to her on more than one documented occasion.
