Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
"I spoke with the business he stated that the customers came in and needed a document notarized. The fee that a company may charge to notarize a document is $5.00 by law. However there is no limit to the price that a business can charge to create a document, and this business charged $20.00 to create the document."
Prior to going to the Business office we called to get information and set an appointment. We did NOT ask the Business to create a document, we wanted an Affidavit notarization. The notary told us, that he HAS TO write the document and the price will be $25. We weren't informed that the price of $25 includes two separate services. We weren't knowledgeable about the price range nether the procedure by law. However, we were prepared and we did our "homework": the day before the appointment I sent [redacted] email containing the affiant data and our (my and my husband's) full names. I wrote the text that the affiant should sign. This text also was containing my full name, spelled correctly. Based on my text the notary created the Affidavit using a template that he usually uses in his work. I just want to point, that if we have the opportunity to bring completely written by us document for notarization, this error would not happen. But we paid to the Business for full service including Affidavit creation, we trusted the Business as a professional and we expected them to do their job at professional level.
"Once the document was created the customer’s husband and mother took it with them. That would have been the time to look it over and make sure the name was correct, as mistakes do happen."
My husband and his mother checked their personal data before to sign. I wasn't there and I didn't sign the document, so I couldn't check my personal data at the moment. I hold [redacted] responsible for the spelling error, as he created the document with my ID in his hands ([redacted] requested my husband to bring him my ID).  We expected professional service from the Business as we paid for a full service: document creation and document notarization. As we are humans, errors happen, but they are BUSINESS, they should be PROFESSIONALS, and their errors may lead to harmful situations.
"After that the customer called and had a problem with the document and had another business notarize another copy."
My husband called the Business around 11am Monday morning when he arrived in Richmond, VA. [redacted] himself picked up the phone. My husband explained to him the problem with the document, we needed the corrected document to be re-signed and notarized again. [redacted] told my husband that HE WILL CALL HIM BACK, BUT HE NEVER DID. After a few hours without a call, my husband was left with the impression that [redacted] was not interested in resolving the problem. So he went to another Notary to get the document notarized. We could not wait around all day to get this done because of the amount of time needed to drive back to northern VA and the fact that we wanted to have this document in the mail the next day. We were not trying to take advantage of the Business, at that time this problem could have been resolved easily if he just called us back to notarize the corrected document.
"The business asked to see a copy of the document, and it is word for word as the document he drafted for the customer"
I personally re-wrote word by word the document that the Business created. I wrote my name correctly, printed out the document and carefully checked it out. Our intention was to notarize the same document again with the Business. Because the Business did not honor our request, we went to another Notary.
We still want a full refund of that we paid to this Business. We did NOT receive the service that we ordered as the final product was useless. Consequence of [redacted] error in "creation" of the document, we had to re-sign it. The business did not make any effort to resolve the problem. Consequence of [redacted] no response to our request for re-signing we had to go to another Notary. We do not received quality service from this Business and we think that we weren't treated as valuable customers.
Regards,
[redacted]

Review: I and my husband called [redacted] regarding an affidavit. We didn't have any recommendations; we just picked up the first number of the Notaries list in [redacted] from [redacted]. My husband made an appointment for 01/08/2014. We live in [redacted], and we had to travel to [redacted], as affiant of the document was my husband's mother, who lives in [redacted], she doesn't have a car, she's ill and she need assistance. My presence wasn't necessary but my personal data should be on the document so the notary asked my husband to bring my ID. My husband took my ID to [redacted], and [redacted] wrote the document (the affidavit) himself. The affidavit was sworn by my husband's mother and my husband return to [redacted] with it. Two days later I read the document that was created and written by [redacted] and I found out that my name was written INCORRECT. This makes this affidavit absolutely worthless! It was Friday evening and [redacted]'s business was closed, so we decided to call him at Monday. As we were short in time, and we needed this affidavit as soon as possible, my husband decided to travel back to [redacted] early Monday morning, 01/13/2014. Around 11 am, when my husband called [redacted]'s office; [redacted], [redacted], picked up the phone. My husband explain to him about the spelling error in my name, [redacted] told him that he should have read the document before he left to go home, he also told my husband that he will call him back in 15 minutes, but he NEVER called back. Because of the time limitations and the fact that my husband had to travel the same day back to [redacted], he had to go to another Notary to have the affidavit stamped. Around 3pm I called back [redacted] and I asked him to refund our money. First I spoke with his [redacted], but she said that she wasn't informed about our case. Finally the [redacted] offered resigning of the document. I told her, that after waiting 2 hours for their call back we got the stamp from another Notary and my husband was on the road heading home. The [redacted] connected me to [redacted]. [redacted] said that he will not refund my money. He said that he WROTE the affidavit and thus he performed a work that we have to pay for, he said what he don't have anything else to say and hung off the phone! In fact we didn't ask him to WRITE the affidavit, he said that was his requirement. Our main goal was to stamp and sign the Affidavit, and [redacted] didn't deliver this service. We spend an additional working day on the road and mailed the documents 5 days later than we wanted. We received unsatisfactory work and irresponsible customer service!Desired Settlement: $25 The same amount that we paid.
