Creative Wood Products, Inc. Reviews (6)

Dear *** I don't consider this matter closed and I reject the response given by Creative Wood Products IncFranklin, WI. I do not see a resolution being reached with this company. I would hope that you will be posting my claim statements (Revdex.com) and responses on the Revdex.com website under this business listing.*** ***

To Whom It May Concern,I have checked our records and found this customer's complain to have been answered. Iam attaching a copy of the letter issued to you on April 11 , 2016 as confirmation. We feel that we have sufficiently addressed all of their concerns in person, in writing andthrough you as the Revdex.com.[redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Let us address this one thing at a time. We have not heard ANYTHING from Creative Wood Products since [redacted] yelled and stormed out of our house on 12/10/2015.  NO PHONE CALLS, NO LETTERS, NO PERSONAL VISIT, nothing.Creative Wood Products offered us an upgrade to solid wood doors (at the time of the contract signing on 3/23/2015 for a cost of $800..  She said the doors would periodically need adjusting with their 8 way hinges.  NOTHING was said about the gaps between the door frames and door inserts.  I personally checked at the “Cabinet Tree” in Brookfield and “Nonns” in Waukesha about gaps in the door fronts.  There were none-same design of the door fronts.  Checked in people’s houses and my RV trailer—NO gaps in door fronts. If there indeed needs to be gaps in the doors for expansion they should be located to the inside of the doors. Being on the outside lets dust, spilled items, dirt to get stuck in there and no way to clean it out. We told [redacted] repeatedly that we wanted a basic, carefree kitchen that was easy to clean. The measurements of 1” to 1-3/8”  difference from her drawing/plans is quite a lot when you want to put kitchen appliances on the counter-top underneath the upper cabinets.  At the time Creative Woods Products , measurements (which she collected $5000), we specifically brought out the mixer that we wanted to put on the counter-top.  WE verified the 18” measurements we wanted.  We notified her on 6/2/15 that her installer mounted the upper cabinets 2”-3” below the soffits.   A difference of 1 to 1-3/8” difference may not considered a lot when you are measuring a 10” bedroom or a 20’ living room but is quite substantial when mounting upper cabinets in a kitchen in relation to the counter-top.The gouge in the counter-top was caused by her subcontractor who installed it.  It was not done by the [redacted]’s.  It broke through the laminate and into the wood.  They filled it with seam sealer. IT is not a filling agent it is a seam sealer.  Sealer is not a repair. The original faucet that was bought by the [redacted]’s and installed by Creative Wood Products sub-contractor was damaged during his installation.  On 12/10/15 that same sub-contractor brought into our house the new faucet which he installed and the old faucet he personally put back into the box.  He left, [redacted] yelled and left the house in a “HUFF”.  I have no knowledge as to where the old faucet is.There is NO reason that this kitchen is still not completed to our satisfaction.  MY regrets are that we did not put a completion date on the original contract.  Even when [redacted] acting as a agent for CREATIVE WOOD PRODUCTS signed an additional agreement that the kitchen was going to be finished by 8/10/15 “to our satisfaction” (exact wording)-didn’t fulfill her commitment.  Even though I supplied her with a letter about the “Right to Cure” law didn’t ful-fill her commitment.  [redacted]’s promises that permits for electrical and plumbing were obtained starting way back in July of 2015 were not actually applied for until 12/8 and 12/9/2015.Her statement of we bent over backwards for this client-is untrue.  IF replacing a counter-top that was cut TOO short, IF replacing drawer fronts and cabinet doors that were warped, IF covering scratches and replacing a damaged faucet, IF putting two different designed cabinet hardware on,  IF not supplying copies of permits when asked and only  applied for at the last minute, IF replacing a cabinet door because it got caught in the plainer when the door was made and left a “Corn-cob” shaped gouge in the door.  IF the one cabinet light that they installed incorrectly because Creative Wood Products failed to communicate to the electrician on how to position the fixture.  Even after repositioning the light that [redacted]( she physically showed us how it was to be mounted and then backtracked and said that it would not be to code). IT passed the electrical inspection. These all should have been inspected BEFORE they even left CREATIVE WOOD PRODUCTS INC. property.   They did NOT DO ANY bending over backwards for us.There was NOT one scheduled appointment that was made with [redacted] of Creative Wood Products, that she was actually arrived on time, always 15- 45 minutes late.CREATIVE WOOD PRODUCTS response to my complaint is unacceptable[redacted]

We spent about 30 hours + with this client and had at least
six face to face appointments. I have attached for your review, a copy of what
the [redacted]'s received on or about 5/28/15. When we take a design fee or hold payment, we give a copy of the drawings to
our clients. Mr. & Mrs. [redacted]...

received these same drawings as attached
with this letter. As we know at this point we feel the fee is a small amount to
the time we spent with this client. At the point they had a full set of
drawings that any shop or store could of duplicated. Our policy is not to give our drawings out to anyone without
a design fee or hold payment. When we received the $300.00 the [redacted]'s in
return received a set of our drawings which included the measurements taken
from their home on it. These are the same drawings which we use for building
cabinets in our shop.

This family business has good intentions we believe. Having stated that, the persons they contracted to renovate our kitchen did such a poor quality job making various general and specific mistakes. For example, they created a doorway that connected from the kitchen to the living room. The doorway was clearly uneven. We found out the person who did the work does not have expertise in this aspect of construction. Also, when they hooked up the ceiling fan to the light, whenever we turn it on, the fan goes on. A third example is, when they installed piping to the attic to reroute ventilation, the piping completely blocked the attic door. My husband found a way to reach his hand in, take apart the piping, open the door, then reassemble it and place it in a different location. These types of incidents happened if they weren't monitored closely. My husband lost work time because he felt compelled to be there when they were working on certain aspects of the renovation. Second, their communication is lacking. Several days would pass before we would hear from them as to when they were coming. This happened week after week. The contract they arranged with us stated they'd be finished on or around September 30th, 2013. By the time mid-November came and they still hadn't finished (and still hadn't been communicating with us regularly), we said we did not want them back. They absorbed between 3 and $4,000 due to all of the problems.

Review: Creative Wood made nine kitchen cabinet doors for me and they do not fit properly.Desired Settlement: remeasure doors and make new replacements,as promised by [redacted] the repair man and by [redacted] to take care of the problems. As of 10-25-13 we have not received a return phone call from anyone at creative wood products.
