I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
I would like to reject the business response because they haven't provided the name of the ASE Master Tech and that Tech's ASE Certificate ID number in order for me to verify that the Tech is in fact ASE certified. I've attached a form that was sent to me by *** *** at ASE, so that you and *** @ Currie Auto can see that the information I'm requesting is required by ASE in order to verify Currie employs ASE certified techs. On 9-5-14, Currie refused to give the ASE #(s) on the grounds that they were the tech's SS#, which I can understand. However, providing the SS# is only one of three optionsI tried to tell him there should be an ASE certificate ID# that is not the SS#. He then gave me the number *** and the name ***. When I asked what this number represented is when he hung upAs you can see from the attachment, I'm going to need the first, last and middle initial and the ASE Certificate ID number. FYI, the initials of the tech who worked on my car is JY(***?)

Review: The week of 4-28-14(invoice is dated 4-30-14) I took my car in for an oil change and to determine the source of a leak which I suspected was power steering fluid since another auto shop had previously told me the pressure power steering hose had a small leak. [redacted] @ Currie advised me it was the power steering pump that was leaking. So, I gave him the go ahead to replace it and at the same time replace the pressure hose. Shortly after picking up the car on 4-30-14, I noticed a whining or moan noise on turns(both directions) that occurred mostly on hard turns. I thought there may be air in the system that needed to work itself out but after a month, I called [redacted] @ Currie to ask him to check what the problem may be, expecting that Currie just needed to bleed some air out of the system. However, when I took it in on 6-10-14, [redacted] told me I needed a new rack&pinion unit. I told him that seemed odd since I had a new steering rack installed in 2012 and the whining/moans from the power steering came after Currie worked on the car. After I got home and read the 6-10-14 written estimate, I found that Currie incorrectly described the problem as having a whining noise on right turns only. I started to do some research to determine what else could be causing this noise. The other possibilities were air still in the system from a variety of sources or the pump was damaged if system wasn't properly flushed and bled or the pump was bad to begin with. I have since been reluctant to go to another mechanic and spend more money to further diagnose the problem and possibly ruin my chances of getting any recourse from Currie, if it turns out they're responsible for fixing the problem. So, I've been calling around and talking to mechanics and today took my car to Monro on Capitol Dr in Brookfield just to get a 2nd opinion and was told the sound IS a bad pump and that he(mechanic @ Monro) shined a flashlight in the power steering fluid and it was shiny from metal shavings that he assumes are from the damaged pump.Desired Settlement: I would like the power steering pump replaced at no charge or be refunded the cost of the power steering pump and the related labor that was charged in April. I would prefer the refund because I'm afraid if Currie doesn't properly flush and bleed the system, I'm going to have the same problem again. FYI, I thought they were ASE certified technicians because they advertise it on the outside of their shop and on their brochures but when I called them 9-5-14 and asked for [redacted]'s ASE#, the man I spoke to(I believe it was the owner [redacted]) said [redacted] doesn't work here anymore but that all his mechanics are ASE certified. When I asked for a number and name of one of the mechanics, he refused to give it out. When I pressed him, he gave me a number(that doesn't match what an ASE number should look like) and a first name only of Jeff and said the numbers are displayed on the walls of the shop, then he hung up on me. I went to Currie to get gas today and I didn't see any individual ASE numbers displayed but it's possible I missed it. I'm beginning to think that the mechanics are not ASE certified and that's why I now prefer a refund. Also, I should mention that in April I asked [redacted] if I would be getting the estimate in writing(as they advertised) and he talked me out of it. In hindsight I see that should have been a red flag. They also advertise an 18 month warranty(FYI).

I was told I needed ball joints for my vehicle. Went to another garage and was shown there was no play in the tires and there was nothing wrong with the ball joints. I will not go back and strongly advise others to go elsewhere, they are not reputable. Currie auto is in business to separate people from their money, not to provide an honest service at a fair price.
