One Star is way much for this thief! Wish I had researched him before hiring. Huge lesson learned.
Jay Hale has used several different company names over his lengthy criminal career as a so called contractor. Why this man is not in Jail is beyond me. We asked for a bid on repairing some water damage on our garage door header and to add a covered porch to the rear of our house. He asked for a 4,000.00 draw as he calls it. To get us set up on his schedule. The total would be $11,000.00 He said he should be ready in a couple of weeks to get started. I went a head and removed the garage door before he said he would show. Two months later he sends over two kids high on who knows what to replace the header. They cut it too short and then tried to cover it up before I saw it. I removed two strips of drywall and found the worst workmanship I have ever witnessed. I took pictures and sent them to Jay. He said he would take care of it. To his credit he did send to older employees out and they replaced the jack studs to make it look somewhat acceptable. They finished a small section of drywall that was removed to replace the header, replaced 4 pieces of osb on the side of the garage. And that’s the last I have heard from Mr. Jay Hale. He will not answer the phone so don’t even try to communicate with that way. He will respond to text sometimes. So here I am 2 months after his employees left my house. No siding, a half a[censored] wrapped garage that is tearing off with the wind. He said all my material is in his top secret warehouse. Jay’s only warehouse is at Home Depot which his employees went to 4 hours everyday they were working on my garage. Do your research on this thief. The amount of fraud is staggering. I got ripped off but not near as much as others I have found.

Beware!!! /Jay Hale Ripoff Artist / Beware!!!
We hired scam artist Jay Hale back in 2015 to replace the siding and gutters on our house. His company at the time was called Clear Choice Exteriors in Lagrange, Ga. He asked for 1/2 of the payment to get started. We wrote him a check and he said he could get started the following week. This turned into a month and he sent his crew out to remove the siding and gutters. He told me that all the material’s were at his warehouse and they would be back the following week. This also turned into another month before he showed up. They had no siding with them but rewrapped the house with paper. He told me that the gray vinyl siding was out of stock after he told me earlier that it was in his personal warehouse. After a couple of weeks his crew showed up and started replacing the siding for a few days. Then they walked off the job because Jay Hale had not paid them in several weeks. Waited another couple of weeks with all the material laying in my driveway. They finally finished the job. This nightmare lasted over 3 months with hundreds of phone calls that he never answered. Left voicemails and texts instead. If he did reply he always had some crazy excuse with family issues. He told me so many lies that he told me the same lies several different times. I am a very patient person and was generally concerned about his family until he couldn’t keep up with all his lies. We were swindled by this con artist. I am warning anyone thinking about hiring this man. Don’t do it! Our house was left exposed to the elements for way to long for a job that he said shouldn’t take more than 3-4 days.

BEWARE! DO NOT HIRE! Custom Creations Construction (CCC) owner made false promises on project completion timelines, disappeared from the project site for weeks or months at a time while being unresponsive to phone calls, voice mail messages and text messages, and not fulfilling each phase of the project through proper finish to Code despite providing it in writing. He also became suddenly responsive and reappeared to do minimal work for part of a day in order to receive the next payment or "draw" as he called it.

I never saw all the materials he said he spent my money on even though he told me that he only purchases materials specifically for my project and that they would be shipped to my project site (home) the day before or on the start date. When he and his crew did show up they brought some materials and often took trips to local *** stores to buy other materials "on the fly".

Owner was not be able to meet any of the project timelines that he promised. He promised my screen porch would take 5 - 7 days to finish and gave me a start date of 2 weeks later from the day I gave him my 1st payment (deposit for the materials that were never shipped). He didn't start until over 3 weeks later after my repeated text messages and calls demanding to know when he'd be out to start the project. He responded saying "Sorry, there must have been a misunderstanding."

During the full 5 month ordeal, weeks and months went by without seeing the owner or his crew and the owner inconsistently responded with various excuses for not showing up on site or he didn't respond at all. During one of the few times he and his crew showed up, he broke one of my back bedroom windows when a piece of wood he was cutting flew into the glass pane. He pointed it out to me while joking and laughing about it and saying he'd have it repaired right away. That took 6 weeks of me repeatedly demanding that he get the widow fixed. The irony is that windows are a central focus of his business.

When the owner finally hired an experienced contractor to build the bulk of the screened porch who worked very hard for 6 consecutive days, 8 days total, the project was into its 5th month. On the last day of this last week, the owner arrived on site with a teenager by his side, and he rushed his contractor to finish what he could of the porch as soon as possible while the owner rushed to install an electrical line and junction box for a ceiling fan in a haphazard and dangerous way that was not to Code. And I had to stop him before leaving my project site for good to get him to finish the outside roof trim. He didn't have the proper roof eave trim material on hand like cedar or other wood to match my existing house roof trim, so he asked his contractor to slap up a thin piece of wainscoting. And he only attached it to 1 of the 3 sides of the roof so it didn't match the other 2 sides of the roof. He wouldn't have put any trim up at all if I hadn't stopped him before leaving and asked him about it.

The owner also did not "finish" the job with proper siding on the outside of the porch and did not replace the siding on the chimney that was agreed to per the contract. I had to hire a separate contractor to complete those tasks including proper roof trim on all 3 sides of the screened porch to match my existing roof eaves. And I had to hire an electrician to re-install the electrical line and junction box for the ceiling fan properly and safely to Code. I also had to reinforce the screen porch post footers with additional cement to bring them to Code.

All in all it was a stressful, challenging and extremely unpleasant experience working with the owner of CCC and I wished I had never hired him. The work he did was not properly done to Code - he actually told me he didn't need to get any building permits b/c it wasn't considered "living space". I had to submit a credit card dispute on one of the payments/draws, nag and badger him with numerous text messages and phone calls, voice mails and threaten to take legal action to get him to finish the job. But even after all was said and done, the project was not completed properly to Code or finish or within the agreed to timelines per the written contract, which is technically a breach of contract on his part. I just want to warn others not to hire him and spare them the negative experience. No matter what the owner says he will or can do, don't believe it!

What a surprise. I wish I had seen the comments below before hiring *** and the company he represented at the time to re-do my siding on my house. My story is no different than the ones below...half the money up front, demolition, and disappearance. Didn't answer the phone or respond to text messages. Unfortunately, my job was a siding job and demolition consisted of tearing the old siding off and putting it in a dumpster. All of that occurred within 1 week and then it sat and sat for two months exposed to the elements. I threatened a lawsuit and was finally contacted by the owner of the company *** WAS employed by. This occurred last summer *** Regardless, I'll be a very happy poor reference for *** in court if it comes to that, and I hope it does.

Paid *** a lot of money up front for a job that was supposed to be done in 4 weeks...a year later it is still not done right. Made several attempts to work with the guy even paying him before the job was even started and then had two of the contractors that wouldn't finish what they started because they were not paid for their work. On top of that received a letter from the dumpster company he hired because he didn't even pay them and they couldn't get him to answer their phone calls. I would never recommend this company or Jay Hale to do any work. Would love to see a class action lawsuit against this company and this individual.
