First of all, "Crown Properties" is solely run by a landlord named [redacted]. And [redacted] is the type of landlord you regret ever doing business with. He seems nice at first, and fairly accommodating to your needs. Until you actually need something regarding repairs to the rental unit. We had four incidences over two years in which our kitchen faucet sputtered brown water. He said it was safe to use (drinking and cooking with brown water....really?). It always took at least 1-2 weeks for him to fix it. The last occurrence took 4 months. And now, we are having trouble trying to retrieve money that he owes us. We made an over-payment in rent, and he states he is entitled to this due to damage to the carpet in the unit (which is untrue). Every time we needed something fixed, he always had an excuse as to why it was taking him a while; it usually involved him being sick, or having surgery, or the repair person having surgery. I filed a complaint with the State of WI. His response to their investigation is chock full of lies. The State admonished him and instructed him that he owes us the full amount (he tried to make a case that he is willing to give less than 1/3 what is owed). So far, we have not been able to collect what is due us.

We had a similar experience with Jerry. He was very nice at first but when major components of the unit started failing, he was conveniently away at a funeral or some other excuse. The dishwasher was broken for 12 days, the garage door opener was broken for 10 days. Both bathrooms are barely in working order, we had to tape up the tiles in one of the shower so they would stay on the wall. The other one didn't drain and the toilet was only held on with one bolt. When he sent our security deposit back, he used a lower amount to start and then deducted fixes for the garage door opener, dishwasher and shaving the bathroom door so it would close, things noted in the list of 20 things wrong with the place and to which he stated we would not be responsible. Now we are in Small Claims court and suspect that the outcome will be similar to the previous tenant. Our advice is to steer clear of working with [redacted] or his company.

We currently reside in one of his units and are experiencing the same type of bad situations. This landlord has been caught entering our unit when he was not allowed. The police were called and when they arrived on scene he was asked to leave and then he proceeded to take our house keys. The officer then try to contact him to return them and that's when the excuses came and reasons for not returning them. Now comes the ideal threats and reasons for not giving the security deposit back and also the money owed for painting the unit ($300). Please be advised he is nice at first but like the other complaints, you will regret ever having dealings with him. He has no respect for other peoples property or time as he likes to text/email/call at all times of the day and will not stop when asked. Please take pictures of everything and keep notes as ending things with this landlord is never easy.
