Do not rent from these people! They are very unprofessional and rude! I have been at the house I'm leasing for almost 3 years, I paid a deposit, first months rent, as well as last months rent up front. I signed a 1yr lease the first time, when it expired I signed for 6 months, then after that I went month to month. I have never had any problems paying my rent, they've never had to come to my house for any reasons other then to fix the air conditioner that went out in the middle of the summer. I found a house to buy so I gave them a 6 weeks notice that I was moving, which technically only had to be 60 days. They told me they would come put a lockbox on my front door and start showing the property to any potential renters. I explained and tried to reason with them that I was not OK with the fact that they would be bringing anyone and everyone in my house where my children have to stay to show the property with all my belongings still inside. I explained to them that I work nights as well so I sleep during the day, and they where gonna be inconveniencing me because I have to be woke up every time they want to show the house. I also explained that it's just me and my two children during the day because my husband is at work so I did not feel safe with people walking in and out of my house without my husband there in case anything happened. I brought up the fact that they weren't gonna be responsible for any of my belongings if someone broke in after the fact they have seen everything in my house, and I was cussed at by Danny B[redacted] for the simple fact that I wasn't gonna do what they said when they said. I was told they would come in and show the house whenever they wanted to whether I was home or not that it wasn't my choice and it was their right. I told them that every time they decided to come show the house I was going to have the cops there to escort them through the house so that I know me and my children where safe. I also asked how sad does it look to your potential renters that the cops have to escort them through the house, just because they wouldn't let me pack my belongings in peace and get moved out before they show the house. So I was then called an it and ridiculous. He told me they would take me to court and I told him that was fine because I have already discussed my rights as a renter with an attorney and I have no problem hiring them if I had to go to court, he then pursued to tell me that I didn't have the money to afford an attorney because I was renting a house that cost $850 a month vs owning one, and that they had attorneys on backup. I told him they didn't know what I had and that if they showed up and I felt threatened for mine and my kids life I had no problem using any means necessary including deadly force so that I know we would be OK. He then told me that I was not allowed to do that and I was threatening him and he would press charges on me. I told him I was not threatening him, I was letting him know that if he comes in my house when I'm asleep and brings people through there that I had no problem defending me and my kids any means necessary. All I asked for was them not show the house till after my family and our belongings where out, but because they are greedy and money hungry all this has happened. Even told me that if I changed the locks and wouldn't let them in that that was grounds for keeping my whole deposit (which I have already talked to my attorney about as well and he told me that is not true that they have to have a realistic list of things that are broken or need repaired from excessive abuse and not normal wear and tear in order to keep the security deposit or partial security deposit). I have tried to reason with them and even offered to be out a week ahead of time so that they would have a full week to show before the first of the month came and they could rent it, but that was unacceptable as well. I don't think I am being unreasonable at all in this situation I pay rent for my family to have peace and comfort in this home, if they we're going to be parading people through the house the last month I should've never had to pay a full months rent because I'm not getting that peace and comfort that I paid for. I hope no one else has to go through all of this because they can't have a little bit of decency and respect for other people.
