To Whom It May Concern,
I have already more than addressed all of these complaints against meThe bottom line is we met with *** and her husband and agreed upon a priceThey had a month to go over the contract, and the first day we
started, she wanted to change everythingAnything that was in the contract (or not in the contract) is not a "surprise"Let's be extremely clear about thatAs I said previously, everything was in black and whiteThat's why
we have contracts.
Nowhere on the contract does it say ANYTHING about a backup pumping systemAs I said before, everything was in black and white....with pictures, I might addI couldn't make it any more simplified
In thirty (30) years, I have never had anyone be so adamant about something that is clearly not in the contractMy reputation speaks for itself
Furthermore, they broke the agreement, not usWe never said we wouldn't do the work, which still stands to this dayShe insisted we give her an $1,backup pumping system that was not in the contract after we had
already given her $1,discount off the entire projectHow much more did she want? Unbelievable!
The reason *** **called that morning, as explained in the previous letter, was a courtesy call only to see where she would prefer the sump pump and the EXISTING backup pumping systemIt had nothing to do with asking if she wanted a backup pumping system or notShe is totally confusing the issueDoes it say backup pumping system in the contract? ABSOLUTELY NOT! The picture doesn't show it, or the written description doesn't say it. Where she got this, I have no ideaIt's obviously just another feeble attempt to get something for free like she did through the whole process.
As far as the $discount, that was a one time offer at a home show a year ago that she did not have a coupon from which had been expired anywayIt was only good for that one weekIt has NEVER been on our website.
Bottom line, we go by contracts, she cancelled, never said we wouldn't do the work (that choice was hers)Ifwe cancelled the work, why would I state that we have always been ready, willing and able to do the work stated in the contract? Obviously, another lie
Sincerely,
*** ***

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *** and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
The ***s should refund my deposit for the work that they never even began. I see no legitimate reason why they should be allowed to keep it. *** *** stated he would refund my deposit minus a fee for the dumpsterHe then denied saying this and wrote an email stating he would refund the remodeling deposit but not the waterproofing deposit. To date I have received nothing. I have submitted considerable documentation to verify my version of the story while their story continues to change. They have tried to blame it all on me and have given several different accounts (sometimes conflicting) of their version of the problem. They did no work, they used no materials and they agreed to refund my deposit when we agreed to cancel the job. They should just return my deposit
Regards,

Now for the truth in this matter
First of all, the work was rescheduled when it came to my attention that we had a different setup day for the *** ***Since it would have broken
up the week, and we would not have been able to complete the job within that one week time frame (I don't like to operate in that fashion), we rescheduled it in a week that we could complete the entire job all at once, which she agreed to
The phone call that she received from my son ***, was a courtesy call to let her know where we were going to place the sump pumpMy son simply mentioned that we were going to disconnect and replace the sump pump and reconnect her existing backup pumping systemThat's when she started to insist that she was going to get a new backup system, which was clearly not in the contractWe stated to her that if she wanted the new backup system it would cost an additional $1,100, but she certainly did not need it since she already had oneShe then told us that she no longer wanted us to do the job unless she got the backup pumping system at no additional cost and insisted on a refund or she was going to take us to small claims court and trash us on Angie's listI told her that she would get a refund on the remodeling deposit onlyJust as the dumpster company never delivered the dumpster but yet it was in motion to her house and billed us for $108, I had set aside that entire week for her job and I and my crew were out the money as we could have scheduled another customer for that weekApparently she didn't hear that portion as she was too busy ranting and ravingThat's why companies take deposits
We never discussed a brand new backup pumping system, and it certainly was not in the contract and if it was, obviously the price of the contract would have reflected itShe had over one month to look at this contract with full descriptions and pictures of everything that we were doing; you can't get any clearer than thatMy contracts show not only the description, but also picturesI always try to be as clear as humanly possible in my contractsThis was certainly not a surprise or hidden costShe claims that she doesn't understand waterproofing terms, but she certainly knew what a backup pumping system was the day we tried to start the jobI do not operate like thatIt was never discussed and it was not in our contractThe contract speaks for itselfShe wasn't going by what was agreed toWhat else can I sayI never said I wouldn't do the work, but it will be by the contract that we both agreed toI can also forward you the contract so you can see for yourself
She then proceeded to go onto my *** page and use it as a stage for her liesShe was trying to gain an audience to convince friends and family that we were trying to scam herQuite the opposite; she was trying to scam us on three different occasionsI don't appreciate it when people make accusations against me and my company when they are simply not trueThat is something that I will not tolerate as *** Basements is a very reputable company and our rating with the Revdex.com and Angie's List reflects thatWe have thousands of very satisfied customers, and we always go the extra mile, but this situation was ridiculous!
She says my behavior was inappropriateIf anyone's behavior was inappropriate, it was hersI've never met a person who tried to scam so much out of someoneFirst of all, we were nice enough to give her a $1,discountApparently that wasn't enough for her She had stated that another company came in a lot cheaper than us, but never provided us with the name of the company or any documentation to support that claimSecond of all, my contract states a 30% payment due on the day that the job startsShe told me that she couldn't pay the 30% on the day we were going to start and she would have to pay me on Tuesday but yet there was someone to let us into her homeDidn't quite understand why she couldn't have just left a check with that person for us, but trusting her, we started the job anywayThen she tried to get a free backup pumping system from us on the day we tried to start her job which was not in her contract
The bottom line is we had a contract; we came with a four man crew to start the job even though she did not pay the 30% startup payment stated in the contract; she insisted on a free backup system which was not included in the contract; SHE stopped the work, and therefore forfeited her deposit
Thank you,
