I received a call from this customer asking for service on a heating unitWhen I got to the house the customer told me the heater wasn't working and while he was trying to repair the problem himself he broke the hot surface igniterThe customer told me he called Johnson Supply to get a igniter but
because he wasn't a service professional Johnson would not sell him the partHe said he wanted me to get the part and install itHe said that the unit might have another problem but he wanted me to start with the igniterI determined that this situation was different from most calls because the customer was trying to help and instructing me how he wanted me to proceedI did what he asked from the time I got thereI left the home to go get a new igniter for the heaterWhen I got back I installed the igniter and turned the heater on .The heater came on and started runningHe asked me how much He owed me and I told him He gave me in cash The whole time I remembered that there maybe another problem but I was doing what he was telling me to do The customer acted like he was ready for me to leave He owed me another dollars and asked his mom to pay thatWhile she was looking for money they asked if I would take a check and I said yesWhile they were starting that process I told them I would go to my truck and get a invoiceAfter coming back inside the customer noticed the blower wasn't running After getting my tools again I determined the blower was running slowI told him there was a problem with the blower and he said the blower motor was newI told him we could check the capacitorThe unit did not have a power disconnect In order to check the capacitor (we) [because he was with me the whole time] needed to turn off the powerHe told me he normally turns the whole house main breaker off to kill the powerI suggested we find out witch breaker was connected to the unitI wanted to only turn off the breaker to the unit for future knowledge use Then we could have lights in the house to work and troubleshoot I do this all the timeDuring that process I disconnected the wiring from the heater I put the positive and ground together proving I had turned the right breaker offNext I checked the capacitor with a meterThe capacitor checked okI told the customer the motor was bad and that was the problemThe customer said the motor was only two years old it wasn't badThe customer told me he had been messing with the wires on the control boardI noticed the low speed wire was connected to the heat terminal and suggested we use medium low to see if that speed was workingThe customer said the Ac was working just a few days ago that's why he thought the blower motor was workingI determined the motor was not going to workThe customer disagreed with me and turned the thermostat to cooling and onHe also switched the fan switch from auto to onI tried to tell him he shouldn't need to do that to get the high speed blower onThe motor didn't work and he became irritated because he didn't understand that the blower was out even though I showed him the process and determined the failure of the motorWhen I turned the fan switch from on to auto this frustrated him. He thought it had to be onI have been doing this years and I have run into similar circumstances with customers and I do my best to walk them through the troubleshooting processI don't like doing that when we are very busy but I do what the customer wants The customer was clearly irritated and asked me to step outside. I told him the motor would need to be changed and reminded him he owed me I went outside and got in my truck I felt like he might start a confrontation so I got my camera on my phone readyHe came outside and told me he wanted me off the propertyI pulled out rolled down my window and asked what the problem was He said I messed up his mother boardHe wanted me to leaveHe said he was calling the Revdex.comThat part is on videoYou cant please everyone but I try tooIts unfortunate he acted the way he did but it wasn't that badIm ok with letting the dollars go but its not right to challenge my abilities or professionalismI was kind to him the whole time even though he tried to tell me how to do my jobThe next time I get in this situation I will turn my camera on the minute the customer starts telling me what to do

Mr. [redacted] has said his heater is maintaining the correct temperature in the house. He said I acted by replacing the hot surface igniter . Job complete . We were not paid in full for replacing the hot surface igniter . Mr. [redacted] owes me an apology for making up this story and not paying me.  I can't explain away a story full of miss truths. I can not allow myself to pay a person money who will lie and make up a story about me.

I am rejecting this response because: The unit is giving four consecutive red flashes. A professional would know what this means. This could mean the evaporator would need to be cleaned, there is a switch that can be pressed for reset, etc., not the blower. If the blower was bad my house would not reach the temp the thermostat is set for. I believe more training and more patience is certainly needed. The diagnosis of the hot surface switch needing to be changed was revealed by me as the tech was running test on other parts stating that it could be the mother board. If the recording the tech has was not edited it will reflect his condescending and provoking character he portrayed at my home. I'm not sure if this was due to the point the tech brought out due to business being slow this winter, or when he stated he does not like working on the heat since it is more difficult than the a.c., or even when he stated he does not trust anything about the York unit. My mother was home and stated she looked noticeably out the blinds to let the tech know he was being watched while he caused a seen by speeding out the driveway and rushing backward down the road to harass me with his video. When you are a professional you should handle situations as such. I am requesting a full refund on labor. I could have purchased the part from Johnsons, but could not get it wholesale as I am not a tech. However, the tech purchased it, and still sold it to me full value which is fine. I am requesting a full refund on labor.
