Cozz's Auto Body & Service, Inc. Reviews (3)

Review: About a month ago I used AAA towing services to tow my car to my mechanics house for some engine repairs. AAA uses Cozz's auto body off power road as one of their towing companies. Upon arrival the man towing my car (from Cozz's) hastily checked our information and did not even check to see if we were AAA members. My car had been sitting for a couple of months in front of my house so the tires were low on air (something I realized later). There are two types of tows: 1)a person towing can use a flat bad truck, so no tires are rolling behind the truck or 2) the car can be towed with it's two back tires on the ground. This man decided to let the two back tires roll behind the tow truck. On the way over to my mechanics house the rear left tire blew. Instead of pulling over the man towing my car dragged it and the rim was destroyed. He felt bad and he left his card with my mechanics wife. I decided to give Cozz's a call, expecting to receive full reimbursement. I was able to get a hold of their "damages" guy, his name was [redacted]. He proceeded to tell me that there was nothing he could do for me as far as reimbursement. He then told me that it was not their fault because my tires were "bad" already. My tires were not in poor condition. He then told me the same thing would have happened to my tires if I were driving. I surely would have pulled off of the road before my rim was damaged. [redacted] at Cozz's also told me that I should have requested a flatbed truck, and I should have known that I needed a flatbed truck in the first place. When I asked if they follow a protocol, he responded "no" and that it was the consumers responsibility to know what type of truck I needed in order to tow my car. In conclusion he told me there was absolutely nothing he could do. I was incredibly disappointed and frustrated. I do not feel that it was my responsibility to know which type of truck I needed, I would expect someone who tows cars daily to know that information.Desired Settlement: I would like a new rim that matches my rims now. If that is not possible I would like 4 rims that match, or the cash to buy these new rims. I would also like two new tires that match for my back rims. I feel I am not asking for more than I deserve.

Review: [redacted] from Cozz's showed up to tow my 1967 VW bus. He was driving Truck # 6406. From the start he had a bad attitude. I was explaining how it needed to be towed as it was not your normal run of the mill car. When he hooked our bus to pull it on the truck he bent the steering dampener. When we asked about getting it repaired he said its not his job. He called his shop and we overheard him say. . "It's a VW Bus, how am I supposed to know?" Really? ASK! When the main office was called they had the same attitude and said oh we have to fix it here. Umm no I can go to a shop of my choice.. CA LAW! They then hung up on us. This guy didn't even want to let us in the truck to go with him and stated "oh you are riding with me?" Umm yeah... You are our ride since you have our vehicle on your truck. He finally lets us in and we don't even get out of the parking lot and his office calls him. He turns around and drops us and our bus and leaves. We had to call another tow since none was called for us and wait another hour to get picked up. When we called back the office and got a supervisor we got the same attitude. I called this morning and spoke to the owner [redacted]. First off he treated me like I'm stupid cause I'm a female that does not take no for an answer. I informed him that the bus is now at a shop OF OUR CHOICE who specializes in VW repair. He was not happy about that. I also informed him that he had 2 choices, pay the estimate for gross negligence or be sued. He didn't like either and said have the shop email me the pics and I will decide from there.NO APOLOGY for his driver who abandoned us at location, his attitude OR his damage done to a classic vehicle. I will be contacting AAA and take further steps necessary to ensure this company is punished accordingly for their actions.Desired Settlement: Payment for estimate provided by my shop of choice and driver removed from vehicle or suspended for poor attitude.

Response:

In response to this complaint this AAA member did have her steering damper broke by the driver while hooking up the vehicle to tow. He called immediately to his supervisor to let them know the situation. He then continued putting the vehicle on the bed of his truck while being verbally attacked by the member. The member called the office and said she did not feel comfortable riding for approximately 45 minutes with this driver. So before he left the parking lot at Aero Jet he was told by his dispatcher after she received the call from the member that he was not to tow her. So he took the vehicle off the bed and the member was informed to call the shop to have the damages taken care of and to find another company to tow her vehicle.

She then called and asked for the supervisor which she again began using profanity and was told that she needed to stop or the conversation could not continue. She continued and the supervisor said have a nice day and hung up. Then this morning she called me the owner and told me of the damages and where the vehicle was being worked on. I asked her to have the shop take pictures and gave her my email to send them. She was also to have the shop fax over the bill for the damage.

I find out this morning talking to the driver she was with some man who she told to take videos and pictures of him taking the vehicle off the bed of his truck. I guess these were necessary so she could put a photo and caption of my employee on yelp. This employee is very easy going and we're glad that he showed up for work today because I'm sure we don't pay him enough for this abuse.

We have never denied the damage done to this vehicle (steering damper) or have we denied paying for it.

Response:

Revdex.com,

This damage was mailed and paid in full to this person on 3/24/14 the date we received her repair order via email. We never denied that our driver did damage while hooking up the vehicle nor have we ever denied paying off the invoice she would provide after the repair was done.

Thanks,

Consumer

Response:

Payment has been made. No apology received and poor communication from the owner. If there is a way to reprimand this business for the crappy attitude that would be more acceptable. We have discussed this situation with several friends/ business in the area and they have taken Cozz's off the list of vendors to use for towing. They did not appreciate the attitude of the driver/company after informing them of the situation and viewing the video; they feel there are other companies that deserve their high volume of business. I also reported Cozz's to AAA and our complaint will be noted and used as a factor during renewal of contract.

Review: this was a service call with AAA. for a lock-out for my car which is a 86 crstyler 5th avenue keys were in the car service driver came and attempted to open the car with a slim jim used on the passenger door with no results repeatedly pushing the device up and down to open the door, with no avail, so he went to the drivers side and it did open, as a result of using the slim jim on the door agressively it damaged it and it will not open. Triple AAA. told me to contact the cozz,s auto and see if they could fix it.I talked to the manager [redacted] and he said to bring it over, so I drove over and they looked at it the manager said they couldn't fix it and told me that the door had not been opened in a long time, which is not true, the fact is they did not want to fix it said there was a piece of the lock broken off, and insisted that the door had not been opened in a long time, so that it was not the fault of the service driver that came out to open the car. I was extremely upset that a manager of a business would deny the fact that it was their fault, and try to insist that the door had not been opened for a long time.Desired Settlement: that a locksmith fix the door, and work the way it was originally.

This AAA member called for a lock out on her 86 Chrysler when the service technician arrived the standard procedure is to unlock from the passengers door. After several attempts the lock would not release so he then went to the driver's door and unlocked it with the first attempt. Several days later she contacted us and we advised her to bring the car into the shop because her description of the problem sounded to be the lock rod may have been knocked off which is common. When the vehicle came in we removed the door panel on the passenger side and found all lock rods intact and a piece broken off of the latch which the broken piece was not in the door at all. This was explained to her that this is why the vehicle was not able to be unlocked on that side. By the appearance of the latch mechanism it looked to be missing for quite sometime. Also, because of all the spider webs around the latch it appeared it had not been working for awhile. When this was explained to her she was very rude and would not except our explanation. As part of our customer service if it would have been anything that the technician could have done we would of repaired it. Any more questions please feel free to contact me ###-###-####.
