Review: I brought my lawn tractor in to Craig's for an estimate. I received the estimate over the phone. I declined the repairs; they were $100 more expensive than another shop which had provided an estimate. When I went to pick up the lawn tractor, I was told there was a charge for the estimate. I mentioned that there was no sign saying that there would be a charge. I said that there had been no mention of a charge at the time the estimate was requested. Craig's replied that I had not asked if there would be a charge (!) and that he had to charge. I said that two other repair shops had provided an estimate without charging.

We understand Mr [redacted] concern, however it is the practice of our business to charge $30.00 for an estimate on repairs. This may be collected up front depending on the equipment but is not always collected prior to the service being done. I understand in the complaint that Mr [redacted] stated no sign is posted and he was not advised of the charge prior to the service. We do apologize if he was not told there would be a charge but there is a sign posted in the office stating there is a charge for estimates. We have pictures that show that we do have a sign posted. It is in the office where our customers come in for assistance and also pay for any repairs. The pictures show that the sign is located with all informational signs on the wall at the entrance to the shop. This is with in 4 feet of the desk where people pay the charges or set up the service request. The office is only about 10 by 10 feet so it is very easy to see all informational signs.

On May 31st we took our riding lawn mower in to repaired. We were to,d that it was a belt and would cost about $60 and would take about 1 week. After 1 1/2 weeks we called and asked how it was going and was told the belt did not come in and they had ordered wrong and would be in couple days. After 2 weeks we called and were told that the belt still was not in and they hoped it would be next day. We finally received a call 2 days later and they said it was done and would be $262 dollars.
Please let people know that they have ripped people off and they take much longer than they tell you when you drop it off. We feel very ripped off.
