The customer's roof was replaced in November, as a result of an insurance claim The insurance claim did not provide any funds to do any repairs to the customer's siding Bone Dry and the customer both have copies of the claim summary which provides for repair to the roof and some interior damage The customer's contract does not provide for any work being done to the siding, and the customer signed an order confirmation which confirms the scope of work covered by the contract; there is no mention of any work being done on the siding. The customer's current issues (which the customer first bought to our attention in 2014) relate to old fiber cement siding that has deteriorated in both the dead valley and in numerous areas all around the house Bone Dry has had several representatives explain to the customer that it is the siding, and not the roof, that is the problem Moreover, Bone Dry has explained that the customer must periodically remove debris from the roof Bone Dry has pictures showing damage to the siding in the other areas, as well as debris in the dead valley, which traps the water and directs it towards the siding Bone Dry performed its obligations under the contract and is happy to provide copies of the contract, insurance claim summary, order confirmation and pictures to the Revdex.com, but due to technical issues could not attach them at this time Please call the office at [redacted] if you would like copies [redacted] ***rBone Dry Roofing

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10687344, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
No, Bone Dry Roofing has not addressed the issue of the dispute Bone Dry's assessment that the dead valley roofing/leaking was due to problems with the siding (hardy plank) on our house came AFTER our new roof was completed and when we called to complain in The dead valley roofing was an issue that existed prior to our new roof being installed It had been an issue since we purchased the home in and other contractors had attempted to solve the issue Bone Dry representatives were definitely aware of this issue, and we chose them as "Master Elite Roofers" who assured us the issue would be fixed with the new roof, different flashing and ice and water guard There was no mention of cutting back the siding from the roof at the time If there was we certainly would have followed their recommendations, as we payed out of pocked for other things in the replacement of our roof such as fixing rotted wood soffits We would not have had a $33,roof installed and not payed to have the hardy plank cut back if that was the issue in this area The fact is Bone Dry assured us they could replace our roof and fix several issues and the dead valley roofing issue has not been properly addressed Complicating matters, we were told the initial salesman who sold us our roof (and saw all the problem areas) as well as the first production manager Terry who came to look at the dead valley issue in July no longer works at the company Terry initially told us he would talk to his manager to work with us for a solution We never heard back from him and were only told about solutions to cut back the hardy plank from around the entire house When we called, they told us Terry no longer worked there and sent out another inspector Bone Dry did not fix the dead valley roofing issue with our roof as discussed before hand in The solution to this area was not properly installed resulting in further damage to the house, as was confirmed by another Master Elite roofing company Bone Dry's claim that this area was not an issue until is simply not accurate
Regards,
Wendy Thompson

Bone Dry apologizes that the customer had a negative experience.  Bone Dry is willing to credit the add'l $[redacted] and would have done so with a phone call or email.  There is no excuse for not communicating or leaving cigarette butts or any debris on the job.  The job was initially done...

when it was cold, and the paint did not seal to the metal and some of the roofing did not seal around the edges.  When the production manager showed up after the initial call, the paint still looked good (it did not show signs of defects until it got warm), he sealed the shingles around the edge and sealed the area near the gutter that had leaked before.  Bone Dry did not apply patches; once the roof was sealed, it was water tight, including the area near the gutter.  Water would have had to run uphill for about a foot to become an issue.  When Bone Dry returned again after the paint appeared defective, Bone Dry scraped and painted the gutters and added another layer near the area of concern, not to "patch" it, but rather add another layer of protection.  Again, Bone Dry apologizes for their experience and is taking measures to make sure this type of experience is not repeated.

The issue with the dead valley has been a problem since the home was purchased in 2009.  It may have been just the roofing/dead valley, or the siding next to the dead valley may or may not have been contributing at that time.  Bone Dry mentioned 2014 because that is when we were contacted subsequent to the roof being installed in 2012.  Bone Dry fixed the roof portion of the dead valley; if not, it would have leaked after the first good rain but certainly within months of the roof being installed.   Bone Dry did not change the siding next to the dead valley, and the roof was replaced pursuant to an insurance claim.  Attached are the contract, order confirmation and insurance documents, none of which say anything about replacing the siding.Bone Dry has had several employees inspect the home since the roof was installed.  All have said the debris that accumulated in the dead valley has caused further deterioration of the siding, which is now leaking.  While that is the only area apparently leaking, the siding deterioration is evident around the house.  The customers have insisted that Bone Dry now fix the siding for free, saying it was or should have been part of the original job.  It was not part of the original job.  If Bone Dry had proposed to replace siding originally, we would have charged for it, and that has been our position all along.  It was not part of the contract and would not have been free then, so it would not be free now.Bone Dry's general manager discussed this with Mr. Thompson on or about December 8, 2014, (after the last employee visit to their house) when Mr. Thompson indicated the siding was part of the roof claim.  The general manager's email of that date reads:[redacted]As discussed, please send me a copy of the letters/documents your insurance company sent to you when they reviewed the problem you are having with the flashing/siding.  My fax is 513.984.0359 if that is easier.  Thanks.
[redacted] never responded, and Bone Dry assumed he located the paperwork and realized the siding was not part of the job.  The Revdex.com complaint is the first communication Bone Dry received after the 12/9/14 email.  At this point, Bone Dry does not want to do the siding work, even if paid.
