Review: Mr. P[redacted] was hired to install a custom wood built-in cabinet for our daughter's room in November of 2013. The work was completed in January 2014. The built in consists of shelving above a changing table platform with two cabinets beneath the platform. We had numerous quality and timing issues with the work Mr. P[redacted] and his contractors performed for us and ultimately it was completed. In light of the fact that it was not completed to our satisfaction (paint brush marks seen all of the trim pieces, seams visible on wood shelving frame, shelves not measured correctly, sharp corner on platform which is dangerous in a baby's room etc) we asked for a refund and Mr. P[redacted] did give a small amount back. I was hopeful that paying high dollar for a custom piece would not land me here filing a complaint months later. Last week, I opened the cabinet door to retrieve a diaper like I do daily and the door literally just fell right off the built in, hinges and all. One of the hinges cracked the wood and just fell off the structure as I opened it. We were told that the doors are not solid wood, which is what was represented that we were getting, but a particle board. Perhaps that is why the doors didn't hold up as well as they should have? We are asking for this piece to be repaired and doors replaced so this piece will last much longer than a few months. I have attempted to contact Mr. P[redacted] via email and on [redacted] over a week ago asking him to come repair/replace the door and have not heard from him.Desired Settlement: We are filing this complaint so Mr. P[redacted] stands behind his promise of "Quality woodwork" and does the right thing with respect to this broken cabinet. We paid a lot of money for a solid wood built in and that is not what we got. We are asking that the doors be replaced for solid wood doors that will not fall off when being opened and that this "quality" will last for years not 7 months.
