Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2015/12/08) */
Unfortunately, the record-keeping system that we were using at the time does not provide me with the date this customer originally dropped off her computer for repairs, but I do have her final invoice which shows that she picked up the
computer on Feb5, We did have to special order parts for this repair, so it is likely that we had her computer for approximately - weeks
We replaced the broken LCD screen and replaced a system fan that was noisy due to a bearing going out
It is hard to know how to respond to this complaint, considering it has been over months since she picked up her repaired PC
The claims this customer is making are nothing short of absurd
I don't understand her contention that her Blu-Ray drive is different from the one that was in her computer We did not make any other alterations to her computer other than the aforementioned repairs We replaced the screen with the exact same OEM part as the one she she had broken, as there is only the one part that will fit It was a WXGA++ 1600xLED backlit screen, exactly the same as the original screen
As part of all in-shop repairs, we do a thorough cleaning of all components, so that may be why she felt that her "scratches and identifying marks" were missing Most customers appreciate this service and respond by saying, "Wow, you cleaned my laptop, it looks like brand new!"
Of course we did not "load a virus" onto her computer, nor did we install any drivers, or any software at all This was a hardware-only repair
This idea that we somehow gutted her computer and replaced the components with lesser-value parts is just bizarre Laptops just don't work that way The components of her laptop model are specific to that specific model, and they are not interchangeable If we were to have replaced any components of her computer, it would have to have been with the exact same part numbers from the manufacturer, and there would be no reason anyone would do that
Furthermore, the customer keeps referring to her "$1,HP Computer," but the computer we repaired is a HP Pavilion dv7-4165dx, which when released brand new in had a MSRP of $(See: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2370653,00.asp)
She happily picked up her computer in February, paid for repairs, and then we didn't hear from her again until November, when she made all these strange allegations I told her that if she thought she had a virus on the computer, that we would be happy to clean it up for her and remove the virus, for our standard charge of $ Other than that, I'm not sure what else we can offer her
