All of us at Cummings Moving Company were immediately distressed when we saw this complaint, and we look forward to making specific details of this case public as soon as we can

While we found this claim
to be virtually impossible, As professional and responsible business owners, we still took it seriouslyWe had to - Our clients are the backbone of our business
In reviewing this particular job, however, we found no evidence that the accusation of theft is accurate; in fact, other vendors had access to the property during the time in questionAs we talk with with officials, work to publicly set the record straight, and manage the challenges of an errant complaint in this "internet age," we trust that those who really know Cummings Moving will see past the nature of this accusation
As for the allegation of "padding to increase poundage" we find the opposite to be factualThis shipment was estimated at 14,poundsIn fact, based on certified weight tickets, the actual weight was 14,When providing client with her original estimate, our estimator was confident in evaluation of goods moving and so we bound her shipment at estimated weightBottom line, her shipment weighed more then we anticipated - this client did not pay for one additional pound over the estimate
As far as allegations of use of "pick up workers" - please know that our crew members are vetted and trainedThey are permanent employees of Cummings Moving Company - We do not hire day laborersMany of our crew-members are long-term, dedicated employees who have been with our company for yearsExample: The crew on this particular job averaged 4-5yrs with Cummings
Because so many of our new clients are referred by existing ones, we care a great deal about their jobs, and take pride in the work we do for themFrom the back office, to the warehouse and in the field, we go out of our way to provide clients with a great moving experience that exceeds their already high expectations

RESPONSE: There were no other vendors working in our flat at the time *** was removing our more than already -packed boxes(More than alone in our sitting room and back parlors.) On Wednesday, July 15, they were in the basement, and in our lower flatThey were nowhere near the areas from which major thefts occurred(Our bath, bed, and dining rooms and linen closet.) "Nature of this accusation?" Do they think this is a joke? That I'm a bored housewife with nothing to do but fill out forms?

RESPONSE: Why put one item in a huge box and fill with more than pieces of paper? In one case, I got bored counting at sheetsIf the correct size box, or if the packer had bothered to shorten a box, weight might have been similar, but volume would have been smallerWe had to deal with housing huge boxes once they arrived(ITS, the Portland storage facility, was nice enough to take the wardrobes away the day they delivered the stuff to our houseWe were climbing over boxes

RESPONSE: HogwashThe thugs who ransacked our flat were certainly not the folks pictured on your siteThere was one native English speaker and the captain of the group spoke English, but none of the others spoke enough English to answer a questionBased on the packing skills, these were not people who had ever packed a thing before

RESPONSE: It has occurred to us that perhaps *** Messenger and *** *** may be the the most naive business owners in the countryPerhaps they have one gang of thugs working for them, and all other teams are Southern BaptistsI frankly don't careI just don't like the fact that we got the group that came into our house, took one look, decided we were senile ancients who didn't know what we had and wouldn't miss anythingUntrue
We are in the midst of having remodeling done to the house which we purchased, including building of a great many feet of book shelves for the 2000-plus volumes which were packed, and boxes filled out sitting roomWe know that there are several book boxes missing though *** record keeping was abysmal at end of day I signed sheet after sheet with nothing but their referenceless numbers, we had inventoried and numbered each book box as they were packed(Each book was individually wrapped within the boxes.) Each box, not just books, but boxes from every other room were marked not only with a number, but with wide strip of colored tape over the corners, so that it would be easy to direct movers at our eventual destinationThat worked
My husband has spent 40-plus years in public relations/editing, last of which have been with online social media companiesHis current contract is with a group catering to boomers, senior, and their communication with their caregiversI've spent only about years in PR, most recently working with groups dealing with boomers and seniorsMy particular interest has been housingThis is a perfect example of a company that should not be allowed to move a senior from their home to a senior community of which they are so many really nice ones on the Peninsula
When I discussed our problem with someone at a Palo Alto senior living community, they informed me that *** had already been removed from their suggested list of movers for prospective tenantsI was delighted to hear that think it's critical that going forward, other senior residences, and real estate companies, cross them off their lists
Besides, jewelry and sterling, we know there are several boxes of husband's books missingI'm missing at least two boxes of kitchenwares, and a couple of boxes containing books and ephemera from the bookshelves in my back parlor*** was there when I was packing those boxesOne contained an autographed 49er football *** Rice/*** *** daysSigned footballs are part of the international language
If the boxes were found, why hasn't *** contacted me? While watching my shipment being unloaded at ITS, I saw several very large items come off the truck as part of our shipmentThey were not: huge dog crate, pine and glass coffee table, and big black painted three or four shelf display rackCame off the truck mixed in with my shipmentThen when shipment delivered to our house, a picture frame, in cut-down *** box was delivered to usWe didn't open it for several days until looking for framed thingsImmediately informed Wheaton, who had it picked up via Federal ExpressCertainly didn't get a word of thanks from ***
I realize one of my mistakes was not getting up at 5:a.mand removing four gold bracelets from bathroom, emptying the chest of drawers in the bedroom where two socks of family jewelry were kept, and removing / packing sterling flatware as I had the sterling hollowareBut then, I should not have needed to have a guard on each *** employee, check their fingerprints, or know bonding numbersAs my husband has said: "We lived in San Francisco for years, never had a robbery until we invited in the burglars."
We should be able to do a better/final report on missing items when the carpenter working in husband's study has finished the bookshelves, they're painted and curedUntil then, we're living with a mountain of boxesI'm certain that all boxes relating to my parlor, kitchen and dining room have been opened I have a good grasp on what is missingAs I mentioned, because of *** Moving's paper mismanagement, it 's been much more difficult than it should have been to see just what is missingWe are holding all of "their" boxes and damaged items in case they want to send an inspectorWe've also taken some photos including one of the most recent horrific discovery, which I would be delighted to discuss
I would certainly welcome the chance to speak with *** Messenger or *** *** unless Mr*** was the exceedingly rude Latin-accented little person who answered the phone the morning of July He threatened to "Return the goods and dump them on the sidewalk." I hope this was not Mr***If he was, he is the rudest, most vulgar lhuman to whom I've ever spokenIf not, *** Messenger and *** *** should seriously consider whether this fellow should be working for them at worst he may be managing the thievesAt best, he's no asset
