We are in business to provide a service to the community.  We offer all natural, farm to table ingredients, and make most of our products in house.  We are proud of what we do, and will not subject ourselves to any more name calling or bullying by this sociopath.  Please consider this complaint closed.

This complaint is an unfortunate waste of time for all parties involved.  The individual filing this complaint has taken numerous steps to harass both my business as well as the property manager of the center.  He has fraudulently created a second Yelp account, and a fake Facebook page to...

post accusations and untruths about the business and me personally.  It has reached the point of slander so severe that I am considering legal action against this individual. We pride ourselves on creating our food in house, without the use of prepackaged or bulk items.  We get our produce and dairy from local farms.  We use steak trim to create our burgers, rather than regular ground beef.  We do things differently.  ALL of our pricing is clearly posted, and NOTHING is hidden... ever.  In this individual's complaint, he even admits that he was informed that our sauces have a charge to them.  That major contradiction is enough to show that this complaint is baseless and without merit.  I have attached his receipt, as well as pictures of our menu, and the sign right at the ordering location that describes our house made sauces, and how much they cost. This person requested mustard from the food runner as she was preparing to drop off his burger and fries, and she explained that we don't have mustard, but have a horseradish dijon that contains mustard seed, and that the sauce is 50 cents.  He yelled at her "that's it, I want a full refund".  He then got up and stormed to the front of the line of people that had been waiting, demanding his money back.  Meanwhile, his order was on the plate, waiting to be delivered.  He was beside himself that we had a caddy that contained salt, pepper and ketchup, but no mustard.  I explained to him that we don't carry yellow mustard.  He screamed "I'm calling the police!".  I then had his food packaged up to go, and asked him to leave.  He refused to take the food with him, continued yelling, and insisting on a refund.  I even told him that he was more than welcome to take the food with him to a place that might have the mustard that he was looking for.  He continued with his raised voice for another minute or two, and was asked to leave a few times.  He finally left the premises. This person ordered and paid for food that was prepared for him just as ordered, opened a bottle of tea that he paid for, and is not entitled to a refund just because we didn't carry a condiment that he desired.  This act of bullying that has taken place over the last week is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The owner's response is typical of his approach to customer service and business ethics, and explains why his previous restaurant failed -- and why he now excels only at staining the reputation of Village Faire and downtown Carlsbad. Add to his dubious talents the ability to lie to a degree that calls into question his stability and fitness to deal directly with the public in a commercial setting. You have to wonder: What type of individual would create such a fantastic narrative to justify holding on to a mere $20 that he knows he does not deserve to keep.It is true that I was outraged by the undisclosed nickel-and-diming that is part of the way he operates, and I did announce I was leaving to call the police as he scrambled to pretend the meal was suddenly ready. I've lived in New York City and Washington, DC and this was the first time in my life that I had ever been mugged! I certainly felt that I was dealing with a petty criminal. But his delusional account of a "storming," "yelling" customer who was told to leave is, again, symptomatic of something far deeper and troubling. Paging Doctor Freud. My amateur diagnosis would be that he really believes mustard is a "sauce," and that no one should ever be allowed to christen one of his exorbitantly priced burgers with a common condiment. In fact, customers should not even be permitted to consume these precious cow rumps, they are such masterpieces. Fortunately there's an unbiased jury that has been rendering a verdict on the unethical practices of this business -- the reviewers of [redacted]. Everything that happened to me has happened to many other customers, according to the [redacted] reviews. The undisclosed fifty cent charge for mustard. The undisclosed dollar charge for tap water. Many other sneaky surcharges, plus tax. In one emblematic incident, a reviewer describes how the waitress hovered over his mother, waiting for her to cough up 4 extra cents for the mustard tax after she had placed her two-quarter "tribute" on the table! For greater insight, read the [redacted] reviews of his previous Carlsbad restaurant, [redacted], which predictably failed. It isn't a storming, yelling condiment fanatic who is making the claim that he buried a mandatory 19 percent gratuity in fine print, then said nothing when patrons unaware of the charge left an additional tip. No, these are his actual (former) customers making the charge on [redacted]. And based on what happened to me, I believe them.Of course, like most unethical businessmen, this gourmet Gollum believes [redacted] reviews represent harassment. I hope he does take legal action, because he'll be swiftly countersued for fraud. Sadly, it's probably the closest he could ever come to legitimately calling himself a "sue chef"!
Regards,
[redacted]
