Creative Car Tunes Reviews (1)

Review: I had my windows tinted last month , 5 windows in my car to be exact in which every single window tinted was full of dirt and imperfections. I returned the following week to have them all repaired, at that time they refused to repair all the windows, and replaced only two. upon arriving to pkc, up the car, I noticed this, and they asked me to come back yet again the following friday to have the remaining three windows fixed. at twhich time I returned a week later, pointed out every flaw in the three remaning windows. when picking up the car at the end of the day yet again, car tunes had my car for an excessive amount of time yet again, and when I picked the car up I fouund that they only retinted two out of the three remaining flawed windows, still leaving yet another window. I have had to commute from the dc dmv area to pa every fiday to have each trip be a complete and utter waste of time. their staff has become increasingly rude each visit, for which they're not happy about repairing their repeated mistakes.Desired Settlement: I want a refund. there is still yet ONE window that STILL has dirt in underneath the film, and at this time i've spent several hundred dollars in gas to commute back up for the repairs that they have repeatedly not completed. I will now have to pay another shop extra to tint the windows correctly costing me now double. I would like my money refunded and I will take it elsewhere to have it done correctly.

Response:

The vehicle in question was originally tinted on Friday July 26th. The original estimate for the job was $175 plus tax, which would equal $185.50. Upon receiving the vehicle it was noticed that the two small rear quarter windows had tint on them from a previous job. We charged an additional $20 to remove and clean those windows only. So the total charge that the customer has incurred is $212.00. After the car was originally done the customer complained about the drivers front window and the very rear window. On Friday August 9th we removed and replaced the drivers front window. We explained that there was glue residue on the lower section of the rear window, and to remove the adhesive from the last tint job would require removing the entire rear interior of the car. There is about an inch and a half of the window that is covered by the carpeted rear deck. To rectify the customers complaint, we removed the rear interior of the vehicle. This took about and hour and a half for removal and reinstallation. We then removed the original film that we applied. We cleaned the adhesive off the lower section of the window and reapplied new tint. We did not charge the customer for this extra service. This went way above and beyond the $20 we charged for the two small side windows. After the car was picked up, the customer called back and complained about the passenger side front window. This was never brought up before. On Friday August 16th we removed and re-tinted both passenger side windows. The company that I use for all of my tint work, said the flaw in the drivers side rear door window is in the glass, which is why it was not replaced. He has been tinting vehicles for 28 years. I have to trust what he is telling me as the truth. Since he has re-tinted every other window on this particular vehicle, I wouldn't see him skipping that one window unless it was something that he could not fix. We have been using him for almost 20 years. There are numerous scratches and gouges in every window on the vehicle. These will show as white marks in the tint that look like dust or dirt. We can not fix flaws in the vehicles existing glass. There is also no way to prevent all dust or particles from entering the area where the tint is being applied. We strive for no dirt or particles in any of our tint jobs, but it is impossible given the environment of a vehicle. Hair, dust ,and dirt are all present in the vehicle before any window is tinted, and some may get trapped between the glass and the film. When tinting a vehicle, all the windows are cleaned with a glass cleaner before tint is applied, but in this case there was adhesive left on every window by the person that removed it. Sometimes it is really hard to see this residue, but when tint is applied it becomes obvious in a couple of hours or a couple of days after the new film has had some time to dry or set up. This is exactly what happened in this case. I understand the frustration that the customer has, but we are not at fault. If we would have known that every window had adhesive on it, we would have charged $15 per side window and $75 for the rear window to be cleaned. This is our standard removal and cleaning fee for vehicles that have existing tint or adhesive residue. We have tried to comply with the customers requests, but sometimes it gets to a point where the expectations are impossible to achieve. I'm sorry that it took as long as it did to fix the tint job, but sometimes there are things that are unforeseen and this is one of those times. As far as I'm aware, the tint job is acceptable except for the one window that can not be fixed. The only thing that I will do to correct this situation is re-tint the one window that is in question to satisfy the customer. We can remove the one window and re-tint it this Friday August 23rd at 3pm. I don't know what more we can do. I have attached our consent form the customer signed. The two items that are in question are notated with arrows. This form has the original signature of the customer.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

The claim that the flaw is in the glass, or was in the glass of any of the windows is an outright lie. you can feel it from the inside and clearly SEE from the outside that there is what looks to be like some sort of brush bristles. I have been back to cartunes to have the windows retinted on two other occassions, one which they tried to skate out and not complete the windows requested resulting in another visit. this time I pointed out EVERY single FLAW in THEIR work, to which he still yet again, ignored one of the windows and left it untouched. ironically after they have replaced the tint in the other windows I complained about those retinted windows are practically perfect. despite the windows being previously tinted prior to or not, this does not make up for the lack of customer service nor my repeated trips to the shop to have the issue corrected. and I still have to have one of the windows retinted by someone else. i've had vehicles tinted by this shop in the past and there were never any issues what soever. so claiming the horrible job is due to the windows in the car is an outright lie as I said previously. I think for the time traveling from two states away each week and the hassle with their employees attitudes is more than warranting my refund.

Response:

As I stated before the adhesive that was left on the windows is what caused this entire situation. If we would have known the car was tinted prior this whole situation could have been avoided as we would have accurately estimated the scope of the work.

We have been responsive to each complaint as they were brought to our attention and have removed and corrected the imperfections pointed out to us in a timely manner. Without additional cost to the customer; we removed the rear interior of the car to re-tint the rear window, and scraped the windows to remove any existing film and residue, neither of which are included for a standard tint application. We strive to ensure each of our customers is satisfied with our work in an effort to maintain our reputation as a quality aftermarket shop. As the customer acknowledged, we have tinted other for them vehicles without issue and the re-tinted windows are nearly perfect.

The fact that you chose to get your vehicle tinted 2 states away is not something to be overlooked, however that was your choice. We have re-tinted all but one window for you, we can refund the cost of that window to you, $45. Please let us know who to write the check to and where to send it.

Response:

And the cost of transit to your store for you to fix YOUR Mistakes? Had this been done right the first time, which you were the ones that notified me prior to tinting the windows they had been tinted previously, my costs for this whole ordeal wouldn't be as much to complain about. Instead I've had two repeat trips there when we initially had the car scheduled at a time that was convenient for me and my work schedule. I actually live in camp hill, so if you didn't tint at such an awkward schedule this also would not have been such an ordeal. But $45 as a refund is an insult for all the trouble I've had to deal with when you were paid $212 to do it correctly the first time. Every response I receive from your end is full of weak excuses when you could have just done the job correctly which is what I wanted. So now I have to take it to someone competent to have that window redone, try to match whatever brand window film you've used, and pay them to remove your shoddy workmanship, and tint it correctly. $45 is definitely not going to cover that nor the gas blown to come up there, the taxi cab fees back and forth to your shop when you told me he vehicle was done when IT WAS NOT, there's $20 per trip back and forth, and I took the cab three times.
