CU Recovery Reviews (%countItem)

I filed a complaint for this business under its alias name of 'Alpine Business Solutions'. No one could find the business. It has a fake website online pretending it's a computer IT company when in fact it's a debt collector. I can prove this is the business because their agents called my sick brother and elderly mother several times and left vm messages saying they were alpine business solutions. I have one voicemail because it was forwarded by my mother to me. However I had to call the credit union for which they were collecting for which is Georgia's own credit union and they told me the actual business name was CU Recovery. The credit union was even unaware that this business was leaving messages on family members cellphones regarding my debt and using an alias name and the payment manager of the credit union apologized and took my account from them.

This company is very abusive and they rely on misleading and abusive tactics to get the debtor to pay. They had my phone number and chose instead to badger and harass my relatives. I was left with the impression this is what they often do. My mother is elderly. She is almost 70 years old. She is not a party to any alleged debt they claim I owe. They had no right to continue to call and harass her claiming to be Alpine Business Solutions and leaving their phone number while saying they had a 'serious civil filing' in Shelby County and when I called the number the receptionist answered "CU Recovery". My mother is assisting my stepfather who is a retired vietnam veteran who is battling cancer and they dont have time for this. They also continued to harass my brother who has high blood pressure. Even after Georgia's Own Credit Union took back my account they claimed they found another account that's close to 10 years old they allege belongs to me which I do not acknowledge and even after I told them to cease and desist they continue to call and harass my brother.

I have filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General as well as the CFPB and the Revdex.com however none of them could find the actual business because the name they use is an alias. The Revdex.com even sent my complaint to some business called Alpine Credit who responded they were the wrong business. Now I see that this is the business.

I cannot believe they have an A+ rating with the Revdex.com when they use aliases and harass family members. Makes me almost lose faith in the Revdex.com when wicked companies can have sterling ratings.

Oh, and the FAKE company they set up online to serve as an ALIAS which is Alpine Business Solutions? ITS ALSO ON THE Revdex.com WITH AN A+ RATING.

You've got to be kidding me.

I'm refiling all of my complaints under the correct business name.

CU Recovery, Inc. does not and has never used an alias business name and is in no way affiliated with any business named Alpine Business Solutions. One call and one call only was made by our office to the consumer. This was a returned called prompted by the consumer’s call in to our office. Our client, the consumer and our collector were on the call. During the call, CU Recovery’s employee was not abusive and did not use “abusive tactics”. A majority of the call was the consumer speaking with our client. No calls or call attempts were made to any of the consumer’s relatives or anyone else in relation to the consumer to our knowledge by any employees of our company. No message was left stating the consumer “had a ‘serious civil filing’ in Shelby County”. The allegations made by the consumer are simply not true.

I called CU Recovery to get a statement of what had been paid, broken out in payments and interest. and what my balance was. The man I spoke with stated I was rude, I simply asked for a printed copy of everything. Which is my right. He then gave me a number that after many rings went to voicemail. The balance is higher than what it should be. This company has called my work, they have been rude to me on the phone and they are not providing information.

In Response to Complaint # *** The consumer’s

department supervisor provided a return call but had to leave a voice
mail. The call recording was provided to the department management
and instruction will be provided to our employee based on the call recording. The consumer is encouraged to contact Levi Monroe at

I called regarding an account that got closed down 5yrs ago for no real reason.. when I asked for a reason the lady said it was my name on the account and hung up on me without even really giving me an explanation or answering any questions

The referenced communication between the consumer and our representative has been reviewed. The account in question has not been open in our office since 9/19/2017. Any questions the consumer may have will need to be addressed with the original creditor. At the end of the call with our representative, the consumer stated "alright, peace out, you're no help" and the consumer hung up the call.

I would give them less than 1 if it were possible these people are Jerks!!! Horrible to work with and just down right rude and obnoxious.

CU Recovery makes every effort to deal ethically, compassionately and fairly with all consumers who are making an honest attempt to repay a debt and to maintain a professional demeanor with all consumers.
All conversations between the consumer and CU Recovery’s collector have been reviewed. We feel it is unfortunate the consumer’s experience with our company didn’t meet her expectations.
Should the consumer wish to satisfy her obligation with our client, we welcome her to contact Supervisor, Levi *** at ***.

