The day the ATV was brought back my service writer explained that we would look at any work we did to the ATV free of charge and fix any work that we did if it was the cause of the ATV not running free of chargeMy Service writer explained he is not authorized to work on the electrical issue free of charge because we did not do any of the electrical workThe monies paid to Mosites Motorsports was $for gas and a spark plug, $for the diagnosis of the electrical and running issue, $for the jet kit, and $for the installation of the jet kitThe offer of correcting if need be the jetting of the ATV free of charge is still and always was available. Our recommendation of correcting the electrical system and putting it back to stock was not completed as another non factory repair by the customer was made instead. The ATV ran when it left here and was explained to us that it was ridden when it got home for approximately minsIf there was an issue with the jetting of the ATV it would not just quit running, it wouldn't of ran while it was hereAgain, we would be happy to look at and repair the jetting of the ATV free of chargeIf you would like us to do so please contact my Service Department to schedule the time

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
Regards,
*** *** As stated by the company all of these were offered to me prior to the phone call to the service manager the day after I returned with the atv and was told the service manager was not there....When I called he told me as stated before..."i will not do anything to the atv, you have had it for a week and I don't know what you have done to it"....Seems the service manager is trying to march to a different drummer now.....as stated before, the last conversation with the service manager I had he told me he would no longer work on the atv

Mrs*** dropped of the bike on 5/17/for a scheduled appoint for the wheel bearing issueWhen dropping the motorcycle off it was explained that it was not running correctly and Mrs*** wanted us to look into the issue and correctAs explained by Mrs*** she did authorize us to
R&R rear wheel bearings for $and perform a run ability diagnosis for $for a total of $(See Attached signed RO) As also explained by Mrs*** she agreed to any small parts we needed to complete said repairsOn 5/25/Dale my Service Advisor called and left message to review the repair order and estimate for other repairs the bike would need to bring it back to safe conditionWhen Mr*** called back he spoke with Eric my Service Manager not Dale my service writerWhen reviewing the repair order with Mr*** and the cost to replace all the parts needed to bring it back to safe condition Mr*** declined all additional repairsMy Service Manager Eric offered to take Mr*** over to the parts department when he came in to pick up the bike to review the cost of aftermarket chain and sprocketsEric never quoted a price to Mr*** for those additional aftermarket partsThe bike was completed on June 1st which was our first phone call to Mrs*** in which *** my Service Advisor left a message stating the bike was completedWhen not hearing back from Mrs*** *** called again on June 3rd leaving another message stating the bike was completeOn 6/6/Mrs*** called *** back stating she would be here on 6/7/for pickupAll repairs were completed in daysOn 6/7/Mrs*** signed off on the repair order, paid for the repairs, and picked up motorcycleAfter Mrs*** left we did receive a call from Mr*** who spoke with *** regarding the repairs*** explained to him that we had no notes or authorization to replace the chain and sprockets and he was never charged for doing those repairsA few minutes later Mrs*** returned to service department and it was clear she was upset because her tone and demeaner reflected soMy Service Manager explained to Mrs*** that the chain and sprockets were never authorized by her or her husband so we never performed those repairs nor charged her for themAt this point Mrs*** took out her cell phone in the middle of our Service Department and called her husband on speaker phone, both Mrand Mrs*** began shouting and cursing at my Service Manger EricAfter a few minutes of this Mrs*** proceeded to leave the building exiting my service department then re-entered to continue the conversationMy Service Manager explained that the conversation was very argumentative and in the end, he did make a comment that he shouldn’t have made and was immediately sorry for itEric my Service Manager came to my office a said there was a customer wanting to speak with meMrs*** came into my office and I invited her in to sit down and explain to me what happenedAfter explaining the incident, I reviewed the entire repair order with Mrs***(See Attached) I showed Mrs*** that the additional monies on the repair order were for the repairs they authorized us to performThe additional $was for small parts needed to repair the wheel bearings on the bike that she agreed to verbally, as Mrs*** previously stated in this complaintThe additional $was for a spark plug needed to repair the running issue also previously verbally agreed to as Mrs*** stated in this complaintWhen reviewing I did notice a charge of $for the removal of her axel as it was seized into the wheel and we were unable to remove within the standard time quotedI explained to Mrs*** that the technician had and a half hours into the job and we only charged her for an hourI also explained when giving an estimate for repair we quote a standard price in which a motorcycle normally takes to perform those repairsWhen there are other complications from neglect that would cause additional time to complete those repairs the customer is responsible for those chargesAlthough since Mrs*** did not previously agree to this or was called requesting that extra charge of $I would give her a refund in the form of a gift card for $in which she acceptedAs you can see from attached repair order Mosites Motorsports did not charge Mrs*** for any work she did not agree to, and did not charge for the chain and sprocket workI apologized numerous times to Mrs*** for any miscommunication and for any comments that Eric made that offended herI walked Mrs*** to my Parts Department to get her the gift card and explained to call me when she wanted to purchase the chain, sprockets and other parts needed to bring the bike back into safe operating condition and I would help her out as much as I could with themI believed the situation was resolved as there was no indication from Mrs*** that it wasn’tShe thanked me for my help and leftWhen receiving the call concerning the broken parts and reviewing the photos supplied I immediately authorized the replacement of the parts that she indicated we brokeI informed Eric my Service Manager that day to order the parts and call Mrs*** when we received them inHe explained to me he wanted to personally call her to apologize for any comments he made that offended her, I agreed and that was completed on 6/16/Mosites Motorsports does not feel we are responsible for supplying Mrs*** with a new chain and sprockets for her bike as we did not charge her for those parts nor charged her labor to install those partsIn addition, we had no signature or authorization to replace those parts

