Curtis Auto and Detail Reviews (3)

*** *** *** purchased a car from Curtis Auto Detailing LLC on 2/14/Enclosed you will find her invoice in question for the repairs on the *** *** The vehicle was towed for free by Curtis Auto from Rochester NY as per her mothers requestUpon receiving the car and taking a
look at what was going on under the hood the technician diagnosed for engine repairUnsure at this point how extensive of a repair. As you can see from her Bill of Sale her claims that she purchased an extended warranty is not trueCurtis Auto entered into a buy here pay here agreement with Mrs ***As the lien holder there would be no reason to not properly fix the carCurtis Auto and Detail purchased an extended warranty through GWC that was for days /miles After many phone conversations, finally the warranty company came to the repair shop to physically look at the engine They declined to pay for the repair claiming that because of carbon buildup on piston rings causing to consume oil and starve the engine of lubrication, damaging the crank shaft bearingsA used engine block was installed using some parts from the original engineIn effect the Technician rebuilt the engine, transferring cylinder heads, water pump and timingNew head gaskets, oil filter, coolant and thermostat were installedUnder NYS she received the day limited warranty and the car was repaired at no cost to Mrs***The extended warranty has expired as well as her original warranty. On July 3rd the Subaru was towed and dropped at Curtis AutoThe shop was closed on Monday,July and Tuesday, July for the HolidayWhen we reopened on Wednesday July 5th there were several voicemail's of which were from Mrs ***One on July 3rd around pm saying the car died while driving and she had it towed to Curtis Auto On July 4th at or around pm a voicemail was left saying if we didn't get to her car immediately and in a timely fashion she was having it towed to another shop and would have it out of our parking area by noon on July 5, Now because we have been closed for days we had a lot of people already pre-booked and were very busy there was no way any of our technicians could have gotten it pushed in and looked at by noon that morningThat afternoon *** *** *** came and towed the *** out of the parking lot of Curtis Auto at Mrs ***s request. Included are two photos of Mrs ***s odometer and the oil change sticker in the upper left of the windshield These photos were taken on July 5th as reference that since the repairs were made in April Mrs *** has since taken the car to another business to have her oil changedDid *** *** put the proper amount and brand of oil in the car? Did they notice anything leaking or anything wrong with the car during the oil change ? Also, before a technician at Curtis Auto could take a look at the *** she had it removed from the parking lotWhich now another business claims it needs a new engine. Given the chance to look at the car maybe a resolution could have been madeWe were not given the opportunity to do soTodd *** is not willing to take the word of another repair shop and pay to have it fixed someplace elseTherefore an appointment can be made to have the car brought into Curtis Auto and evaluate what the problem is but at this point the warranty with this engine is expired

Mrs *** request for a refund was and still is denied by Curtis Auto and Detailing due to not following our warranty policyIt clearly states on all of our invoices , please see attached invoices and at the bottom there is a disclaimer , Warranty on parts and labor is months or 18,
miles whichever comes firstWarranty work has to be performed in our shop & cannot exceed the original cost of the repairAn effort was not made by Mrs*** to contact Curtis Auto and give our repair shop the opportunity to do the warranty work Taking it to another shop and having them work on a warranty item voids the in house warranty all togetherI'd like to point out as well that the purchase date on this complaint is incorrectIt was not 8/24/but rather 7/26/for the first replacement of a wheel bearing at Curtis Auto Todd Curtis replaced the first wheel bearing on 9/12/at no chargeMrs *** is claiming the third wheel bearing had to be replaced at miles by *** ***As I noted earlier our warranty is months or 18,miles whichever comes firstIf you do the basic math, the 2nd bearing failed at 20,miles according to our records, which is well over our warranty period Unfortunately because our policy was not followed we are unable to give any refund

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[We were told that the part in question came with a lifetime
warranty as did many other parts that we have had installed by [redacted] Auto and
Detail over timeIf Todd [redacted] now wants to hide behind his fine print, go
back on his word and not stand behind the parts he installed, that is fine by
usIt's unfortunate and unprofessional that it took him days, a phone call
from [redacted] and communications from the Revdex.com to finally come to
this conclusion.
Our last service at this garage was for worn out ball
jointsWe requested replacement joints with grease fittings be installed to
extend the life of the partsThe vehicle was returned to us with a mixed bag
of parts: some with and some without fittingsTo top it off, there was no
grease put in the joints that did have fittingsIt was brought to Todd's attention
right after servicing and no attempt was made by him to correct either problem
This led us to go back to a dealership for our service needs
Curtis Auto and Detail has shown us that they do not stand
behind their word or their products and definitely did not strive to exceed our
expectationsI'm sure we aren't the first customers he has lost and that we probably
will not be the lastIn our opinion, Todd and his ASE "tested" staff will
continue to take advantage of their customer's one at a time until they see
through his "bull" and decide to go elsewhere
In addition to the recent wheel bearing problem we had with
our Trailblazer; and having to have it replaced over and over, we also had
to do the same thing with other "lifetime warranted" parts from Curtis Auto and
Detail on our GMC SierraWhereas Curtis Auto and Detail performed the
following:
90,miles – installed
front brake pads and rotors
99,miles – had to
have the same rotors replaced
114,miles – again
had to have the same rotors replaced and the brake pads too!
My husband and I would much rather have parts of these
importance replaced once as compared to two or three timesWe now use a dealership
with ASE Certified Technicians using quality OEM parts that actually honor
their lifetime warranties
While it is unfortunate and made clear to us that Todd is
upset that we have decided to take our vehicles to another service provider, we
don't feel that he has taken the appropriate action to rectify the problem that
we did have at Curtis Auto
and Detail
Telling my husband on Saturday, 2/20/2016, that he would take
care of it knowing that the part was replaced elsewhere and then ignoring us
after is no way to do businessA professional business owner would have
contacted us and attempted to resolve the matter to both parties satisfaction
before resorting to complaints being filed with [redacted] and the Revdex.com
If nothing else we can now surely tell someone where not to go for serviceI would
strongly recommend anyone having work done at Curtis Auto and Detail make sure
they get whatever Todd says
in writing so he isn't able to go back and hide behind his fine print down the
road.]
