Creative Playrooms Reviews (2)

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below 'd like to go through what was provided by Creative Playrooms step by step to clear up a few issues:1) I understand that there needs to be some flexibility in schedules regarding bottles/naps/diaper changesMy son was to be given a bottle every three hoursHe did receive a morning bottle and one at 1:00, which I gave him on my lunch breakThis means that he was due to receive another at 4:00, and one of the permanent workers of the Strongsville Branch wrote this on the paper and told the girls from Westlake to give him a bottle no later than 4:(as I said, I understand the need for flexibility, and this half hour should have provided that)When I picked him up at 5:00, he still had not received a bottle, bringing it to a full hoursI know that he was "playing" and didn't seem fussy to them, but when I got there, he had tears in his eyes and he was hungryI've never seen him take a bottle as quickly as he did when I had to reach behind my front car seat to hold the bottle for him while I was driving down the road to make it to another appointmentAnd to be candid, it was an appointment to check out another daycare because I was already starting to see red flags earlier in the week.2) Regarding his diaperI know that he could have just wet himself right when I picked him up, but according to the paper (which I have at home), it had been over two hours since he'd been changed and/or checkedThis is a violation of your state policyI do not believe that you'd allow a child to remain wet and uncomfortable, but it just didn't seem like the workers that day had any regard for the schedule that was given to themI do not place the blame on them at allThey were in a new environment with new kids they didn't knowI would have thought that the Director would have made sure that all of the policies were being followed according to the kids' normally daily routines.3) This brings me to the issue of substitutesI am not filing this complaint simply because of my lack of understanding as to why my "favorite" teacher was no longer thereMy confusion arose when one of the hardest workers they had who made sure that my son and all the other babies in the room were taken care of was gone all of the sudden and there were still people there who didn't put forth half as much effort or care toward the babies.4) Regarding the FOB, I kept and destroyed the FOB for multiple reasonsFirst of all, upon telling L [redacted] that I would be withdrawing my son, she never even bothered to ask for it backI would have thought that there was a procedure to be followed whenever a child is withdrawn and Lisa failed to say anything more than, "Okay." Creative Playrooms Strongsville may not be relaxed in its policies, but I do believe that L [redacted] should at least make an effort to ask for key FOBs back, especially since we put down a deposit when we received themShe never even made it an option.5) Finally, I'd like to clear up how the conversation between L [redacted] and me happenedWhen I walked in that morning, I packed up all of my items and put them in my car before L [redacted] was even there, and then I waited until she came inI had her sign my tax forms so that I could get my refund from my flex plan and then I asked her for ***'s medical release policy so that I could give it to the next daycareI said, "He's out." L [redacted] said, "Today?" I continued, "No, he's out for goodWe're pulling him." To which L [redacted] responded, "Okay." Then she made a copy of his medical release form and tried to give me the copyI asked for the original and said, "I wish it hadn't happened like this, L***, but our son has two basic needs - to be fed and to be changedWith a rotating staff, I don't feel like you can guarantee that he'll be provided that." L [redacted] shrugged and turned aroundI grabbed my son's piece of infant artwork off the wall, hugged the remaining infant room teachers and thanked them for caring for my child, and leftI did visit daily at lunch time and popped in whenever I could because I love my son and if it were up to me, he wouldn't be in daycare at allBut very few families can survive on one income anymore, and we are dealing with thatDuring my time there, I did see things that concerned me, but because they didn't directly affect my son, I never thought it was my place to say anythingThere were times that the teachers I trusted weren't there late in the day due to their schedules, and when I knew this, I often came early and took my son home so he wasn't under the care of other employeesAdditionally, I thought it was very unprofessional that the Director walked around barefoot and was seemingly never in her officeMore than once, I saw new families showing up on their first day and waiting outside of the door because L [redacted] wasn't there to buzz them in and get them set upWhat it comes down to in my eyes is poor leadershipI hope this clears some things upI'm a very understanding and flexible parent, and I know that taking care of children in one room with two adults isn't easySome people can manage it, some people can'tAside from H [redacted] and B***, I'm not sure there's anyone there right now who could handle it, and that is why my son is no longer there. Please feel free to contact me with any questions Regards, [redacted] ***

In response to the above complaint, we make every attempt to follow the feeding and napping schedule that is provided to us by the parentOn the day in question, your child had a morning bottle, and a bottle at 1pmHe was scheduled to be fed another bottle after pm, however, as already explained by the staff, he was busy playing and not particularly interested in taking his bottle exactly at that timeA caregiver needs to be able to provide some ?exibility to the child.Your statement is attempting to make it appear as though the staff literally forgot to feed your child a bottle, and that is not the case. The state requires child care centers to have a diaper changing policyIt is our policy to check and/or change a child every two hours, unless the parents request otherwiseIf your child's diaper was wet upon your arrival, this does not mean that he had been wet for any length of timeYour child had been changed several timesIt is quite possible that he wet his diaper or minutes before your arrivalYour complaint is attempting to indicate that we would allow a child to remain wet and uncomfortable, which is not true.As an employer we are not at liberty to discuss what you refer to as your "favorite teacher“We maintain certain child care staff ratios, and in the event of a staff member absence, we have substitutes that are called in.Our policy is to turn off your door FOB as soon as you withdraw, thus your security door FOB stopped working immediately upon your withdrawalParents are still ask to return their security Key Fobs when they withdrawSince you indicated in your complaint that you were concerned about safety, we are questioning why you continue to keep possession of the door FOB? Again, it seems that you are attempting to use this to make us appear to be relaxed in our policies. We have an open door policy for parents, and many times you have visited with your son during the rooming and at lunch time and had no complaintswhen you informed the Director you were withdrawing, she did attempt to speak with you but you were not receptive to discussionPerhaps your feeling of being upset is more related to what you refer to as your favorite teacher not being there. We have been in business for over years and work very hard to provide a quality child care setting and educational program for the children and the parents. We do wish you the best going forward.Sincerely, [redacted] ,Operational Manager
