Thank you for making us aware of Ms. [redacted]’s complaint.  In reviewing her account, I find it is truly unfortunate our process resulted in Ms. [redacted] needing to seek resolution with your organization.  This matter should have been able to be resolved to her satisfaction within our...

organization.    Ms. [redacted] was incorrectly charged out-of-state tuition in January 13, 2016 which was due on February 10, 2016.  She questioned her residency status on May 4, 2016.  The bursar staff member who received the request to waive the late fees determined that Ms. [redacted] was only entitled to have the $48.02 in fees waived that were assessed after May 4, 2016.  The staff member was incorrect in her actions and should have waived the total amount of late fees assessed.    Ms. [redacted]’s complaint is not correct in the amount of late fees on her account.  Her account summary is as follows.   In-State Undergraduate Tuition $851.76 Distance Education Course Fee Assessed to online courses $30 per credit hour $90.00 Late Registration Fee Assessed when initial registration is on or after the first day of the semester $70.00 Late Payment Fees $210.32 Total Charges $1,222.08     Late Payment Fee Waiver ($48.02) Payment by Web - ACH ($851.76) Total Payments and Waivers ($899.78)     Current Account Balance $322.30   I will waive the remaining late payment fees on her account which will reduce her balance by $162.30.  Given the difficulty Ms. [redacted] had with getting the late payment fees waived, I will also waive the $70.00 Late Registration Fee.  I cannot waive the Distance Education Course Fee because it is a required fee that all students in online courses must pay.  This will leave Ms. [redacted] with a balance of $90.00.   I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused Ms. [redacted] and I hope she finds this to be a satisfactory resolution.   Sincerely, Brittany H[redacted]
