Cox's Old Colony Plumbing & Heating Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below.
Response to Revdex.com complaint Mr. [redacted]’s response is not only inaccurate but extremely disappointing. First Mr. [redacted] installed a tankless water heater without securing proper permits with the town. As a licensed professional he has an obligation to secure these permits. He has place the homeowner in a potential dangerous situation. He also installed unlicensed electrical work in our home which is also a very dangerous situation. I must now hire a contractor to come out and inspect the work that was performed. This is an additional cost that the homeowner must incur. I have detail notes pertaining to all our correspondences, time stamp pictures of when Mr. [redacted] and his subcontractors started work, when materials arrived at the house and how long work was conducted. Mr. [redacted] did not perform $6000.00 worth of work. 1.    The sheet rock was installed incorrectly and placed by gentlemen Mr. [redacted] contracted off of [redacted]. He had NEVER seen these men before nor seen their work according to them. We will have to re-hire someone to complete properly.2.    The electrical sockets that were installed not by a licensed electrician, which endangers our home and makes up subject to insurance lost if an electrical fire was to occur. Not to mention, it’s not on our original plans of our home which could make it difficult to sell our home in the future. On date 3/14/2016, Mr. [redacted] called us in regards to installing an on-demand hot water tank. The job was completed on the same day, and the customer had hot water as promised. ·         The above statement from Mr. [redacted] shows his lack of care and attention to this matter. Mr. [redacted] was contacted March 9, 2016 as well as other water heater companies within the area to repair a water heater.  He called us back and we agreed to have his company come out to inspect why out heater was no longer working. He upsold us on a Tankless water heater and the work begun on March 10th, not March 14th as stated. As a professional in the HVAC & plumbing field, Mr. [redacted] should have informed customer that permits should be pulled and filed with the town. Customer then asked us to engage in a contract installing drywall and electrical in his basement. Price was given for installing electrical and drywall in basement at $10,500.00. We received $6,000.00 down, which we immediately engaged in production of installation starting with supplying and installing electrical outlets per code in basement. This consisted of 2 days labor as well as $500.00 in material.·         Incorrect. We signed a contract March 19, 2016 and paid him March 22 2016 and work did not begin until March 24th which was the installation of unpermitted electrical work. Drywall was not delivered until March 29th.  Work was NOT started immediately. We can provide time stamped photos. Contract (1) a complete basement remodel for 11,500.00. The pricing dropped to 10,500.00 minus the spraying of the ceiling paint. Contract was revised to include dry-walling, which included rough in and finish whole bathroom and basement. Rough in plumbing and finish for kitchen, install flooring in basement. Additional contract consists of insulating and installing drywall on ceiling includes taping, finish and painting includes all necessary heat supplies in basement.  At no time throughout the process did we stop work or inform MR. [redacted] or his subcontractors to stop work. Only when a notice (by whom we still do not know) was left in our mail box on 4/5/2016 informing us to contact the building department immediately as the renovations taking place at our house may be performed by unlicensed workers and not properly permitted. We immediately inform Mr. [redacted] that we had to stop the work and contact the building inspector.  ·         March 29th dry wall was delivered (can provide time stamped photos) and we agreed March 30th. Work had never been stopped at this time. Currently we are 3 weeks in.We supplied and installed drywall in basement, as well as building a wall that wasn't part of the contract at the foot of their stairs. Almost complete with the drywall installation, the customer stops job, decides he wants to engage in having ceiling drywall, as well as proper lighting installed in the basements ceiling. We sent Mr. [redacted] an additional quote for that. At this point, we are 5 days into the job, Mr. [redacted] stops the job again, decides against having ceiling and lighting installed. ·         Wall in the basement was discussed and installed. On March 30 2016 Mr. [redacted]’s workers [redacted] and [redacted] texted to have us come to the basement to take a look at the new wall. Since it was discussed, there wasn’t conversation about their not having to erect a wall. Also, they would not have built one if that was the case.Of course this was after we had already purchased $400.00 worth of ductwork supplies to supply heating in basement. ·         No receipts were provided.  Sent my heating installer out to install ductwork, customer stops job again, says that a permit is required for drywall. I had called city previously inquiring about permits, inspector said at that point a permit wasn't needed for we did not do a rough-frame. ·         Mr. [redacted] sent his HVAC/ductwork person after we already informed him of the letter stated above. He was aware that all work was on hold until we sorted out the proper work permits. Mr. [redacted] had changed his mind several times on the job; first combining jobs to get a great price, then dropping additional work off, expecting to get other work done at even cheaper rates. ·         I believe Mr. [redacted] is referring to the negotiation process. He made suggestions to the work which we accepted or rejected throughout the initial process. Mr. [redacted] would have to elaborate because there are only two walls of drywall completed. We only have one updated contract, not several as indicated. Where does Mr. [redacted] think that we are going to do 5 days’ worth of drywall (labor and materially), and 2 days’ worth of electrical work (supplies and material) for free? I feel we have done $6,000.00 worth of work over there, and that concludes this explanation.·         This is how Mr. [redacted] speaks to his customers. We’re pleasant people by nature, so it’s clear that they took their time on this job and took advantage of us. We have written documentation from one of the workers that we are pleasant people to work with. Mr. [redacted] says that we’re even at $6000.00?? We feel as though we were stolen from. We reached out to Mr. [redacted] by text, phone call, certified letter (which he sent back to us) and email to have an amicable end of this situation and he has not responded until Revdex.com contacted him. Our last correspondence from Mr. [redacted] was on 4/15 9:58am.  We seek a fair settlement/resolution in this process. We want the work performed properly permitted by another contractor that is not affiliated with Mr. [redacted] or any of his contractors. We are now losing more money than the $9,200 (water heater/deposit for basement remodel) giving to Mr. [redacted]. As of today Mr. [redacted], Randolph Building inspector indicated that he has not heard from Mr. [redacted] in regards to the electrical work performed and the installation of the tankless water heater. We are extremely unhappy customers and we intend to seek all avenues until we are made whole.  Revdex.com please let us know what documentation you would like. As mentioned we can provide time stamp photos, signed contracts, letters from 3rd parties etc, we can provide a before and after video of work performed along with the materials left for your review. The work performed was not worth $6,000.
Regards,
[redacted]
