Doug and his crew at CRS painted my kitchen, stair spindles and stained my stairs. They did a great job and were polite, friendly and easy to work with.

The bathroom update we contracted for was done on time and within the agreed upon price. Every change we made was accommodated and professionally carried out. Our powder room looks amazing now. So pleased with this outcome.
We chose CRS because years ago and it still looks amazing.

We have been very pleased with the work that the front line staff have performed on the various projects that we have engaged CRS Granite for. The staff are very knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions. I would certainly engage their services again on future projects.

Thank you for your kind words Catherine! All of us at CRS enjoyed working with you on your home renovation. We appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience. We take great pride in the quality of our workmanship and appreciate the feedback. Hope you're enjoying your beautiful new space!

We had a great experience with CRS! Finishing our basement was something we've wanted to do since we purchased the house and we found CRS working on another house in our neighborhood. The crew and staff were great, they answered our questions, made suggestions for materials and even improved the plans we initially had to close in the furnace area.

Our basement was unfinished when we started, with a bit of work done by the previous owners - which CRS fixed and improved. We wanted to keep the open space of the main area but decided to close off the furnace and water heater, so we created a utility room. Everything else was framed and drywalled, with doors added to separate the laundry room and workshop. A new door was also installed for the cold cellar. We can often have a number of computers running in the basement so we made sure to install additional outlets and pot lights so CRS's electrician increased our power by installing a "pony" box to extend our existing electrical box. Our stairs and landing also got a makeover, CRS added proper support for the landing and closed off the back of the stairs. The only thing not taken care of was around the windows - CRS asked about finishing the window boxes but we opted not to have them finished as we are hoping to replace the windows relatively soon, so CRS left them unfinished at our request.

There was a bit of a hiccup in the timeline of our renovation as we decided to install a backwater valve in our sewer pipe - something that can only be done from a plumber selected by the city, for us to be eligible for a rebate - as well as repair work to the pipe itself as damage had been caused by our tree roots. The plumber that we choose from a list of about 5 options (city selected) was not very good and caused delays. CRS was unable to continue parts of the renovation because of this plumbing company until they were done, but once those issues were taken care of, CRS was back at it completing the job.

The work CRS did is fantastic, they listened to what we wanted and they delivered! We love our new basement!

After searching through Hamilton, we finally found the right company with honesty and reliability. We worked closely with the owner and design team to help us choose the right materials for the right cost. Over two projects with CRS I would gladly have them come back to do more work.

I hope this review helps anyone make the right choice to call CRS Granite.

Thanks guys.

CRS Renovation & Design Response

Thank you for your kind words. All of us at CRS truly enjoyed working with you on your kitchen project, it looks beautiful. We look forward to working with you again in the future.

Best Regards,
CRS Granite

We worked with CRS for supplying and installing a breakfast bar in our kitchen. This was a small job for their business, but they had many 'remnants' to choose from and they helped me narrow down from the vast selection, based on colour, decor, size, etc. The installers were excellent; they told me what the installation process was going to be like before they started, they were very clean, respected our home, and were efficient in the process. And they accommodated our request to have it complete for a specific date.

Money, not customer satisfaction is Doug J.'s primary motivation. His estimates are not to be trusted and the final straw that prompted this complaint is Doug's response to the partial collapse of my kitchen stack vent, which I directly attribute to the kitchen sink hookup performed by CRS staff.

" Realigning, repairing or re-running the vent line to the roof was not within the scope of work we quoted. Why or how it drop would need to be investigated which would be a billable service call at a rate of $80 per hour, minimum 2 hour charge, payable prior to dispatching. Parts and labour to repair would be extra and payable at time of service delivery once approved, coordinated by our Design Studio. "

All my work quotations stated
"Supply and install Quartz Counter 2cm Atlantic Salt, incl disconnect & reconnect sink @ faucet, incl ABS parts"

We were taken aback when

"Our installer reported that your ABS drain line needs to be lowered to accommodate the under-mount sink you supplied. Dropping the existing drain line will involve opening up the wall and rough-in a new ABS drain at an estimated cost of $475 + HST, unless this something you would like to tackle? Please advise "

We provided an under-mount sink of equal depth, to the one, that would have been supplied by CRS. Given that the counter was to be changed and a deeper sink was to be installed, I logically assumed that the drainage line would be affected and costs were covered by the estimate. Doug J. was the estimator of our project and I hold him accountable. We reluctantly paid for that hookup. There were other instances that involved extra potential cost to ourselves, but I was no longer buying the word of Doug J. for those services.

