Cuckoo Clock Movement Not Fixed but 1.5 years later Charged more than estimated.
Don't go to the Cuckoo Clock doctor. A bad business! Ripoff!
I mailed my 1870 antique cuckoo clock movement to him to have fixed. 1 1/2 years later he said it was done and send it back to me after I paid him via personal check of $550.00 and it doesn't work, still broken! Originally, he said it was going to be $350 to fix it but that wasn't true, said it would take 3-6 months and that was not true.
Sorry I ever thought he could be a good business to trust!

Sent clock to Cuckoo Clock Doctor in February 2017 and received confirmation of it's arrival. Sent e-mail in April 2017 to find out progress. Told it needed quite a bit of work, movement was in process of being repaired and that the rest of the clock needed much work. I know the case needed another figurine and the peak was a little off. Have not heard from them since. Got tired of waiting after a year, bought another clock like I sent them, learned how to repair them, and repaired it myself in 1 week. E-mailed them in February 2018 and told them to keep clock as I have another now and did not want to be on hook for $319.00+ for no finished product.

Will not supply a guarantee that the clock was repaired correctly. It needs to be working before I pay for it. My clock has been at the store for over a year. I have repeatedly ask for progress up date. I finially got tired of waiting and said I want my clock back. All of a sudden I get a bill for the repair. I responded by requesting that if the clock was repaired I wanted some type of guarantee saying the clock works and keeps good time. I said I would send have the money now and half when it was working on my wall. There has been no response. I will not pay full amount until I see the clock working otherwise I am out over $2,000.00.Desired SettlementI want a guarantee that the clock was repaired and that it will keep correct time. I am willing to pay half now and the rest when I have the clock working on my wall.Business Response Before the piece was sent to us & after it's arrival we talked to this customer about work he wanted done(total restoration of case & movement) Customer was also aware all that was broken & pieces missing. Many e-mails were sent as reasonable "status updates" explaining work in progress. This customer was notified as soon as the project was completed and had been tested. We have also sent certified letter & e-mails about and concerning the invoice and payment. We have given a limited and reasonable warranty on the work performed to this antique. Customer since refuses to pay for work performed & services provided & was aware of payment in full before shipment. He has made unreasonable demands as to partial payment, terms of payment are non negotiable and must be made in full.

The repair work took the shop 4 months before the clock was returned to us. The music on the clock does not play. According to the owner the music starter was replaced, however the music does not play. I think the replacement did need to be done. The clock did need a new spindle and it was replaced. I have contacted the shop 2 times in the past 2 weeks and have had no reply.Desired SettlementI will take the cuckoo clock to another repair shop to have the music part of the clock repaired.I dislike the idea of spending additional money after the $364.00 I have already paid the Cuckoo Clock Dr. I just want to put other people on notice about their lack of quality repair work and the amount of time they will keep a clock.

