Response:
Hello,
BELOW is several
correspondence emails related to this issue with Cromaglass. I would also
like to note that I called Friday, January 24, 2014 the phone number for
Cromaglass
###-###-#### twice and both times a
recording came over that it was no longer in service.
As far as a warranty.....I was never given a
warranty. This system was put in just before I moved into my home
by the DEP regulations and the Township. I was told the system cost in
the range of $ 20,000.00. The $ 6,000.00 is out of pocket money I
spend in the last 13 + years trying to have the system
repaired. It still doesn't work at this time.
ALSO, I have 22 attachments which involve receipts, etc. but I'm not able to attach all of them in this email. Are you able to give me a direct email address to accommodate them ?
Thank you so much for your time.
You are most welcome. Most of the time you can start the
complaint online followed by copies of documents.
The Revdex.com is Federal and of course the
Atty. General’s State.

Hi
[redacted],
Representative
Brooks asked me to respond to your email.
I
did call Northwest Legal Services and they do not help with this kind of
case. But they did say that you should contact the PA State Attorney
General’s office and the Revdex.com and file complaints.
If
you have any other questions please email or call me.
Thank
you,

Subject: FW: Cromaglass Septic System
Dear Representative
I write to you regarding an issue
that has caused tremendous stress, anxiety and desperation for me.
To give you a brief history; I
moved to my current home at [redacted], PA in May 2000.
My first initial visit with the
realtor went well and I made the decision to purchase the home. On my
second visit to validate my decision, there was some construction, dirt piles,
etc. in the front yard. I asked the realtor what it was and I was told
that it was a new septic system……….a Cromaglass Septic System (Model [redacted]). I was told that it’s state of the art, very expensive system that
will give me years of service. It’s basically a mini septic plant system
in my yard. At the time I wasn’t too keen about the idea….first of all
nothing was said about it at my first visit and there are several very ugly
circles in my (what was once) a pretty front yard. (I
un-affectionately call them “crop circles”).
Well, pretty much from day one,
this system as not worked correctly. The install was from a company in [redacted], PA, [redacted] Enterprises, Inc. I initially contacted the
Township office for direction and they lead me to this company for repairs.
They came out to my home, did this and that. Charged me approximately $
950.00 which included mileage from [redacted], PA. After
that it’s been one service call after another including a new well pump that I
was told was directly linked to the septic system working incorrectly, until
finally this past May 2013, my current service man washed his hands of it and
said we just don’t know how to fix this. (I had [redacted] of
[redacted] service it for several years, including required yearly inspections).
I have documentation of all service calls which I have attached in this email.
I contacted [redacted] PA to come out. They were suggested by the Cromaglass
company specifically, (see emails below). They actually came out 2 separate
days in May of 2013 as after the first day it still was not repaired.
Approximately 3 months after that service call, which by the way came to just
over a total of $ 1,900.00, the system stopped working again ! I
paid Skelly and Loy a lump sum of $ 1,500.00 via a credit card (which I’m still
paying on) and owed them approximately $ 460.00 which I have NOT paid and will
not pay.
(See again, emails pertaining to
this).
At this point I need help with
this. I have over $ 6,000.00 in repairs and nothing to show for it.……………..as I
write this letter I have a utility pump in the one tank to remove the water so
my house “can drain.” This is very inconvenient, especially when it
gets below freezing as the water in the hose will freeze and I have to
alternate hoses. I would like to add that I am a divorced woman living
alone, working several jobs. Sometimes I work up to 60 hours a
week. My income does NOT allow for these types of expenses. After
having 2 service calls representative of the Cromaglass Corporation and the
system still does not work correctly mandates some sort of resolution that does
NOT constitute another expense to me. I feel this system should be
replaced either with a new system or something completely different at no cost
to me. I have, very recently contacted the Cromaglass Corporation (note
attached emails) with no response from them. I would like to add that DEP
is also involved in this, they are the ones that originally proposed a change
to the previous system.
Can you help me ? Do
you have any advice for me ? I can’t afford an attorney, but if I have to
go that direction I may. I actually contemplated a move, but frankly I
love my little house and I love living in [redacted] County and besides who would
buy a home with a faulty septic system.
Any question you have, I will be
glad to answer.
Most Sincerely,

[redacted],
I hope this email finds you
well !
Well it’s been one thing
after another and to date I have spent over $ 6,000.00 in repairs in 12 years
(NOT including chorine tablets, time spent on repairs, stress), and this system
STILL DOES NOT WORK. (See emails below from Skelly and Loy).
Any chance we could find
someone that can ACTUALLY repair this system ? That is closer, much
closer to [redacted], PA.
What course can I take, this
is unreasonable.
I hope a resolution can be
made.
I truly appreciate your time
!!!!!

Dear **. [redacted],
In response to your email below,
we offer the following responses:
We provided repair and troubleshooting services at your request on
two occasions in late May and early June 2013. In both cases, we combined
your site visit with other work in the general area in order to save you
significant labor costs associated with our travel time to the site.
In both cases, we fixed several un-related mechanical problems and had the
system working fine upon our departure, which we documented in the enclosed
service reports.
We did not design or install the system – we simply provided repair
services at your request. While we understand your frustration over years
of problems with this system, we are not responsible for the function of the
system – that would fall on the original designer and/or installer. The
simple fact that your backwashing valve associated with the sand filter was
wired incorrectly is an indication that the system was not installed properly
from the beginning.
Regarding [redacted] and his “helper”, we were simply trying to find
you a local contractor (experienced in working with this system) in order to
save you money. We contacted [redacted] on our own time at no cost to
you and even offered to provide assistance to him over the phone at no cost
to you if needed. You are welcome to contact the manufacturer (Cromaglass)
and inquire about other local service providers.
For the reasons stated above, we are not responsible to cover
the cost of additional repair services that may be required now or in the
future, nor are we responsible to pay for the services of other
contractors. In addition, we strongly recommend prompt payment of our
remaining balance in order to avoid legal action on our part in order to
collect the outstanding payment.
Please feel free to contact [redacted] (our CFO) with any questions or comments.
Thank you.
