Initial Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2015/01/30) */
This unit was purchased new on 09-06-for $***It was February of before any complaint was filed on this unit and then the complaint was that it had a water leak
When the complaint was called in to our office I was out of the
office for the week on vacationUpon my return I made several attempts to contact customer with no answer and no return calls from himFinally in October he called to tell me he was not going to need the unit and was putting it up for sale stating his health was the reason for selling this unitOutdoor wood furnaces are a secondary heat source and are not meant to be the primary heat source so when he told me he was going to sale the unit I took for granted he was going back to his primary heat source to heat his homeHe asked me to tell any potential customers this used unit was for sale and to contact him if interestedWhile we were on the phone I asked him about the leak and he told me it was a leak at a fitting underground, not in the unit and he had fixed itThis outdoor wood furnace, like most, was not installed by us so this failure was a problem of the installer not *** so this was a plumbing problem not an outdoor wood furnace problem
After this visit I had told *** of this furnace being for sale and gave him Kennys contact information for him to contact himself
Then around the first of November he called telling me had had a leak inside the chamber to which I asked him to send picturesSeveral days later I received the pictures and forwarded them to *** per their requestThey got back with me and told me the process was for me to make an inspection of the unit using their inspection report! The process was to make the inspection then forward the inspection report to *** for their approval and they would make a pickup request for furnace to be picked up at our facility*** would then take unit to their factory, disassemble, inspect and get back to us with their proposal for repairI would have been responsible to get the unit from customers home to our facility!
When I told Kenny this process he got upset telling me this was unacceptable and he was going to file a complaintWe offered to do the procedure that *** asked but was denied by the customerIn order for *** to take any responsibility for the warranty this process needed to be followedWithout this process the warranty would have fallen solely on the dealer
I do not decide what warranty covers and what it does not, that is ***s decisionThis will be based on the inspection they do at the factory
AS per the problems his brother had we made service calls over years to make needed repairs and was unaware of any continuing problems
Just like last year, I will be out of the office the first week of February!
If customer will allow, we can make the inspection after my return and start the process then
*** requires the customer maintain proper levels of corrosion inhibitor and do routine maintenance per ***s manualOur experience is if these procedures are followed the furnace operates like it should