CRS Renovation & Design Response

CRS entered into a sales contract on Dec 8, 2016, valued at $11,320 + HST to paint the face frame of the existing cabinets, replace doors and drawers faces, replace door hinges with soft close, supply and install a new quartz counter, disconnect and reconnect plumbing, incl removal and disposal of waste associated to the job. Customer supplied the under-mount sink purchased from ***, as well as faucet and handles. ***. On Dec 20, 2016, Customer upgraded the door style which added $1170 + HST to project. Client also was considering to 1. Replace top drawer to the right of the fridge with a metal rail system that was quoted at $ 120 + HST 2. Adding Ribbon under-cabinet light system 12V, warm white, incl 2 drivers 12V , track, clips, on/off switch, installation (Electrical extra) that was quoted at $676.74 + HST and 3. Adding a Light Valance that was quoted at $230 + HST. Client decided not to add items 1 to 3. On Jan 11, 2017, CRS emailed a final order confirmation, site readiness guidelines and installation schedule which the client accepted on Jan 12, 2017. The installation started on Jan 23, 2017, however, it was discovered that the cabinet faces had several layers of paint which was going to add 2 - 3 more days to the time line. It was also discovered that all drawer faces had been glued, nailed and screwed meaning that the drawers will need to be rebuilt adding $ 120 + HST to the project. In addition, one of the drawer faces could not be removed without taking out disconnecting and reconnecting the dishwasher, adding $180 + HST to the project, that are considered to be unforeseen costs. Client decided to remove the drawer faces himself, complaining that CRS was unwilling. CRS responded starting that it's not a matter of unwillingness, but the fact CRS was not prepared to take the risks given that it's not our property to destroy. On Jan 25, 2017, it was discovered that the sink the client supplied, required the drain line to be lowered, which would involve opening up the wall and rough-in a new drain line at an estimated cost of $475 + HST. Client felt the price was too high and offered to pay $175 + HST which CRS rejected, as the cost of doing business cannot be compared to the cost of a homeowner doing the work themselves. The costs associated to corresponding, administration, purchasing, planning, organizing, reviewing, documenting, discussing, delegating, following up, tracking purchases, accounting, governments share, depreciation of equipment, insurance, and overhead is not free to a business. Everything is connected to time, material and overhead costs which must be factored into the price. As a business, operating in Ontario, every $1 spent should produce a return value of $3, otherwise, you will not survive. The price quoted has all of the cost of doing business built-in. While the parts are relatively inexpensive, the time to execute is often misplaced by a homeowner. CRS is not prepared to devalue the products and services we offer. Clients who are not willing to accept the price quoted, are free to shop around for a better price, OR do the modification yourself OR accept the price as quoted to keep the installation moving forward. On Jan 27, 2017, the client acceptance the add-on costs to drop the existing drain to accommodate the new sink supplied by customer, including rough-in of ABS line. Installation was anticipated to take 6 days to complete, but took 12 days due to client making changes to scope of work and unforeseen problems outside of our control. The project was completed on Feb 24, 2017, final payment was collected and the client signed off that the project was complete. On May 30, 2017, the client call CRS after discovering their roof vent dropped. CRS asked for pictures to review the matter, but client was unable to send any. Client insisting service, complaining that CRS is at fault but could not provide any evidence to support the issue was not pre-existing given the age of the home. On May 31, 2017, CRS advised client that realigning, repairing or re-running the vent line to the roof was not within the scope of work originally quoted and that the request was outside of our service warranty. If service is required to investigate it would be a billable service call at a rate of $80 per hour, minimum 2 hour charge, and payable prior to dispatching. Parts and labour to repair would be extra and payable at time of service delivery once approved, coordinated by our Design Studio. On Jun 01, 2017, our Design Studio spoke to the client who completed the repair himself, therefore, we consider the matter closed. Should you or anyone else require additional information or pictures, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at ***@crsremodeling.ca. Regards, Doug J., President of CRS Granite Ltd.

We were very pleased with Doug and his staff at CRS granite. They were very professional and made us feel at ease with the whole renovation process. We will be calling when it is time for our basement renovation!
