Review: This a complaint is for Craft Land Works, Inc. ([redacted], owner). [redacted] came out to my property on 5/13/12 and gave me a quote to remove and haul away existing mulch and pine needles; to grade and level backyard, ensuring proper runoff; to grind any remaining stumps in backyard (no cost); and to seed with contractors mix and straw the backyard ($100): total cost $1,000. [redacted] said my existing dirt would be used for the project. No extra dirt was needed, if so only one load (this was request in quote). On 5/22/12, I politely reminded him to send me a copy of the contract, proof of insurance, to schedule services for the following week. 5/23/12, I received requested documents. The proposal included everything discussed including a quote for extra topsoil if required ($300 per load with customer approval). The project took 2 days and was completed between 5/23/12 (proposal received) and 6/12/12 (invoice received). Payment was made in full by 6/19/12.After one heavy rain in July, water was pooling. I emailed [redacted] on 8/2/12 and attached a picture of that area and asked if he had stopped by on 7/31/12 as he planned. He didnt. [redacted] finally came out - I think in Sept. He was certain the leaves were restricting the water runoff, if not then the fence was damming the area. My husband and I were unable to consult our fencing company due to pending matters from 8/29/12 - 3/20/13. On 3/20/13, we spoke with a representative with our fencing company; the fence was not creating a dam. Weve been in contact with [redacted] since April 2013. When he came out 4/22/13 and he finally agreed to re-grade and come out the following week. Weve been calling since then. On 5/29/13 [redacted] said it will be $500 for coming back out first time mention the reason being was the ground has settled. [redacted] told me he is not responsible for acts of God or nature, read your contract. At one point he said, he doesnt have to come back out, weve already paid. My husband called on 5/31/13 one last time to resolve the issue.Desired Settlement: I informed [redacted] of the problem several times, the first being the following month of the work being completed. Proper runoff was never ensured, [redacted] only gave excuses. [redacted] said it would be $500 to re-grade. We would like a refund in the amount of $500 since proper runoff was never ensured as stated in contract.

I spoke with [redacted] from the company. He stated he is not the owner, but the foreman. The company came out last year and did several things for $1000.00. Ms. [redacted] contacted him stating the back yard was pooling after a heavy rain. Butch came out and noticed leaves were washed up against the fence and the the fence was causing the pool of water. The company has been to the property 3 times and has stated the yard is settling. The company feels that the grading was done properly, however they are willing to offer a refund of $500.00 to the customer.
