CreditMax Automotive of Sacramento Reviews (9)

Review: I bought a car at credit max on Feb. 11 2014. I put a down payment of 2500, I paid my monthly payments starting April 1st now up to this date in July. The company closed down in June, now I can't get a hold of anybody, the number on the window is no longer in service. Now I don't know where to pay my bill or how to go about getting my pink slip. I'm worried there gonna repossess my car even tho I'm trying to make a payment and own the car. I went to make a payment this month but the car lot was empty and only one security guard was out there and he said the company is completely closed down and their gonna repossess all the cars.Desired Settlement: I would like my full refund on the car of what I paid up to this date or figure out a deal of how to get a hold of the pink slip.

Review: I purchased my car 07/31/2013 from creditmax Sacramento. My drain plug is striped and pan possibly broken needs to be fixed.

I purchased my car 07/31/2013 from creditmax Sacramento. A couple of weeks later I try to take it [redacted] in Fairfield, CA to get a synthetic oil change. They would not touch my vehicle because they said that the drain plug was stripped and a possible damaged oil pan. I immediately called credit max. I tried to get in contact with them for 3 weeks and they never returned my messages or answered my phone calls. You can talk to big [redacted] I kept calling him because I bought my care from him but I was talking to him every day. Finally I get a call back 09/09/2013 from [redacted] he said he was the manager of service. He was very rude and kept insinuating that I was lying and [redacted] damaged my car. That is ridiculous they would not even touch my car. I could get a printout saying they have no record of me in their system. After we argued for a while he hung up on me and I called back and another employee answered the phone I asked him what's [redacted]s name is he yelled out "[redacted] what is your last name" and he yelled out "[redacted]" they started to laugh about this. That was the most unprofessional encounter I ever had with a business. I finally called back the next day and got an appointment for sept 20 at 1:30 pm. I came in on the 20th and chris fontaine came to the counter and said that he was not helping due to me slandering his business on yelp. As a consumer I have a right to tell other consumers the truth about a business. It took me three weeks to get someone on the move from service. He waited for me to drive all the way from Fairfield to tell me this. He wanted to waste my money and my wages from work to deal with this nightmare. He stated that in my warrant only covers major engine work but on the phone [redacted] said they could and would fix it. They were the last place to service it and I have a warranty on the vehicle. I was upset then went to talk to the owner [redacted]. He has a glass office anyone in the lobby could see that he is sitting there. The front staff said he would be right with me. 15 minutes past and I go back up and ask if he was going to see me? He then came back and said he was pressed for time and [redacted] is the only one who could help me. This kind of customer service is unacceptable. I never felt this way ever from a business. After you buy a vehicle from them they could care less about their services that is why their telephone system is made so easy to get to sales and very hard to get to service. Desired Settlement: I would like my warranty refunded to me since they are not going to service my vehicle at their facility.

Initial Business Response

I'm sorry for the situation that happened to Mrs [redacted], but before a vehicle is sold here at Creditmax Automotive, it goes through a comrehensive safety inspection which includes an oil change. We keep all the records of work completed on our vhicles. So for the drain plug to be striped is highly unlikley but we were going to look at the vheicle for Mrs [redacted] anyway. She called on the phone to talk to service and was using profanities and calling my service staff and managers

inappropriate names. [redacted] did hag up on her because of that and didn't want to give his last name to her because if her treatment torward him. She then called back and spoke with [redacted] the service director and she did the same to him so we decided not to look at her vehicle because of the treatment and ask her to go elswhere to have her vehicle looked at. Then she came to speak to me and I was busy so I had one of my managers go speak with her and she was rude to him as well. I called chris in service to see what the situation was and he let me know exactly what was going on. I agreeded with [redacted]'s decission to have her take her business elswhere.

If Mrs [redacted] wants to cancel your warranty she needs to contact [redacted] at XXX XXX-XXXX ext [redacted] but we strongly advise that you don't because of issues that do happen on a pre owned vehicle.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

[redacted] I called the warranty number twice and they explained to me that in order to get my wrranty processed I would have to go through the dealer where I purchased my vehicle, which is your delarship.I will call your delarship monday morning and try to get my warranty reimbursed since I can not use it.

Final Business Response

I feel that he should have said "I don't feel confortable giving you my last name" and gave you his managers name. But from what he and [redacted], the Service Director said to me was you were out of control and cursing on the phone. [redacted] made a judgment call on not wanting to service your vehicle because you slanderd us on a public form. I stand behind his decission. And yes thats my office with the glass. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to talk with you because I was in meetings most of the day so I sent one of my managers to assist you. You don't have to get your vehicle fixed at our location to be able to use the service contract. we perfer it but not manditory. Iy still choose to cancel refer to my last email.