I do not feel it’s in this company’s best interest to treat the customers with respect and not shame them or downgrade them..
The debt they are trying to collect is over 6 yrs old they can contact my ex husband about it or write it off I am not Paying it!!!! They are predators and heartless

I’m going to try my best to keep this review fair and unemotional. The 2 people I’ve dealt with from CU recovery have been terrible. I originally spoke with Frank Snow who seemed friendly enough at first, but also made some very subtle condescending/ passive aggressive remarks. On later follow up phone calls, his attitude became increasingly rude, uncooperative, and condescending. My last conversation with Frank ended as follows: “I have nothing to say to you.” Then he just hung up on me. I was talking with him, trying to come to a solution while attempting to help him understand the severity of my financial situation. I later called and asked to speak with someone else and was transferred to Frank’s supervisor. I can’t remember his name, but our conversation started out pleasant enough. I spoke calmly and carefully and he seemed receptive to conversing with me on the matter. However, that quickly changed. I was tryin to explain the severity of my financial situation, and he mockingly took offense to something I said, which was never intended in that way at all. He kept repeating how he was so offended and my words were so offensive. I was trying to explain and he continued to talk over me. He became extremely argumentative and belligerent and then accused me of trying to start a fight. I could hardly get a word in edgewise. He then went on during our conversation and accused me of insulting him, as he continued to talk over me. Then he started saying that I was mocking him. I really thought I was dealing with scammers. I just couldn’t believe the way he handled the conversation. It felt like it was a bad joke. Later in the conversation, I said I was exhausted trying to find a way to resolve the debt, to which he replied that I just go get some rest. I tried negotiating with him and even offered several times to make a monthly payment I could afford, but he refused to cooperate. At this point I really felt like I was dealing with an evil person. I don’t know how else to describe it. I eventually became so incredibly frustrated with him, I finally lost it and hollered at him and hung up. I contacted the original creditor ad they said they would look into my dealings with CU Recovery and pull the tapes to listen to. We’ll see where it goes from here.

The actions of CU Recovery, Inc. are governed by FDCPA law and by the office of the Attorney General of the State of Minnesota. As such, we are not permitted to share information related to the collection of any debt other than with the governing bodies of the Attorney General’s Office.
The very nature of the business of debt collection dictates that we cannot guarantee a satisfactory resolve to every debt placed with our agency for collection. Subsequently, we will not and cannot place ourselves under the jurisdiction of any agency other than those that govern collection agencies.
Our collector, Mr.’s response was: The consumer called in and, in his experience, he felt as if the consumer was trying to bait him into saying things that would put himself and CU Recovery’s reputation at risk. When the consumer became aggressive and called Mr. ignorant, instead of escalating the call, he made the decision to terminate the call.
Upon compliance review of the call between the consumer and Mr., we are in agreement with Mr.’s assessment of his conversation with the consumer. Mr. did make attempts through-out the call to discuss an acceptable payment plan with the consumer and offer alternate sources of financing that may be available to the consumer. While we do not condone our employees hanging up on consumers, we also do not expect our collectors to endure name calling from consumers that call our office.
The second person the consumer spoke with was Mr.. On the call with Mr. the consumer called in with the intent of paying $5.00 monthly, which Mr. explained we cannot agree to. The consumer said he had settled several other debts leading up to this, so Mr. tried to focus on resolving this debt by settling (a way our client would be satisfied with and a way the consumer is familiar with). Throughout the call the consumer seemed to be attempting to direct the conversation into FDCPA violations as he did in the earlier call that day with Mr.. Mr. was attempting to discuss possible money resources with the consumer and when the consumer stated he was exhausted trying to find a way to take care of the debt, Mr. suggested he get some rest and he take the weekend to look his finances over and to look at the ways he (the consumer) was able to come up with the money he was able to access to satisfy the other debts as he (the consumer) had stated earlier in the conversation. The consumer told Mr. he was a hundred times worse than the first collector he had spoken with, Mr. asked “what do you mean?” at this point the consumer yelled profanity at the collector and hung up the phone.
Mr. and Mr. held their composure when dealing with the consumer.
CU Recovery makes every effort to deal ethically, compassionately and fairly with all consumers who are making an honest attempt to repay a debt and to maintain a professional demeanor with all consumers.
CU Recovery will be closing the account in our office. Should the consumer wish to resolve his obligation with our client, he should call them directly.