Mr*** ATV was brought in with a run ability diagThe customer stated to us he just installed an FMF power bomb exhaust and re-jetted the ATV himselfAfterwards the ATV would not run well and would shut off unless he kept giving it throttleWith the information we received from the
customer, we jetted the ATV to the proper settings and found that there were more issues to the ATV then thatThe wiring harness was spliced into and the factory ignition was removed and replaced with an ignition designed for a car/truckThis new incorrect ignition was then placed under the seat and was wired in with a trailer wiring harnessThis type of ignition that was installed is not designed to handle the vibration that is produced on an ATV especially where it was mounted under the seatWhen the ignition would shake and vibrate we found it would cause the unit to misfire and/or shutdown. We called the customer and told him what we found and stated the unit needs to be put back to its factory conditionThe customer refused to have the work completed by us and picked up his machine to fix it himselfThe customer called us multiple times while he was working on the ATV, he was basically asking us how to repair it over the phone instead of paying us to repair it for himMy Service Manager instructed him multiple times to just bring the ATV back to us before something else is damaged or incorrectly installedA week later the customer came back to our store irate stating his ATV doesn’t run now and he wants his money backHe explained to us prior that he replaced the ignition with toggle switches instead of the factory ignition we recommendedThe ATV ran when it left here and the customer only paid us to correct the jetting on his ATV and diagnose his problem he was having with the ATV shutting downThe ATV stopped running after the customer tried to repair the ATV himselfWe cannot take responsibility for repairs we didn’t make, and we cannot sit on the phone and instruct a customer on how to repair his ATV because he didn’t want to pay us to do soThe offer was made numerous times to bring back the ATV for us to make sure all of the repairs we made to the machine were not the cause of the ATV to quite running, the customer was instructed if the repairs he made to the machine were what was causing it to not run he would then need to pay us to fix what he did

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Regards,
[redacted]I bought the atv in question used and the factory ignition was missing and the wiring was incorrect. the service department was told this many times..I cannot dispute what I did.  I did rewire it and use a non-factory switch and used a trailer harness for electrical connection...this harness had correct size wire and made good connection. (I have an degree in electronics)    The service shop did not contact me I called them....they told me that an electrical diagnostic would cost approx $400.00 and gave me the option to have it done stating that they felt sure it was a faulty ignition switch. I brought the atv back home and yes I did replace the ignition switch with two toggle switches (electricity doesn't know if it is an non-factory item) this was a temporary fix until a factory switch could be purchased. I returned to the shop 5 days later with the atv and was told that the service manager was off. My son and I had a discussion with the employee that was there. Yes I was upset but at no time did I scream or shout. I stated that I would return the next day with the atv when the manager was available. I called the next morning and the service manager said that he would not look at the atv because I had it for 5 days and he did not know what I did to it. I stated that all I did was put two toggle switches in the ignition and light system. He refused to look at the atv. Yes the atv quit running but toggle switches do nothing except turn electricity on and off...I checked the spark plug and found that the atv was running lean.(plug was white).I called and told the service manager what I found and he told me that u cannot tell how the atv is burning because a spark plug needs to have more than 45mins run time on it to be a good read. I talked to another mechanic at the shop and he said this was untrue. So the question I ask is how did they check the rejeting of the carb that takes about 45 mins to accomplish and charge me $429.00 to do this?? Also in response I called them the day I brought the atv home and notified them that it quit running and the service manager said to bring it back. The results are as previously stated above.

The day the ATV was brought back my service writer explained that we would look at any work we did to the ATV free of charge and fix any work that we did if it was the cause of the ATV not running free of charge. My Service writer explained he is not authorized to work on the electrical issue free of charge because we did not do any of the electrical work. The monies paid to Mosites Motorsports was $11.98 for gas and a spark plug, $147.00 for the diagnosis of the electrical and running issue, $65.99 for the jet kit, and $147.00 for the installation of the jet kit. The offer of correcting if need be the jetting of the ATV free of charge is still and always was available. Our recommendation of correcting the electrical system and putting it back to stock was not completed as another non factory repair by the customer was made instead. The ATV ran when it left here and was explained to us that it was ridden when it got home for approximately 45 mins. If there was an issue with the jetting of the ATV it would not just quit running, it wouldn't of ran while it was here. Again, we would be happy to look at and repair the jetting of the ATV free of charge. If you would like us to do so please contact my Service Department to schedule the time.
