I have used Cunningham Tire a few times and if I had any questions they were answer and was happy with the work they did and they stood behind their work,my only compliant is time you have to wait,, but to be FAIR they don't have enough workers which is not there fault,, they have signs up asking for more workers people just don't want to work

Review: I am concerned about 'bait and switch' based on 2 experiences in less than a week. Sept. 25 I brought in my daughter's car for new tires based on a quoted price of $485. The size turned out to be incorrect, however, the salesman showed me on his computer that the price quoted was cheaper than any set of tires they sell. I was shocked but paid the bill which was about the $200 we thought we were saving over other quotes. On Oct. 1 my husband took in one of our cars for tires based on a quote of $432. He went the day before to confirm the size etc. When his tires were installed, the bill came for $660. Also amounts to about the $200 we thought we were saving based on the quotes we'd gotten elsewhere. Shock is not the word. Thank goodness he was able to access the emailed quote and the manager (over objections of the finance lady) honored the price. We originally thought the incorrect tire size on the first transaction was a mistake on our part. Now I am not so sure.Desired Settlement: I believe we are due a refund for that first transaction based on the quote (altho' for incorrect size originally) and the fact that the salesman showed me on his computer that no set of tires were available for the quoted $485. I was in the shop about 3 hours before anyone told me about the size discrepancy. At that point, on a Friday, we had to have the tires and there was no option but to install at the much higher price rather than search for a better deal.

Response:

In response to Mrs. [redacted] complaint, I am not sure how you can do a bait and switchwhen the customer orders the wrong size tires !!!! My sales associate, [redacted], took the order on these tires from a gentleman that said he owned (2) 2013 Toyota Venza's and ordered (4) 245-50-20 Goodyear tires for the total price of $ 485.00. However, when the car arrived at Cunningham Tire on the 25th, the actual size was 245-55-19, which is a very rare size. We only stock 1 brand of tire in that size and that was the Firestone Destination LE, which sales for $644.00 a set. To answer Mrs. [redacted] concerns on nothing being priced at $485.00 in our computer system for a 19 inch size is correct, but remember, the size given to us was a 245-50-20 a special order Goodyear tire, so it would not have been in our computer system. Depending on the rim package for these vehicles, some come with 20 inch tires and some come with 19 inch, and yes there is a big price difference. However, if you notice on the invoice, we gave a $30.00 sales allowance trying to help with the unfortunate situation. We also had to return the Goodyear tires that was ordered wrong. So no, we do not feel that we owe any more of a discount than what was given. Sincerely,ID # [redacted] David Cunningham

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The "problem" has not yet been addressed.

At this point, I will be happy that the ocmplaint is registered. While I have said all along that I accepted that my son in law made a mistake in ordering the original set of tires. The problem was that less than a week later, another member of my family had basically the same thing happen but was lucky enough to have a paper trail of the quoted price. Per my original letter, he even went by the tire place the day before to be sure all was in order. Then spent the necessary time waiting for his tires to be installed and was presented with a shocking bill. After much discussion, the quoted price was honored. Now, two times in less than a week raised my eyebrows. Please post my concerns and consider the matter finished unsatisfactorily. [redacted]

Response:

[redacted] was the sales person for this special order set of tires. He had negotiated a discount for the customer through the manufacturer. He was off the day of the sale and did not confirm the discount rest of the staff. Once we called him on the price difference, the matter was resolved at the point of sale. Regards,

Review: I went to Cunningham Tire on October 18th 2013 at 12:50 to purchase two used tires for the front of my 99 Ford Taurus. They put on tires and I took my car home. When I got home I looked at them and noticed that they would not pass inspection in 3 months, were badly dry rotted and one of the wheel weights which was quite large was not put on properly and was barely clipped on the rim, but it should have been in-between the rim and the tire. I called Cunningham Tire and they told me to bring it in and they would fix it. I had to work as a delivery driver at [redacted] the next two days so I couldn't bring it in until around the 20th or 21th of October. During those days the wheel weight fell off and I could feel a slight vibration. I took my car in to them and they put on a new wheel weight, which I looked and checked out immediately. It was about a third of the size as the original wheel weight and was on the opposite side of the rim, which I thought was odd. On the drive home I still noticed a vibration, which was worse now than when the wheel weight was off. I also noticed that my brakes felt odd and sounded like they were grinding and pulsing. I couldn't drive back because I had to immediately go to work until 1am. The next morning I went to look and see what was wrong. I pulled the hubcap off the front passenger tire and a lug nut fell to the ground. I looked at the remaining lug nuts and they were about two turns from falling off as well. I got angry because that is a hazard and a danger to my safety and to the safety of others on the road. I called Cunningham tires and asked to speak to the owner. They said that he was on vacation but would be back the first of the week. He then said that he would put my car on a lift and personally check all the suspension and related parts for wear for free if I did not talk to the owner. I told him no thank you but I would like the owner to know what happened. On the 24th of november I was at work driving, and heard a pop. I was in the parking lot of the store so I drove it and heard a hissing. I felt around and where the tread meets the sidewall and there was a crack of dry rot with a gash about an inch long. I got angry because I deliver for a job and Cunningham Tires' products and services had failed yet again. I called Cunningham the next day and told him what had happened. He told me that he would replace my tire with another used tire for just the price of the labor. I told him "no and I don't want your used tires on my car, what can you do about new tires?" He then told me he would give me $24 off of a new pair. I said I wanted all my money back for the used tires I purchased because I don't want them and he would just resell it anyway. He told me that because a tire specialist initialed under torque that it was not their fault that the lug nuts came loose after a month and that there was nothing more he could do.Desired Settlement: I would like them to lift the car and check for worn parts and replace them, specifically in suspension, drivetrain, and brakes on the front end due to their poor service and products. I also want a new set of tires mounted and balanced with the original purchase price of the used tires, which was $44.33 deducted as a discount.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] was offered (2) new tires for $109.00 dollars, which is $35.00 off the normal cost, and we were going to mount and balance them for free. He refused, and then he and his family or friends (they never identified themselves), started yelling and cursing at our customers, even tried to block them from getting to the counter so they could pay their bill. We had to call the police and have them escorted off the premises. Therefore we feel that it would be in both parties best interest of Mr. [redacted] would take his business elsewhere.

David Cunningham

I am sorry about my family. Please do not let your frustration against them prevent us from coming to an agreement. they were concerned about my safety. But that does not change the fact that my lug nuts were not properly tightened. regardless if your tire tech has signed off on torque for tire nuts, they should not be loose after a little over one month. Even if the vehicle was a rally car, the tire nuts should not be sitting in the hubcap. Therefore, due to liability and safety of myself and other drivers on the road, I am respectfully retaining my offer and can promise that in the future that they will not be present for any possible future engagements.

[redacted],

Mr. Cunningham said he would replace 1 used tire or 2 new tires at cost they agreed on at $ 87.00.

This is for 2 new tires, tax and mount and balance. He will also check the front end for worn parts.

Regards,

David Cunningham
