Crown Boiler Company Reviews (19)

We just replaced a Crown Bimini 225 that was in service for 12 years. While we owned it, we had approximately 40 service calls. It never really worked. We were always having to reset it after a hard lockout. Many parts were replaced. Several different service companies tried and failed to fix it. Finally, our current service company said that so many parts were going bad that it would be cheaper to replace rather than repair it. Their opinion was that there were initial installation errors but also design flaws in the boiler. They installed a Lochinvar boiler. I obtained 4 estimates and they all bid either Lochinvar or Weil-MaClain. Two of them indicated they had heard of other problems with Crown boilers. I would be very cautious about buying a Crown boiler.

Dear Sir,
The Service and Maintenance section of the manual states that the boiler should annually be inspected for leaks This includes the coil gasket Since this serviceable part had been leaking for an extended period, a routine inspection would have detected the
leak long before the claimed damage had occurredAs such, there is no warranty claim.

The consumer had a leaking [redacted] water heater.  We honored the life-time warranty and issued him a replacement water heater.  When the replacement water failed,, we asked for water samples from the homeowner to determine why the water heaters were failing.  The PH level is water...

sample was approx. 50% higher than the limit stated in our warranty.  Technically their is no warranty coverage however we issued a third tank on 1/3/17.  The third water heater was a different style which is not susceptible to the water quality issues the original two style waters were.We have gone above and beyond for this homeowner.  There should be no further complaint.

The factory warranty on this equipment is applicable to the original owner, in the
original location which means the warranty is non-transferable.  Our warranty department, in an effort to help the homeowner, offered a discount towards the purchase of a new boiler.  There is no way to...

determine how the original owner maintained or serviced the boiler, or the conditions under which this boiler was operating for the first eight years.  Crown has properly enforced the factory warranty and is not responsible for the homeowners fuel bills or cost to replace their boiler.

Review: In 2004 my home was built with a Crown boiler and indirect hot water heater. The water heater has a lifetime warranty against tank leaks. In August 2014 the tank started leaking all over the basement. I contacted Crown and spoke to the warranty manager, Bob G[redacted], who told me I would have to order the tank from a distributor, pay for it and they would reimburse me for the it. I disputed with Mr. G[redacted] that it was unfair for me to have to pay shipping, tax and warranty processing in addition to a plumbers charge of $400. to install the unit. He was rude, abrupt and arrogant, however, needing to have it repaired I ordered the unit from [redacted] in [redacted], NY on 8/8/14 for a total of $1226.19. (this total included shipping of $130, $100 warranty processing fee, the unit and tax, and they stated I would only receive $904 back as that was the price of the unit.) To process the warranty I was required to drag the whole tank back to [redacted] so they could submit parts or pictures to Crown to process the refund and I turned it in on August 15. I was informed by [redacted] that the refund would take 2 weeks. On September 4, I called [redacted] regarding the refund as I had not received it and was informed that they were at the mercy of Crown to initiate credit to them so they could release the money back to me and that Crown had not done so yet. Immediately after I hung up with [redacted] my wife called Crown and spoke to Bob G[redacted] who refused to give any information. He stated that we were to call [redacted] as this had nothing to do with him. I informed him that Crown was the maker of the hot water heater and our warranty was with them and not [redacted] in addition to the fact that [redacted] said they needed to initiate the refund. I asked him to contact [redacted] or to just let us know that it was indeed being processed. He refused all information and was extremely rude and unhelpful. When I told him that I would contact the Revdex.com or the State Attorney General, he said do what you have to do and hung up. Please help us to secure our refund for a product that was severely defective.Desired Settlement: Refund immediately!

Review: Our boiler (when it was 4-1/2 years old, stopped working. We sent numerous letters to Crown Boilers to resolve the issue but we never got a response. The boiler for the first 4 years reset itself after a power out or black out, but this past August, it started to go into a hard lock out and has to be reset manually. As a result, we have not been comfortable leaving our home in the cold weather. This boiler is in New Jersey at[redacted]Desired Settlement: Would like a response from the President of Crown Boilers to our two letters and hopefully get a refund for a motor we had to replace. His name is [redacted]. We would never have purchased this type of boiler had we known that after a power out, we have to be available to reset the boiler. This did not happen the first four years.

Review: I purchased a Boiler from Crown about 3 years ago. This past winter, in the midst of extreme cold weather in NY, the boiler failed. The root cause was a faulty return pipe which developed a crack, and leaked water throughout the unit damaging several electronic parts. The boiler was inoperable for 4 day's during extreme weather. The crack in the pipe only recently developed (a week or so earlier). I know this because I frequently work out of this basement and I inspect the boiler frequently. My service company got the boiler up and running however they tell me there are noises indicative of a motor which is about to fail. This motor is cost prohibitive to replace. My contention is that the return pipe in this furnace should not have cracked after only 3 years. I contend that this is a quality issue with this particular part and that Crown should own up to that. After several emails and conversations with Crown executives, they refuse to take ownership. They are claiming that had I had a maintenance tech look at the unit some time within the past year, that he would have detected this problem. I and my service company and my installer all disagree. This crack was in a very remote area not visible by anyone inspecting the unit. The only real sign of the problem occurred when water leaked out but at that point it was too late. I could have very easily fabricated maintenance records but I didn't. I chose to deal with Crown honestly and professionally expecting the same in return. I have interacted with them via phone calls and emails many times on this issue. They always seem to be looking for a reason to justify not standing behind the quality of their product.Desired Settlement: I would like Crown to replace this defective furnace.
