A company referred us to Critter Getter for a possible pest removal service. My wife made a call to the company to get an estimate. The issue was explained and the lady was asked for an estimate. She laughed and said "honey, that would be like me guessing how many needles are in a haystack". Another request was made to see if they could give a ballpark range of the cost, but she replied that they would have to come out and look at it. An appointment was made for the following day, and the call ended. I met the lady at the house and showed them the issue. They offered a service that was unacceptable. Stating that amount of poison gasses that would get out, would not kill us. I was not comfortable with this option, and told them I would have to talk it over with my wife when she got home. The lady then insisted it would be $125 for them to come out that day, or $200 to complete the unsafe extermination. I informed her that my wife asked for any costs or ballpark estimates prior to them coming out, but she said that she told her. I continued to explain that we would have never agreed to this over the phone. She then threatened to file a claim with the credit bureau if I did not pay the $125. I reluctantly paid due to the threat.
My wife arrived after they left and confirmed that she tried multiple times to get any estimated cost associated with the service, but received none. My wife attempted to call the lady and sort out the problem, but she did not answer or return the call. The following day, my wife called again and the lady accused my wife of lying about never receiving a cost and hung up on her.
Yes we were referred byJ ***. Our trip charge is always $125.00 it is standard among service companies. This was explained to his wife who requested appointment time around 6:00. Could not give her an exact amount due to the situation. Gave her an estimate of no less than $200 Could be more. She set the appointment for the following evening. Two technicians arrived and explained what the procedure would entail. There would of never been any dangerous or poison gasses involved. We would not endanger others nor ourselves. We gave him a price of $200.00 to eliminate the wasps. He actually initially agreed to have the services done then he said he wanted to ask his wife. Then he was asked for the service call fee said he did not believe his wife would of had us come if we were going to charge. I explained there is always a service call. He tried to call his wife and offered the two technicians $50.00. They explained this was not acceptable and that if he did not want to pay that they would turn it over to collections. He then payed with a credit card. We later learned that another company he had called wanted them to do the service call at no charge and explained they also could not. A service call was made after hours was given a standard service call price as well as an estimate. The other part of the conversation is as dishonest as both of them have been. We are a honest company with integrity. There will be no refund due to the services request were preformed and an estimate was given. They declined.

I am actually surprised there was even a response to the claim, because I later learned that the *** address listed is not correct. That address was in fact foreclosed on in 2012, and a new owner has lived there since. Perhaps it is useful not to update their business address in effort to misdirect their scammed customers.
The company most certainly did not offer any type of price or service fee at the time of the appointment for an estimate. In response to the after hours call, this time was offered by the owner. At no point did she say that this would include a service fee due to the late hour. Additionally, the time of day should not be a factor in the service fee, since she clearly stated that this is a service fee for all calls.
I am also confused by your diction in your remarks about what you later learned. I can only assume that you are referring to your statements at our home when you informed me that I would not be able to find anyone that would not charge for an estimate. There are in fact many companies that ill provide free estimates. The links below are just a few companies that I found in a quick internet search that provide free estimates. There are clearly numerous companies that will provide free estimates, and several offered custom options for removal to avoid unsafe chemicals. One even offers to remove the infestation by hand in needed. The only option you presented was a commercial grade bug bomb that would clearly leak gases into the house and potentially cause harm to us and our pets. You asked if we ever smelled smoke in our house to determine how air tight the wood stove was, but you may not realize how a wood stove works. It is designed to create a draft for airflow to feed the fire, and as the fire puls in air it helps the smoke rise as it naturaly does. A bug bomb works with presurized gas that does not naturally rise. It is designed to spread. This would clearly force toxic gas out of the seams and into the house. If I wanted to set off a bug bomb, I could do that myself. We called you to provide a service that only a professional could offer.
Finally, you truly must be mistaken by the conversation you had with my wife as you mispoke twice to both of us about the time you spoke to her. Each tme we corrected you, then you corrected yourself. I don't know why you would think we would be lying about this. We are again asking that our money be refunded as there was no mention of any fees for an estimate, and the only service offered was not safe.