Review: My complaint is that Credit Max sold me and my fiance a salvaged car. I [redacted] purchase the car from Credit Max on January 19, 2013. I made several attempts to receive a car fax from them and was never given one. And them knowing if I was given one me and my fiancee whould have not purchase the car. I did not know it was a salvaged car until I tried to trade in for another car and was told that they could not help me because it was in an accident and the car was a salvaged car. It has many problems, such as full gauge not working properly, punctured fuel tank, front passenger door closes improperly, due to the accident right-rear strut often makes noise. Vehicle has a salvaged title and was unknown and not told to me.Desired Settlement: So what I want the out come to be is my down payment refunded to me and the car payment I made

Review: In October of 2012 my wife and I bought a jeep liberty 2005 when we bought the car the salesman informed us that we would have a month to get whatever we find that needed repair we would have fixed at no cost to us, so within two days I first mention that the check engine light came on they check it and the light went off, two days later the light was on they did a diagnostic check on it and found out it was the catalytic converter so they order one outside of California, and was told to drive the car until it comes in two weeks later in-which it took longer, but once it arrived it was wrong and they tried to make it fit but couldn't. So I had to wait another two weeks then it was installed. a month later check engine came on again so I went through the process of changing gas cap getting tune-ups etc nothing two different mechanics thought about refreshing the computer, so then I went to midas and had a diagnostic check done and theses are the mechanic words: chk eng light on code pO430. catalytic converter. no aftermarket converter available in ca. cannot determine is the entire cat was replaced or not. dealer only part. should be complete bolt in assy with both left and right converters pre welded. he couldn't tell what went on and wouldn't work on the car. So I went to their website and saw other complaints similar to mine, I called the automotive part places to see if they had the part order from creditmax and the guy got nervous and wouldn't talk to me. I spoke with Chrysler ford and jeep they didn't want to touch the car, so I am stuck with a car that is about to quit on me and still owe money for. no body wants to touch the car what am I to do?Desired Settlement: even though wells Fargo has tried to help us in this matter by deferring two payment for us to try and fix the car but it is going to be way more for me to find anyone to fix it and the price to replace the part and what damages it might have already done to the car I want my full money back either from Wells Fargo being that I cant find the owner of credit-max but I lost 2000. dollars on this car plus 233.00 a month since October 2012 I hate to do this to Wells Fargo but who else do I go to.

Review: This has been the worst car buying experience! the sales people are liars and are shady. They tell you false statements just to get you to buy a car. The person that lied to me and sold me the car no longer works there. His Name is ** I believe he might be at another dealership which is what I was told by a current employee. When I called to speak to a manager about the lie I was told and how I am now stuck with a high interest rate and high payments the manager told me there is nothing he can do, since the person who sold me the vehicle had left and it wasn't his problem. Even Though, the sales person no longer works there, That is his company and customers should be put first! Not Recommended!Desired Settlement: Either they need to take the car back, Or resolve the issue. If not I will be calling [redacted] And Lawyers will be involved.

Review: I purchased a car off of a car lot called Credit Max in Sacramento, CA a month ago today. The date was April 16, 2014 & twelve days later my engine went into flames, Out of nowhere I had no problems with the car prior or the smoke that happened right before the flames started to creep from under the hood. The car has been found as a total lost & they say that the fire came from an electrical problem in the engine & I personally believe that it came from the GPS. That the dealership put in the car. And also there is a lot of bad things going on in that business because the guy whom sold me the car no longer in employed with them. And they are doing nothing to help me in this horrible time. This occasion happened only twelve days after purchasing the car. As a result of this I have lost my job which means I'm losing money.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for the the whole price of the cars price that the dealership sold it to me for.

Response:

It's very unfortunate what happened to Mrs Moncrease's vehicle. We feel terrible. But the dealership did nothing wrong. We don't know why her vehicle caught on fire two weeks after she bought. Thank God no one got hurt. I understand the vehicle was totaled so the insurance is paying off the entire loan balance so she can buy another vehicle. If she would like to buy a vehicle again from us I would give her a great deal. I'm sorry but that's all I can offer.

