My security deposit was withheld and I am being charged a break lease fee and a month's rent after giving proper notice and vacating the unit because they would not fix the maintenance issues I was having over the last years

I had a good first impression of this business when my roommates and I signed our lease last fall, but since then I wish we would've chosen any other property management company in East LansingWe have not even moved into our house yet, and we've already had an absolutely terrible experience
The employees are disorganized and condescending, the secretaries are not in communication with any one in the office, and the house we are moving into is currently in an un-livable condition When we called to speak to someone regarding our rent, and the secretaries repeatedly gave us the contact information of an employee that no longer works thereNo one returns phone calls, and it took us going into their office to finally get some answersWhen we arrived at the office, employees are walking around barefoot, in grease stained t-shirts, and you can hear yelling and swearing from people on the phones in their offices
They could not explain the increased rent charge that was being emailed to us, the secretaries said someone crossed one of our roommates off of a lease without warning, creating an increase in rentAfter speaking with our new property manager, she was terribly rude and condescending when attempting to explain the increase in rent, saying that it was "easy to understand." The online payment portal is constantly inaccurate and not descriptive of feesThey have overcharged us and then never gave the refunds they promisedWe are looking forward to paying our next two rent payments, and being completely done with MTH management for goodHopefully we get our deposit back at the end of our lease, even though I'm sure we'll have to hound them for that as wellI urge everyone to avoid working with this company at all costs

This management company and its employees are nothing but trashYou will get nothing done including repairs, scheduled appointments won't occur and you will never be shoveled or plowed leaving you struggling in to inches of snow on your way to workNothing But Trash!

I have lived in a loft managed by MTH for four years and it it hands down the worst management I’ve ever had to deal withMaintenance issues take years to get resolved if they get resolved at all, communication is terrible if at allI’d never recommend them to anyoneI’m only giving one star because I have to give a star to leave my review

I lived in *** *** *** in Toledo, Oh for yearsThe apartment was under different managementIn March of I told the apartment manager at that time that I was moving out and I supplied him with my day notice that I would be moving out on March 31, Shortly after I noticed the letter that MTH Management will be taking overI called the new manager *** number to ask her if she knew about me moving out and can we do a walk through before I have to move outShe gave me the run around and then she sent another woman to do the walk through with meI turned in my apartment key on March 31, to the employees working in the back officeIn June I received an invoice saying that I owe rent for April & May along with late fees totaling $& the letter states that I moved out May 15, which is untrueSo I spent the next week and a half trying to reach *** & the MTH officeI left numerous messages explaining to them that I mo

No work done on my apartmentMy slip and fall due to due tockacc if lack of maticinvce due no job their van bad bugs along with noisy neighborsThe new property manager has been extremely rude and has not taken care of anything that I have talk to her about I have experienced issues with her also helped her to get tenets out due to a drug dealings and hereI have also had to fix things myself and go out and buy supplies but I have not gotten a phone call back and I these things should be taking off my rentI’m very dissatisfied with the service and the rudeness of both Property Mgr.’s and the maintenance crew guess I have numerous issues going on in my apartmentI have leaks in my apartment

In January of I gave the management company $for security deposit and to hold apartmentOn Feb 1,I moved into *** *** apartments and paid first month's rentThings were fine until March of when they lost part of my rent payment totaling $So for the next several months I paid extra to make up for the $they had lostJune of I was informed we were under new management MTH managementIt was at this time that MTH Management started sending eviction notices stating that I owed $for unpaid rentI provided them with proof that I made the payments to no avail
In December of the neighbors flooded the bathroom causing our bathroom to cave inMaintenance never repaired thisIn January of we were given notice that our lease ended on Feb and that we would have to be out by thenFeb 15th we moved the last of our items out and gave them written notice that we were outMarch 10th of our neighbor told us they served us with evictio

MTH took over my lease from my old management company, and has quickly made a terrible impressionI was not notified at all of their takeover, until rent was due and the old company wasn't accepting paymentsI asked them to help me mediate a health and safety concern with my neighbors and they informed me that it would be too much work for them, and that I would be a higher priority if I had children in the apartmentWe have a continuing fire hazard on the grounds that they will not do anything to resolveI will be moving as soon as my lease is up and never renting from MTH again

