in August, 2018 in response to an ad in the Clipper magazine I hired Cream City Carpet Cleaning to clean my dryer vent. the equipment used tore a hole in a portion of the vent, and the serviceman replaced the torn section with a piece of aluminum which I thought was appropriate. A week later I observed that there were no signs of the dryer venting to the outside. he came back and found that there was a separation in another section of the vent. He then taped two sections together and taped it all to an existing pipe. At that time I asked if the original repair should be reinforced and he said he didn't think it was necessary. A week later that came apart. this latest repair has resulted in a further tear which I believe to be irreparable. The knowledgeable employees at Ace Hardware said that number one he should have known better than to use the type of brush he had on my type of vent, and also that the replacement section was too short and was what caused the stress which ultimately caused the tear. I called the number that appears on my receipt on Saturday April 3, but I have not received a response.
We took a picture of her dryer vent that her condo association installed, she called us initially to clean the dryer vent and as we were doing so it started falling apart ,tearing by handling it alone. We observed the material close and saw it was dry rotted vinyl material going 6 out the back of her condo. It was connected to another dryer vent that was tin sheet metal which h was correctly to code. Vinyl material I explained to the customer is a fire hazard and should never be installed! We did charge the customer $120 for material and to
return to help her have a new piece installed that would work, she claimed she had no one to help her install so that would be appreciated, So I said yes of course I'll help. Why did it take her from August of 2018 to April 2019 to finally complain?! 9 months later.. that's because I wouldn't return her call right away while I was on vacation w my children at that moment I listened to her voicemail which was very blaming and trying to tear down our work ethic and equiptment. I'M sorry I myself not my employee felt right talking to her at that moment. She paid us to fix the problem not replace her dryer vent. And heating tape and a section we purchased was fair for $120. If it came apart which dryer vents do if being stretched to far! I would replace the entire section, she never said too at the time and we would have to take down drop ceiling and installation.