I have not heard from Mr [redacted] on my repairOn October 30,2015 I receive a Email confirmation that my clock was receive as of today I have not heard from Mr [redacted] on my repair also a payment of 319.00 dollars was sentDesired SettlementRepair or return my clock back in the same condition with my full refundBusiness Response Mr. [redacted] clock is here in my shop and going through the restoration process as requested. Customer was notified upon receipt of clock that it had arrived and would begin the restoration process. It takes us on average 4 to 5 months, at present, to get any particular clock through the restoration process and testing. Some clocks particularly clocks that carry a music box complication and chain driven spinning dancer platform as Mr. [redacted] does may fit right into our average timeframe and be ready to come home in 3 to 4 months or might perhaps take longer depending on how they perform during the final testing phase and how problematic they are with their musical complications. Each clock proves to be a little different and I cannot begin to guess about how any particular piece will behave nor exactly how long any particular one might take to be finished until I get it to that point in the final stages of the process and begin testing it. We test each clock for a minimum of two weeks once all the major mechanical work is done and the clock has been reassembled into it's case with it's complications to insure it is functioning perfectly and will continue to do so after it arrives home giving it's owner many years of faithful service after it returns. Although I begin work on each piece as soon as it arrives by completely disassembling it, inspecting it's movement for wear and cleaning and treating it's wooden case etc. so that the various components of the clock can each start the process and be ready for reassembly and testing once the mechanical work has been done to it's movement I try in most instance to finish each clock in the order in which they have arrived to be fair to all customers. I work as hard as I can to finish each piece and get each clock home as soon as possible without compromising the quality of our work and also warranty it. Mr. [redacted] clock was first manufactured in 1991 making it now 25 years old and sustaining substantial mechanical wear within the wheel trains of it's movement. We contact each customer when their clock is completed and has been tested to let them know it is ready to make it's [redacted] home. We also notify each customer the day their clock ships out so that they may be expecting it and give them it's tracking number. I am not in the habit of contacting customers before their clock is finished to let them know how it's going or guess as to when it might be finished but when asked by a customer for a "status update" I am always happy to let them know about where there clock stands and give an approximate idea of how much longer it may take to complete. To my knowledge Mr. [redacted] has not tried to contact us by phone or email since we confirmed receipt of his clock to make inquiry and we had no idea there was an issue until being contacted by the Revdex.com concerning this complaint. If he has tried to contact us requesting a status update it would have been during or around the Holiday season which is our busiest time of year and myself and my office manager deal with tremendous amount of correspondence during this time as well as the normal day to day work and it's highly possible a communication from a customer could have overlooked due to high volume of both emails and phone calls we receive during this time. If such is the case we do apologize to Mr. [redacted] as we make it a priority to respond to everyone that contacts us within in a reasonable time. We do not ask for or demand payment up front. It is our preference not to receive payment until all work has been completed and the clock has been tested and ready to come home at which time we send out invoice when contacting the customer to inform them their clock is ready. Mr. [redacted] chose to send a $319.00 check along with his clock and payment in this amount for services rendered was accepted from him at this time. This advanced payment was accepted and appreciated however making a payment in advance does not speed up the process in which I am able to fully restore a vintage or antique clock nor does it put the clock which has been paid for in advance ahead of any other customer's clock in the line as I work through it. The fact we take each clock in the order received to be fair to all is stated clearly on our website and we try to make each customer aware of our average timeframe. Payment in advance also does not entitle anyone to a refund for services rendered once work has been started and performed on the piece as is with this clock which is now midway through restoration.I hope this helps give Mr. [redacted] some understanding as to where his clock sits in the process and ask that he wait patiently a little while longer as we work to complete and test the clock allowing us to send it home fully functional and under warranty to give many future years of faithful service. If he does not understand and cannot or will not wait until his clock is ready and tested I will gladly understand, put the clock back together as is and send it home in it's non functioning condition but there will be no refund for services rendered as much work has already gone into to this particular clock. Again I hope this is not the case and Mr. [redacted] understands and chooses to wait patiently as we much prefer to send home running clocks that will give many years of faithful service and have satisfied customers. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Owner returned repaired cuckoo clock with one wooden weight missing, rendering clock inoperable. Owner has ignored emails & numerous phone messages.Shipped our cuckoo clock by federal express for repair. Owner sent email acknowledging receipt in good condition.Owner shipped repaired clock [redacted] without informing us of shipping method. Prior to his shipping clock, we overnighted payment in full and owner cashed check June 18. We cannot receive mail to our physical address,so post office returned to sender as UNDELIVERABLE. Owner (SENDER) used an outdated RETURN ADDRESS label so package was lost. Owner took no responsibility and was uncooperative in trying to track missing clock.I finally contacted postal employee, [redacted] in Moscow, TN who found the missing clock in Jackson, TN. Clock was received damaged and one of the three wooden weights were missing. The clock is inoperable without ALL three weights. We contacted Owner, by email and phone message, the day after we received clock, July 13, to advise him of the above. Owner has been totally unresponsive to over 20 phone messages and emails. To date he has not responded to our pleas of fairness & decency to return or replace our missing wooden weight. Our cuckoo clock is a family heirloom valued at over $2500. Without the third wooden weight the clock will not run, nor will the musical feature operate.Desired SettlementWe are asking for a full refund of the repair charges we paid for; and either the missing wooden weight to be retured or replaced, to us.