I have rented in the East Lansing area for years, and this company, is, by far, the worst leasing company I have dealt withHere are a few occurrences of what happened:
1) We signed an addendum in our lease to let us have the our dog in the houseMonths into the lease, we got mail saying that we had been assessed a $fine for having an illegal pet, and would be evicted if the dog was not removed from the property within a certain amount of daysWe brought up the addendum but they conveniently did not have it anymoreWe were forced to register the dog as an ESA, and still had to bay a $fine
2) Upon move-in, two rooms were unpainted ("guaranteed" to be painted within a week, took about a month and a half in reality), there were holes and scratches on the walls and floors, one of the toilets did not work (was never fixed, despite multiple requests), the previous tenants trash was scattered all over the lawn and driveway (the city fined us for this), there was a bicycle and lumber and trash in the basement, mold in the basement and bathrooms, and multiple windows would not open (were never fixed)3) For the first three months of our residence, we were overcharged in rent by about $In the lease, it is stipulated that if the rent is paid on time, this charge is dropped, as a discountHowever, that was not communicated to the billing staff, so we received multiple late notices, despite paying before the 1st of the month4) Had MULTIPLE car break ins, and requested a camera be put up to help deter this activityNo actions were ever taken, and the break-ins continuedIf you rent from them, be sure to keep your cars locked at night and have a working alarm system
5) Snow removal was guaranteed in the lease, but we had to shovel the driveway ourselves or our cars would get stuck (which happened often)
6) Property manager will not answer texts in a timely mannerGenerally taxes about hours to days for a response, if one ever comes7)At one point we were locked out of the house for a day because the lock broke (Broke times in all) and they could not get maintenance over to repair it
8) Windows and doors only shut most of the way, one of ours was stuck open an inch throughout JANUARY, despite repeated maintenance requests
There are countless other problems that we experienced with this company, too many to continue listing
MTH is a poorly run, poorly organized companySave yourself a headache and rent from someone elseIf you do rent from them, make sure that you get a copy of every single signed document

MTH should be ashamed of themselves for how they treat their customersWe completely overpaid for a garbage home in East Lansing as they take advantage of students needing housingMove in was obnoxiousWe were accused of stealing keys (...as if we needed to steal them? We were paying for them! Keys come with the house!) and the move in assessment took hours, as I kept pointing out damages and being told not to write them downTrash was left in a storage room of our home from previous tenants/maintenance and after constantly asking to remove itI guarantee it is still there for the next tenantsThroughout our time living in an MTH property - we had several maintenance problemsTo name a few: not proper running water in most showers, pipes not working with the washer (that you pay to rentscam) holes in the ceiling due to leaking and mold, mice living in the same ceiling with the holes, water SEEPING UP THROUGH THE GROUND DUE TO A CRACKED FOUNDATION when there are bedrooms in the basement, etcetcetcMTH made an unlivable home and put a damper on our school year when we had been nothing but good, clean tenants who always paid onetime/early and didn't ask for more than a house we could safely live inThey absolutely SHOULD NOT be in businessToday calling and inquiring about the security deposit we still have not received post days of our lease being up I asked to speak with someone with a higher ranking than the receptionist - to which she said "of course" and hung up on meClearly customer satisfaction is not something they are worried about

This is by far the WORST company I have ever seen as far as running apartments and maintaining properties goesAfter years of dealing with a company that refuses to fix anything, I couldn't be happier to be moving out! They consistently cannot keep maintenance on staff, they change rules without letting tenants know, and if you need to get ahold of someone to fix something, good luck! They did not have an on-site manager so no one had any idea what was going on at our property most of the timeThey screw their tenants over by not keeping entry ways and windows well sealed so their energy bills are outrageous$ for a sqfoot apartment with only of heaters running during the winter would make anyone's blood boilI hope this company goes out of business and is sued by tenants for it's failure to uphold any part of the lease
