Mariani and Richards gave me a year guarantee of their work My last contact with them was last month, when I sent a Certified letter asking for a refund They have stopped responding to phone requests completely and have not responded to my Certified Letter I have hard copies of these letters originally provided to me by M&R and also my recent letter to them asking for a refund of $700--this does not included years of further damage to my house nor cleanup that is constantly required I also stated that I would be more than willing to rescind the year guarantee if they refund my moneyThank you for your assistance I am looking forward to finally moving past this matter

RevDex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. My entire complaint is based on the fact that the pipe replacement and sump work was never performed. Mr A has not been on site and has no way of knowing this. I do appreciate his response and am satisfied. Also, I am sorry that this situation happened and wish them well in the future. Regards, [redacted] ***

Dear [redacted],I am writing in response your letter in reference to ID#[redacted]. Our company sent a proposal to the customer on 12-16-13 to charge an hourly rate to investigate a water problem they were having. The customer had a pre-existing water remediation system installed by someone other than our company. That system was failing in a particular area. Our estimator recommended removing a section of pipe, replacing it and re-lining the sump pit. We completed that work in mid-January 2014 and, per the agreed upon hourly rate, billed $700.We have returned to the customer's home many times following complaint calls at no charge. On almost every occasion, mud and soils appeared on the floor. French drain systems are designed to carry away water and are not able to carry mud and soils. We had two separate Foremen and one Project Manager advise the customer that mud and soils were entering the exterior foundation wall underground through some currently unknown defect in the exterior foundation wall. The only way to address this issue would be to excavate, repair any defects and waterproof the foundation on the exterior. This is the only way to prevent the penetration of mud and soils which will continue to prevent an interior system from functioning properly. The customer told our personnel that they did not wish to do that repair and have not addressed that issue. We are approaching 69 years in business. During that time, we have never issued a warranty on a minor modification to another company's system. We only issue warranty paperwork when we install our complete system However, unbeknownst to me, our estimator issued a warranty letter without authorization. Nonetheless, as the warranty appears on our letterhead, we honored that warranty by going back to the customer's home 8-10 times at no charge. They continued to tell us they did not wish to do the exterior work. There is no interior remedy currently available if the customer does not fix the exterior problem. We wish to end this matter as well. As such, we are sending the customer's requested refund of $700 (see attached check) via US mail today. Any warranty will be null and void and we will have no further obligation to this customer. If you have any additional questions, please give me a call. Thank youGuy A[redacted]PresidentMariani & Richards, Inc.

Mariani and Richards gave me a 25 year guarantee of their work.  My last contact with them was last month, when I sent a Certified letter asking for a refund.  They have stopped responding to phone requests completely and have not responded to my Certified Letter.  I have hard copies...

Review: We had a water softner system installed and the work was so poorly done (I had plumber over for some other work and he noticed the horrible job that had been done by Culligan and pointed out the fire hazard and the things that were wrong) that I orignally called to have them send another installer back to fix the problem, but the salesman was so rude to me, I decided to just cancel the service all together. He then tried calling me back to get me to stay with them and I said no and called the general manager and explained the issue. I am STILL waiting for his return call to schedule this to be removed from my home. I have a water line ran up through my electrical lines pulling them down from the weight of the water in the line! I have a water hose sitting coiled up in a shower stall that we want to disassemble and have no idea what we are supposed to do with this hose that he decided to put in this shower stall for draining. We have tubes that are not anchored to the floor trusses and should be every 30 inches (per code) and are just loose and wiggle when touched. This man that did the install was mad he had a late appointment, and was mad he had to take out another reverse osmosis system that he had just put in the week prior (this was a home I had just purchased and this system was need for the water to test for closing). Bottom line was, I didn't want the system and I asked that he remove it - the sellers of the home had already paid for the install and a month of service, so it shouldn't have mattered. He was banging and slamming stuff around the whole time he was there. When I called the salesman back to tell him and ask that someone else come back to fix all these issues with the wiring and hose, he told me no one else could. I said I did not want that man back in my house and the conversation became heated. He suggested we terminate service and I agreed. I want my install refunded and do not want to be charged for this time the unit has been in my home. I want someone else to remove it.Desired Settlement: I want my install refunded and do not want to be charged for this time the unit has been in my home. I want someone else to remove it, NOT the installer that was there originally - I WILL NOT allow him in my home again!

Response:

As I told Ms. [redacted] when we originally spoke, I would remove equipment and fully refund her money. However she requested it be done by someone other than the person who installed it and it had to be after 4 pm or Saturday. Those being outside of our regular Business hours, I would have to get back to her as when I could schedule this to meet her conditions. I called yesterday (11/20/2014) and set it up forTuesday 11/25/2014 after 4 pm. As for the original equipment she did not want & that we removed. It was required by the Lender to close on the sale of the property since their water did not meet the Federal Safe Water Drinking Water Act for the contaminant, Nitrate. I don’t believe the Lenders intent was for this treatment equipment to be installed just to get an acceptable test only to have it removed one week after closing? But I could be wrong? Hope this help. [redacted]Culligan- La Crosse

Culligan of La Crosse installed our water system and during the installation the pipes were not secured completely and resulted in a slow leak. Over the course of several weeks, it caused extensive water damage to the finished basement. The insurance company covered the thousands of dollars of damages but Culligan would not stand behind their work or even cover the deductable because a "Good Samaritan" neighbor fixed the leak before Culligan was called and they claimed it was not their fault.
