About three years ago, we contracted to purchase a phone system for our business because the Avaya sytem we had was unsatisfactory. The reception and transmission was fuzzy and made it impossible for our receptionists to comfortably make and confirm appointments and for us to carry on a normal phone conversation.
After shopping around for another provider, we accepted a proposal from [redacted], president of CPT of South Florida who even came to our home to pitch his products and services. He was a pretty slick, elderly gentleman who persuaded us to accept a new and "higher quality" Avaya system that he guaranteed would be satisfactory and that he would personally deal with any service issues, should they arise.
Three years into a six-year installment purchase, we have yet to have satisfactory service. While the quality of reception and transmission were acceptable at the beginning, the service is no better now than it was when we replaced what we had, the installation was never completed satisfactorily (e.g., we must go to our front desk to get any voicemail messages because they cannot be received in the office, music on hold has never played properly, etc.).
The worst of it is that we have called many times, were told that someone would call us back and no one did; and we finally gave up calling.
At one point, we received a couple of service contract options in the mail for us to select and sign up for at an exorbitant fee. We were told, when we again called for service, that we would receive no service unless we had a service contract.
We told them then that we would never sign a service contract with any company that didn't perform its initial installation properly and provide acceptable service after it had been installed.
We have tolerated this situation too long and it has become progressively worse. We just called one more time, only to get the same response: "Mr. [redacted] will call you back." He didn't.
We are now in a position where we own a phone system that is unacceptable, still have three years to go, paying for it, and must shop for another provider.
I should have checked, when we purchased the system, to see if this company was Revdex.com Accredited; but we foolishly did not.
