Review: My wife and I needed a new roof on our house. We contacted Curtis Roofing and a salesman by the name of [redacted] came out to talk with us. The 1st time he was out we went over colors, brand of shingle and asked about pricing. My wife and I talked it over and had [redacted] out a 2nd time to confirm everything i.e., time to complete project and final pricing. During this 2nd time out we asked about metal roofing on a small portion of our roof, [redacted] stated that it shouldn't be a problem but had to talk to the boss and find out how much more money it would be. We gave [redacted] a $1000 deposit at which point my wife and I both asked if it was refundable, [redacted] said yes it is, he furthermore stated that his company didn't need to keep any deposit that they had plenty of work and money. He left the house and was supposed to get back with us within a couple of days about metal roofing, that did not happen. My wife called [redacted] several times with no answer, finally I called with a different number and he answered, [redacted] stated that in order to get the metal roofing on the house it would cost another $10,000. I let [redacted] know that I received another bid and it was approximately $2000 more than his bid but the other company would take care of the metal portion at no extra charge. [redacted] said he would talk to his boss about pricing and stated that they needed extra scaffolding for the metal portion of the roof. [redacted] than stated that if he could not get price down of metal roofing that he would refund us are deposit. Again [redacted] never called me back, I tried calling and calling, finally my wife emailed him again no response. My wife and I talked about [redacted]s lack of communication and decided that we didn't want to go forward with a company that couldn't at the very least call a potential client back. We sent a cancellation letter out to Curtis Roofing, again nobody called us back. Finally my wife sent out an email to [redacted] responded back that because he spent so much time on us that he couldn't refund us our money.Desired Settlement: I would like my deposit back in full.