Review: I put a down payment down towards purchasing a vehicle and two weeks later after they were out of business. I was told I was approved and 30 days later asked to return fhe vehicle.I tried returning the vehicle but I was lied to and forced to keep the vehicle. I don't know how to contact the owner.Desired Settlement: Investigation

Review: Non Operation of vehicle registration this vehicle was being driven with no registrion. And I found out by a officer that the car should not be on the road. The officer said that he could tow my car because it had no registring in the DMV system so I went to DMV to correct the problem. That was cause by credit max car sale. I talk to someone name [redacted] and [redacted] and thir was no results.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

Initial Business Response

We registered Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle through our automated registration service but, due to the previous owners title only status and a glitch in the automated registration services system, we were not notified of the non-op status during the registration process. If we had been of course we would have corrected it. The first we knew of the issue is when Mr. [redacted] contacted us demanding we pay him $400.00 for his pain and suffering. He explained to us that his tires had been slashed leaving him on the side of the road. An officer approached and ran his registration and informed him of the non-op status and told him that he could have his vehicle towed. Mr. [redacted] wanted us to pay his current registration of $196.00 that was due the day he contacted us and for us to pay for the replacement of his slashed tires. Of course, if his vehicle had been towed we would have felt obligated to pay for this expense. Although, we regret that Mr. [redacted] vehicle was not registered properly due to reasons beyond our control, we do not feel it is our responsibility to pay for his registration or slashed tires.

Final Consumer Response

Unsatisfied with response. Vehicle was towed. Sent receipt. Creditmax needs pay for registration since computer glitch was their fault.

When purchasing a vehicle, I expect the registration to be covered before I drive it off the lot. This computer glitch and previous owners title problem was caused by Creditmax not double checking when they bought the previous owners car. I shouldn't have to learn from a police officer my car was non operable. The amount $196.00 should be reimbursed to me since Creditmax should honor and pay for the vehicle registration process because it was their error. If this was current, I wouldn't have had to pay an additional registration. The car was towed & I do have the receipt which I sent in with the first request. Credit max responded: "Of course, if his vehicle had been towed we would have felt obligated to pay for this expense." So they should reimburse me for the tow bill. I see, Credit max failed to file and check up on the proper paperwork involving the previous owners title...which means if they refuse to pay, they need to sue the previous owner and cut me a check for the registration. It should've been taken place in the first place.

I am unsatisfied with their response. They offered to pay for towing and didn't even though my car was towed. Or even an apology as to why I had to pay for registration of the vehicle which by law should be taken care of before I bought the car.

I request to be reimbursed for the tow, which Credit max states they will reimburse me for.

I request Credit max help, regardless of whose was at fault, not blaming previous owners title, or a computer glitch and refund the amt I had to pay at the DMV system.

I request some sort of reimbursement since I was very upset stranded on the side of the road, approached by a police officer and informed from him, not the dealership that my new/used car was inoperable and the blaming the glitch on someone else.

If I'd known this was the kind of service provided, and Credit max was not who they claimed to be on their tv commercials, I would have taken my business elsewhere.

The clerks stated, "The cause of the Non operation status of vehicle registration causing the car to be driven with no registration was caused by the Credit max car sale."

Please let me know if I need to retain proof from the DVM as to WHO is responsible for reimbursing me for the registration I had to pay for.

I want this case to remain open until I feel the issue is resolve.

Thank you, [redacted]

Final Business Response

The receipt that was shown to us stated "mount and balance two tires" it was not for towing of the vehicle. The receipt was also from a painting company which was unusual?? Mr. [redacted] stated to me while at the dealership that the officer did not have his vehicle towed but, that the officer stated he could have it towed. If the vehicle was towed, it was due to the slashed tires and not the inop vehicle status.

I do not expect Mr. [redacted] to know this as he is not a DMV clerk but, a dealer is not allowed to collect for fees on a vehicle contract if the fees are not due within 75 days. Therefore, when he purchased his vehicle in March we only collected the fee of $15.00 for the transfer into his name and $20.00 for plates. If he looks over his contract he will find this to be true. The registration fees of $196.00 that were due in October are for his 2014 current years fees and had nothing to do with the in-op status. This is not our rule...it is a DMV rule and can be verified at any DMV office.

We most certainly apologized to him many times for his inconvenience and the confusion brought about by the registration process.

Review: I was purchasing a car. The dealer changed my income information. I do not want to take part in any fraudulant activities. I am very uncomfortable. I went and spoke with the owner and he swore no wrong was done. But my pay stubs prove otherwise. I tried to return the car and he refused band tried to offer me another car.Desired Settlement: I would like my contract nullified and my $1250 back that I put down as a down payment and to return the car.

Business

Response:

I spoke with the customer and let her know that the salesman calculated her hourly wage by 40 hours in a work week. What the salesman didn't know is that she didn't always work a 40 hour week. We did do as the customer requested and refund her full down payment and let her out of the contract.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely,

Arisha Miles
