Crothers Tire Co & Auto Repair Reviews (1)

Shop owner [redacted] threw me out after I complained about shoty work to my electical system. Blinker, hazards wipers & radio does not work. On October 25, 2012 I came in with a problem to my fuse box and my van it would not start, blinkers did not work, brake illumination and all other wired connection ceased. It started when I hooked up a trailer to the cargo end of my van. Driving along I noticed smoke emitting from the fuse box. Pulling off to inspect I saw that the trailer could have a botched electic hook up. I purchased the van about a month prior to the incident thus using the trailer for the first time that day of noticing smoke. Talking with the owner [redacted] about what had happened we went over options such as attaching a breaker to the box or installing a new fuse box from the dealership. I told [redacted] I can go to the junk yard and pickup a used box. [redacted] then said, he would not warranty any used parts and that he would only warranty his own work or a new fuse box from the dealership. I went with his work as [redacted] stated it would cost less. Before I dropped the van off we agreed to have it fixed on October 26, 2012 with [redacted] and crew as the contractors. [redacted] than attempted to fix the issue and did seem to get my van back to working order. I paid $479.84 and went on my way. The very next day my brake lights cut out. I informed [redacted] of the issue, and told him everything seems to be still working except the brake illumination. I asked him to check it over. He agreed, thus fixing my brake illumination on October 27, 2012 stating it was a bad breaker he had installed. I went on my way again and was happy for a good month until around January 3, 2013 I started my van, pulled out of the driveway, than came to stop at the first light to work. To my amaze a driver behind me screeched to a stop on a very cold day. The driver than let on the horn, whaled out the window "Nice [redacted] Brake lights". Wow I thought I have to pull over after this car passes me. I put the van in park and wedged a block to keep the brake engaged. I than walked around to inspect noticing the driver was correct, my brake lights did not work, yet again! I needed to get to work so I pulled off the fuse panel to get a better look at the new breaker box. I jiggled the wires and the brake lights illuminated. So I continued my way to work with no issue thank God. A few months later the very same issue with the brake lights not illuminating happened again on June 6, 2013. I had remembered jiggling the wires worked last time so I tried the same steps as I stated. It did not work, nothing illuminated, and I was now a few minutes from home without brake lights. Luckly Toms shop is right down the street from my home so I made it there to ask [redacted] to again check his work over. [redacted] thus agreed but told me it would have to be checked on June 10, 2013 almost a week from the time of arrival. [redacted] said he was booked and that there was nothing he could do so I agreed to bring it in on the 10th. After bringing it in for a second time on the 10th [redacted] attempted to inspect his work on my fuse box. Not too much later in the day [redacted] did call to inform me the brakes were working again, and that I owe [redacted] $208 more dollars. I said I did not authorize you [redacted] to add to the jobs October 26, 2012 contract, I only asked you to check it over like I did before on October 27, 2012. I got off the phone to go down the street to better discuss with [redacted] the matter and he handed me my keys, threw me out telling me never to come back and to have a good life. I had not even checked what he did for $208 let alone got the chance to figure out how to paying for something I did not have. Not only did he not want to hear me, Now after inspection of work preformed, my blinkers, my windshield wipers, And my radio now do not work after June tenths, 2013 updated mikey mouse job! [redacted] had fixed the brake light illumination, but Now more of the same beginning problems have risin. I now have a van that I have paid for to be fixed 9 months ago, but still the work is not right and thus Now it seems [redacted] and crew have made it worse after stated warranty. Desired SettlementI want my van to be fixed as contracted on October 26, 2012. I paided for a mickey mouse hack job when it was stated to be warrantied at a lesser cost than the dealer, and that it would be fixed back to full working order. If [redacted] had said to me the back in October the only way to fix the issue is to get a new fuse box from the dealership I would have had no choice than. Yet [redacted]'s work provided me with a solution that wasn't efficient. Now he wants me to keep paying for his shop crew to fix what should have already been fixed in October. He was extremely rude to me, and all I wanted was him to check his work and advise. I did not want him to fix one problem in exchange for three others! Business' Initial Response As customer stated, he did have an issue with his fuse box and wiring harness had melting after he hooked his trailer to his 3500 1 Ton [redacted]. At that time the van had multiple problems, not starting and no lights ect.. We did talk about repair options and decided on trying to repair the fuse box and wiring harness. As customer stated he did have a problem a short time after the repair was done with a breaker going bad which was under warranty. Since that repair in October Crothers Tire wasn't aware of any issues over the winter months of 2013.Customer then made an appointment for June 10th for no Brake Lights and asked Crothers ([redacted] he thouight the repaired was related to the fuse box problem he had last year. [redacted] told the custmoer he wouldn't know until [redacted] was looked at. On June 10th appointment Crothers Tech checked van over and didn't find a problem with the fuse box but did find Shorted out broken wires in the rear of the van from sliding cargo in and out.(Fuse Box is located in front of van) and also had shorted out bad brake switch. Crothers Tech repaired the problem (Which was different from last years repair). After van was repaired [redacted] did call customer and told him what was done to the van and customer stated he didn't have the money to pay the bill and was upset with Crothers and would come down to shop to disguss what was done to the van. Customer came to shop promptly and [redacted] explained the repair was unrelated to the fuse box and that the customer broke wiring in the rear on the van. Customer then was very upset that he wasn't called ahead of time and thought it was going to be under warranty. [redacted] then gave the customer his keys and did NOT charge the customer for the repair and asked if he would bring his buisness elsewhere the next time.In order to resolve this problem Crothers would like to fully reinburse for the repair that was done last year ($479.84) since he isn't satisfied with that repair. Customer then can bring van to another shop and have it repaired.