I’m not accepting CU Recovery’s response. The people at CU Recovery are master manipulators and have clearly talked their way out of the Revdex.com’s inquiry. I know what I heard and dealt with. I met the face of evil the day I spoke with Mr.. There are 3 other Revdex.com reviews which all say basically the same thing as mine. The people at CU recovery harass and mistreat people. They provoke people to react. I’ll be contacting the original creditor because I believe there are other violations which I will make sure are addressed.

CU Recovery has been contacting me at work. Multiple times a day. I have asked them to not contact me at work. I've just been contacted by my HR department stating that they have been contacted by CU Recovery Inc and with fax.

Now I am worried about my employment and I feel harassed and bullied by the CU Recovery company with their bully business tactics of ignoring customers request to be not bothered at work and contacting my place of employment without my consent.

CU Recovery Response • Nov 02, 2018

In response to complaint number ***:
CU Recovery has reviewed all calls made to the consumer. While there were calls placed to the consumer’s place of employment number, no one with CU Recovery has ever spoken with the consumer. At no time prior to this complaint did the consumer verbally or in written communication, ask anyone at CU Recovery to not call him at work. We have also not received any cease from anyone else from the consumer’s place of employment.
CU Recovery, Inc has policies and procedures in place to prevent faxes from being sent with the disclosure of our company name to anyone other than the consumer. If this did happen it was done in error and is under investigation.
We have placed a full cease on all communications per the consumer’s request in the complaint.
CU Recovery makes every effort to deal ethically, compassionately and fairly with all consumers who are making an honest attempt to repay a debt and to maintain a professional demeanor with all consumers.
Should the consumer wish to satisfy his obligation with our client, he may contact Supervisor, Levi *** at .

I have asked the representative from the company whom I have been speaking with to not contact me at my work, and she has ignored that and still continues to do so. She even verbally agreed to not contact me at work when we spoke in the past but still called me at my work today.

CU Recovery Response • Oct 10, 2018

In response to compliant number ***:
CU Recovery has reviewed all calls made to the consumer. We have confirmed there were 2 phone calls placed to the consumer’s place of business. Once on 8/10/2018 and once on 10/9/2018. Both times a message was left for the consumer.
On August 10,2018 when the consumer phoned in to discuss his debt in our office, he did request at that time for no further calls to be placed to his place of employment. Our Collector did make note of the place of employment cease in the account history. Unfortunately, our collector neglected to mark the Place of Employment number ceased in the appropriate field in our collection system.
There was an additional call placed to the consumer’s place of employment on October 9, 2018. CU Recovery Inc. has strict policy and procedures relating to calls not being made to consumers places of employment after being ceased and will be working with our collector to insure proper steps are taken to prevent errors like this in the future.

I am rejecting this response because: Although they claim it was an oversight. I was clearly told on the phone when I first made the request to not contact me at work, the representative assured me that she had made the note in the system and it would not happen again. Since all calls are recorded, I'm sure the company has a clear recording of what was stated. Secondly, once my management found out that a debt collector had called my work, I have been placed on probation at work and subsequently reprimanded.

I have been working with CU Recovery inc. for some time now, int he past few months the phone calls and collections methods have becoming increasingly harassing. I have received multiple phone calls in the same day and even a few phone calls at work after expressing that I cannot take personal phone calls at my work place.

From my experience CU Recovery inc. has violated my states laws pertaining to the MAINE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT.

They have also refused to produce copies of my original promissory note, their bond with the state of Maine, or validation of debt when requested in writing.

I want to share my experience with this company. I was insulted and harassed by the customer service agent. It was terrible, the insulting questions and demanding full payment when I was trying to make arrangements in a future date. He was asking me personal question about my tax filling and dependents, and was I expecting a tax return. Pure humiliation. I proceeded to try and explain my non payment status, due to my illness I want unable to work. I will be contacting a lawyer to sue for harassment/insulting comments. My conversation was recorded. I was informed that I'm able to sue for 1,000 plus attorney fees which is worth it.
