Here is cost of parts from *** auto parts storeThe clerk included the 10% discount I would have received as a veteranMy mechanic would have just charged for labor using parts we purchasedSV Towing charged $I would have only paid $

I am rejecting this response because: The response from Susanville Towing Company is a complete fabrication. I, my wife and other adults were on our way for a day camping trip on Monday 6/15/2015, when the thermostat in my Jeep Wrangler malfunctioned and the radiator split across the top midmorning. We pulled over and my wife was able to contact SV Towing. She was told that the tow truck would be dispatched right away. While we waited for the tow truck to arrive, my wife contacted our insurance company. She also called O'Riley's Auto Store in Susanville to price a replacement radiator. She was told they had one in stock and, as she is a veteran, we could get a 10% discount (all parts came to less than $150.00). The phone service she had making phone calls was tenuous at best. Of the cell phones in our group, hers was the only one getting service. The only discussion she had regarding repairs to my jeep, was with the tow truck driver while he was completing the towing paperwork. He was given a check to cover the costs of the tow at that time. Never was there any conversation with the repair staff at SV towing regarding repair of my jeep, nor any discussion of repair costs. Since the camping trip had required a lot of planning and coordination with work schedules, we decided to take the other vehicle in our party and go as planned. We informed the tow truck driver that we would be back late Wednesday, 6/17/and would contact SV Towing regarding the disposition of my jeep and discuss SV Towing mechanic possibly doing the repairs as the driver suggested. There was no verbal agreement or otherwise made at that time. We then spent the rest of Monday through Wednesday afternoon camping on the edge of the High Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada approximately miles from Susanville, Ca. SV Towing staff's contention that my wife spoke to them "6/16" or "daily" is impossible as there is no cell phone service where we were or after we departed from the tow truck diver heading toward Alturas, Ca. We did not have cell service again until late Wednesday afternoon when we were again less than miles from Susanville. When my wife called to speak with SV Towing at that time, she was informed that the jeep was already repaired and it would be over $500.00. When I picked up my Jeep, I had no other option but to pay SV Towing in order to get my vehicle back. As I stated previously, the cost of having my personal mechanic replace my radiator and thermostat would have been less than half of what SV Towing charged me. It is easily verified that there is no cell phone service reception in the area we were camped.Respectfully, *** ***

This does not appear to be a BAR licensed repair faciltyTherfore they don't pay garage keepers ins, city licensing fees, BAR Fees and don't have to live up to the stanards that we doAnybody can go to walmat and buy repair order books

I am rejecting this response because: the whole point of our complaint was not that we were over charged, but that the repairs were done without any notification, discussion, or APPROVAL on our part.  Then, in response , SV Towing fabricated an easily refutable story of how they had been in contact with me for 3 days when they knew full well we were in an area with no cell phone reception.  They requested, and were given, a copy of a receipt from O'Reilly's Auto parts which showed what we would have paid for parts.  The person we could have, and WOULD have had the repairs done by someone of our choosing, but that that SV Towing did the repairs of their own volition, period.  Not only would we have had our repairs done somewhere else, if we had actually been given an estimate, and we wouldn't have just replaced the radiator and thermostat, but would have replaced the hoses as well.

We would like to see the estimate in writing on an invoice from their regular mechanic. Also would like to see in writing from [redacted] that all the parts were that much less.

Lake Almanor Towing was requested by the California Highway Patrol to store a 1988 Jeep Wrangler that had been left unattended.  Lake Almanor towed the vehicle back to storage as requested by the Highway Patrol. The vehicle was towed due to blocking.  My driver stated that the vehicle had...

ran over 3-4 mail boxes and came to rest on the post's that support the mail boxes and was partially in the front yard of a residence. The tow tag does state the call came in at 10:30am on 7/3/2015.  It was actually towed at 10:30pm on 7/3/2015.  Our dispatch log shows it was at 10:30pm as well. The tow tag is marked hit and run.  The reason is Officer [redacted] with the California Highway Patrol had requested us to do so.  Officer [redacted] wanted the registered owner to clear the release of this vehicle through their office.  Officer [redacted] marked hit and run on the 1 80 as well.Lake Almanor Towing did release the vehicle to the Lienholder who is listed on the 1 80 as [redacted]  [redacted].  [redacted] with Super Shoper did provide legal documents showing he/his company are the Lienholder's.Super Shoper paid Lake Almanor Towing for the tow and storage on 7/7/2015.If there is anything else we do to help please let me know.Thank you.

The complaintants wife said to repair car. On 6/16/15 [redacted] & [redacted] talked to her on the phone told her it would be around $500.00 she was fine with price just wanted to know how long it would take. She called every day to see when it would be done, work was finished on 6/17/15 at which time she...

told [redacted] as soon as her husband got home they would pick up car and pay bill. At the time they picked up the car they shook hands with [redacted] and told him how much he had helped them out by getting this done in such a timely manner. Nobody said anything about being unhappy at all they were extemely Pleased or at least that is what they said.

I am rejecting this response because:Lake Almanor towing claims the highway patrol wanted hit and run on the tow tag then why does the highway patrols own form notice of stored vehicle were it says wreck it is marked no, in fact nowhere on the form does the highway patrol make any mention of a hit and run. Why is the writing of the words hit and run different from the rest and when I called Lake Almanor towing yesterday Monday 8/3/15 and asked about the tow tag why did the man I spoke with tell me hit and run was not on the tow tag. The tow company said in there response that the lein holder paid for and picked up the Jeep on the 7th of July then why did they change the tow tag from 4 days to 5 days stored and now go back to it was 4 days, they charged for 5.Why wasn't I the registered owner ever notified of the impound within the time the law allows or at all for that matter. The Jeep was illegally repossessed the payment was not due until 7/28/15 and had I been notified that it was impounded I could have proved that and this whole mess could have been avoided.
