Ct Asphalt Specialist showed up at our shop on Dec 9th in the morning on a cold call un announced. One of the owners had informed me that they were working for the State of Ct and that due to to advent of hitting an unmarked Concrete pipe with excessive ground water they were not able to pave and were at risk of loosing the day and the asphalt they had on site to pave with. In an attempt to minimize their losses. The owner told me that they were desperate to make a deal. They saw our driveway and decided to stop in. He said they would grade, compact and pave the shop drive way and parking approximately 5000 square feet with approximately 90 tons of asphalt at 3 inch compacted to 2.5 inches. "A text book Job without pooling as he stated for 8500.00". I had recently got a quote so I knew that was a good price. My base was real good. As it turned out The install was substantially below standard in all areas. Edging, seams, compaction, pooling apron all issues, When I asked them to remedy they said they would. When CT asphalt was asked to substantiate the class of product and tonnage used as well as where the product was purchased from. There information was not confirmed by the product supplier. To date they have not substantiated that information. I am not convinced based on the above that we got 90 ton. In fact the product provider that CT asphalt insists they used says that they purchased only 48 ton that day ..About half of what would be required. at 73.00 per ton that is $3,504 dollars worth of product. Also my employees only saw two trucks. At a maximum of 20 to 22 ton per truck that would be short by 45 plus ton. At this point we have a decent binder course. I have attempted through E- Mail and phone conversation to remedy as recent at yesterday 12-15-15 but to date have only got promises and pats on the back. Not Pretty. I feel our company was more that fair to CT Asphalt Specialists by sending them 6,000.00. More than they deserved. They got the better end of this deal but at least it was on my terms.

Review: I am [redacted] and I am writing this complaint on behalf of my dad. CT Asphalt Paving Specialists took advantage of my 93-year old dad. They tricked my dad into re-paving his driveway by telling him that it would cost $6,000 for repaving his driveway, but that they could do it for $3,000. I was not their at the time the driveway was re-surfaced. They did a poor quality job and the driveway now has numerous safety issues. CT Asphalt Paving Specialists did not honor their contract. Me and my brother tried to work with them to get the driveway fixed properly. Their solution was to pay them another $4500 to fix it the way it should have been done the first time as stated in their contract. They also hung up the phone on us numerous times when we tried to resolve the problem. Recently we had second paving company come and evaluate the job. This second paving company pointed out many safety issues. The second paying company also pointed out that CT Asphalt Paving Specialist had not honored their contact and in general did poor quality work. The deficiencies of CT Asphalt Paving Specialists work include the following: They did not remove the old driveway as stated in their contract. They put down inconsistent thickness of layers that did not add up to 2 inches as quoted. They created puddled areas that collect water that now freezes into ice making a dangerous fall hazard. They did not grade the driveway for proper drainage, again making for ice formation and a dangerous fall hazard. They used a low grade asphalt and cold asphalt material that gave a poor finish and will fall apart quickly.Desired Settlement: The driveway needs to be replaced with the old driveway torn up as stated and not performed in the CT Asphalt Paving Specialists contract. This was not performed and is the cause of most safety hazards. If this is not an option, my dad would like his $3,180 back so we can hire another company to resurface the driveway properly

Review: Contractor approached me and my husband to pave our driveway. He said he would tear old pavement and lay down crush rock with grade A asphalt. We ask how much he said $2500. We said no could not afford that price, I ask would he consider $2000. he said he would meet us half way with $2250. We said ok. He walked the driveway and said what is this concrete that was lining the outside of our driveway, we said we had no idea. Karl bought the house in [redacted], tis the driveway that was here. I wrote a check for $2250. on 6-9-15. The driveway was removed late that day. The next day they finished the job around 1:30 pm. My husband had left for a [redacted] Appointment 30 minutes earlier. A knock on the door, grab the check to give to contractor. I opened the door He looked at the check and started screaming at me saying that he had gone way over budget, there was concrete under there and that we owed $3177.80. He pushed the storm door all the way back and stood in the door way yelling that my husband shook his hand and said he would pay 2800.00. I said no he didn't we don't have 2800. He yelled at me for about 10 minutes..All his working were walking around with their heads down. This man was huge he filled my doorway, about 6'4 280-300 pounds. All the blood ran out of my head , I felt I was going to faint , I was so frightened and shocked at his behavior and his bellowing that my neighbors across the street heard, which he thought he was yelling at his workers . I was all alone, he was not leaving until I gave him a check for 2800.00. I was so intimidated by his posturing and yelling, I went inside and wrote the check for 2800.00. He not on reneged on our agreed priced, he collected 550.00 more. Not once in the process of taking the driveway or during the process of laying it down did he stop and say this is over budget. Not that we could have done anything about. We did except the 2500.00 proposal because it was too much. My husband and I are in our **'s retired on a fixed income, but are left with 550.00 to make up in our living expenses This was so planned, I felt foolish and still shook up from the ordeal

Friday I file a complaint with the police dept for harassment and disturbing the peace. The case # [redacted] . I can'r imagine another senior citizen woman having to experience the trauma I was put through .Desired Settlement: a Refund of 550.00 and a reprimand for the unprofessional contractor.

We hired CT Asphalt and Paving to pave our common drive in Wilton CT about 6 years ago. This Common drive serves about 10 homes,....we paid $50K to have them come lay 3 inches of paving rolled to 2.5 inches, but it is all breaking up and has potholes all over it! We have had several other contractors come take a look at it since CT Paving will not return our calls or show up for Appts that we made with them to come out. Other contractors are telling us that we really only have 1-2 inches of paving material on the road,...that's why it is all breaking up. So we did not get the 3 inches that we paid for.

I feel our company was more that fair to CT Asphalt Specialists by sending them 6,000.00. More than they deserved. They got the better end of this deal but at least it was on my terms.
