C&R Contracting Reviews (2)

Recently C&R Contracting was hired to replace my bathtub and shower. They were extremely unprofessional. They started the job on [redacted] and only worked 4hours that day and came back on the [redacted] and worked another 4 hours. Then they did not come back until [redacted] again only working 4hours, also the same on the [redacted] and [redacted] Then they worked 4 more hours on the [redacted] My bathroom is still not finished and I have been without a shower for over 2 weeks. [redacted] the owner constantly had excuses on why he wasn't there. Not to mention he took it upon himself to drink all of my coffee, use and ruin several of my towels, use my dining room chair to stand on, make a complete mess of my carpet, covering it in compound, as well as, using my ice tea pitcher for compound and leaving compound all over my kitchen. He even left with my coffee mug that was given to me from my grandchildren. He never once asked my permission for anything. Then he has the audacity to tell [redacted] where I live that he will not finish the job unless he gets more money. I was not even able to stay in my apartment for over 2 weeks. He is extremely unprofessional and did a terrible job. He did not even use the correct sheetrock.Desired SettlementHe should pay my rent for the time I was unable to use my apartment, replace my bath towels that he destroyed, have my carpet and apartment professionally cleaned and he should not receive another dime from Oak Hill for the terrible job he did and the unprofessional nature. I have never in my life seen such a disaster.Business Response I, [redacted], owner of C&R Contracting, was hired by [redacted] (not Ms [redacted])to replace the existing tub to a shower in Ms. [redacted]'s rented apartment.Day 1: When I removed the tub, there was water leaking from the improperly installed fittings causing the water to leak into the dirt and not the sewer drain and decided to replace with new fittings at no extra charge to Oak Hill. I left the job and purchased all the new parts.Day 2: I replaced the fittings, set the shower base in [redacted] mix and left so it could set overnight.Day 3: [redacted] (from [redacted] asked me to remove the tile board for him (it was not on my contract to do so) and I did so at no extra charge. The sheet rock I used was what [redacted] had given me to install. Day 4: I completed the job according to my contract but when I turned the water on, water was not draining properly and realized there was blockage in the drain. It was not in my contract to clear the blockage, I did it on my own time and expense since I did not charge [redacted] to do this. Since the shower base was set, I could not take it up, so we took the walls down and tried to release the blockage by digging through an approximately 3" diameter with my hand and still couldn't release it so I used a snake and after hours, cleared the blockage, put the walls back up and the shower worked better than it ever had. When I first entered Ms [redacted]'s house, she offered me a cup of coffee and I accepted, she was leaving and told me she put a coffee cup on the Kerig and to help myself. The cup was still there when she returned and I told her I couldn't figure out how to work the coffee pot.I did not use any of her towels, what I did use was a whole roll of her paper towels and half a roll of toilet paper trying to wipe up the leakage. I offered to replace them and Ms [redacted] said not to worry about it.While I was using a torch in the bathroom, it set off her smoke detector and I ASKED if I could use her chair and she said absolutely. That was the only time I used her chair.I NEVER used her ice tea pitcher, I used the blue wastepaper basket that was in her bathroom to try and flush the drain.Ms [redacted] lives in a one bedroom apartment and I did use the kitchen to mix the compound. Any mess that was made, was cleaned up daily and Ms [redacted] offered me her vacuum to clean up. I have ALWAYS prided myself on a COMPLETE daily cleanup on every job.I feel I have gone above and beyond what I was paid to do and for this complaint to be brought here is insulting. Ms. [redacted]'s house was not dirty, but it wasn't spotless either. Futhermore, I was hired by [redacted] to do this job and was paid in full and the job was signed off as [redacted] knew I did more than what I was paid to do.Here is an example of Ms [redacted]'s character: [redacted] installed towel bars for her. She took a level and since it wasn't perfectly level, called [redacted] and had them re- install them perfectly. To the naked eye it was level.I am appalled that someone would insult someone who went out of their way to make sure the job was done correctly out of their own pocket just to try and scam free rent and a free house cleaning. