I ordered a gift card for my sister almost two full weeks before Christmas. At no point during the checkout process was I warned that, if I were to choose to have a physical card sent (for an additional $3.25), I would not be able to get it delivered by Christmas. I had no one from the business follow up with me to indicate that the delivery was in any way delayed. On Christmas eve I found out that it has not been delivered yet, so I called the company. The company's automated line told me that orders were shipping slowly and that they might not make it for Christmas. I was very disappointed to hear that, especially to be hearing that for the first time. When I finally did speak to a representative, I expressed to her that if I had been given all of the information from the beginning or once they had it, I would not have ordered the physical card and thus would not have been charged the $3.25. She seemed largely unmoved by my complaint. While she was willing to send the digital version of the card so that it would be there for Christmas, she would not refund the $3.25 charge--a charge that I would not have agreed to if they had fuller disclosure or follow-through. If they have the information to feed to their automated line, then they should put that information on the website so that consumers can make informed decisions--not get tricked into an additional charge.
