Craft Self Storage

Review: While we were moving away from [redacted] we ran into complications with our moving company and we were considering renting a storage unit for a month to make for an easier transition. After my aunt checked with Craft Self Storage to see if they had any units available, the operator said to submit a contact us through their website with our contact information and the unit size we were interested in and he would send us a contract to look over. After submitting the contact us form on July 10, the problems with our moving company worked themselves out and we opted not to use a storage unit, ignoring the e-mail and contract sent to us later that day by Craft Self Storage. Since we no longer had any intention of using a storage unit and there was no exchange of services, we neither signed and returned the contract or paid any deposit to Craft Self Storage and there was no further contact with the operator . On July 23, we received an invoice (from July 17) from Craft Self Storage for rent and a security deposit. Having never signed an agreement or finalized the lease for a rental unit, we emailed the operator stating that information and asking him to make sure everything was canceled in their system since we never finalized the agreement. After receiving a response claiming we did owe for the month of July, we called the next day (July 24) and left a message saying we were calling to clear up the confusion with an invoice for services we never used with a lease we never signed. The operator called back shortly after and after being told we never signed a lease and never used a storage unit, insisting we owed him for the month of July because he cleaned out the storage unit and he turned away other customers, then threatening litigation. On July 25, after checking over our email correspondence with the operator, we sent an e-mail restating that the lease was never finalized or signed and we were not going to pay the invoice. Operator then responded calling us deadbeat and threatening us.Desired Settlement: Receiving an email with a lease agreement does not signify our approval/consent to that lease or finalizing that agreement. If we intended to finalize the lease we would have followed up on that e-mail, signed the lease, and sent a deposit. We wish to have Craft Self Storage stop invoicing us for services never agreed to or utilized in any way and stop harassing us on the same subject.