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)[redacted] and her 2 daughters were at the apartment 98% of the time with [redacted] while the job was being done. In regards to purchasing additional items i.e. fittings, [redacted] took copper pipe from [redacted] to do the job, also he took sheetrock and liquid nails from [redacted] to do the job (he did not purchase it). I have pictures of the job as it went along. There is one fitting that should have been replaced which he didn't do. The reason the shower didn't drain properly is [redacted] did not cover the drain during demo and all of the debris went into the drain. So the blockage was brought on by him. She did offer him 1 cup of coffee not a help yourself which he did when we weren't there and left his dirty coffee cup on the counter. Now the coffee pot is leaking and not working properly and it is only 2 months old. [redacted] always has her clean cup under the coffee pot, for her use. In regards to the towels [redacted] left with one of her hand towels that he ruined, it was a small white one with a flower on it, plus ruining 2 more. It was tucked in his pocket and completely filthy. There were blue bath towels (2) through the house which were also used and ruined, one found in the kitchen and one on the bathroom floor (he would have had to go in the closet to get them). We keep the towels in a specific area. When [redacted] went into the kitchen the ice tea pitcher was on the counter not in the dish drain where is was suppose to be and covered in compound, as well as compound on her sink, sink sprayer her refrigerator, it was everywhere. Compound is even all over her carpet. [redacted] took the dining room chair without asking and used it to stand on in the shower while compounding (again witnessed by [redacted]). One day when [redacted] returned with [redacted], they had the tv on and there was a car book on the table and [redacted] said "oh [redacted] was looking at cars". The daily mess was cleaned up by [redacted], not by C&R. As far as a free house cleaning [redacted] is a disabled elderly woman who has someone who comes and takes care of her and her house i.e. cleaning so she doesn't need a free cleaning. Mrs. [redacted] did not have towel racks installed until [redacted] (by [redacted]), so this is a full blown lie. She is not out to scam anyone. If anyone is pulling a scam it is C&R. You can contact [redacted] in regards to her home. It is always spotless and things are always put away. [redacted] uses [redacted]'s home as a model home for inspectors and such. She is very meticulous about how she keeps her home. To attack a disabled elderly woman is disgusting and just goes to show the type of person he is. C&R sent messages to [redacted] stating they would not finish the job unless they got more money, which was seen by [redacted]. One of the messages was vulgar. The handicap bars are not even able to be installed in the shower as the job was not done correctly and no backing was put in place behind the surround. This was one of the main purposes of doing the shower. So now you have an elderly disabled woman with a shower she can't use. It has been 4 weeks since this process started. This is beyond unacceptable. [redacted] saw the mess that was left daily and were apprised of the daily going ons. [redacted] also had a difficult time getting [redacted] to show up. He would not even speak with [redacted] the [redacted] not answering her calls. [redacted] had to try and fix/finish the mess he made.

atleast once a week I get a phone call around 830 at night.once a week I get a phone call from the phone number XXXXXXXXXX which comes up as c & r contracting. they call at 830 and when I ask why they call so late they say theyre able to call until 900 pm. the whole time they are rude and even sound intoxicated. ive told them to stop calling and they still call. not sure if its a scam but very frustrated for ive got two kids that have been woken numerous times.Desired Settlementno more phone calls Business Response Good morning, I am writing this on my husband's behalf ([redacted], [redacted]). First I would like to apologize, this has been going on for the past 8 weeks. Eight weeks ago, his cell phone for his business line has been what Verizon has called "spoofed". They explained to him that a third party has purchased an app that allows someone to make [redacted]'s number show up on their phone as the caller ID. This third party has called people all over the United States and [redacted] has been getting phone calls from angry people every 20 seconds. [redacted] has been in touch with Verizon, the local police, local detectives and the FCC and nobody seems to be able to find who it is, and according to all of them, nothing they can do, they may be doing this from over seas. [redacted] has left a message on his voicemail apologizing to people who call him back explaining the situation. Verizon said that it usually only lasts a few weeks then the caller stops (not in this case). This is [redacted]'s established business line for the last 15 years and as a last resort he wanted to change his number but Verizon has told him even if he changed his number, his number will still show up on caller ID. I was hoping people would block his number after repeated calls since there is NOTHING he can do. Again we both apologize for this.
