Custom Curbing & Decorative Concrete Reviews (%countItem)

On March 4, 2020, I signed a contract with Keith Mort, of Custom Curbing & Decorative Concrete, Inc., for decorative curbing in my yard.
The enclosed contract specified that work should begin within two weeks of the date the contract was signed. On the 23rd of March, I received a text from Keith Mort that he was bitten on the hand by his dog, stating that as soon as his hand heals he will start the work. I heard nothing more from him until April 3rd, after I sent him a text, asking when he will start the curbing work. He responded that he has the Flu, but "I don't think I have cornavirus". On April 6, I texted him and requested him to tell me when he will do the work. From April 6 onward to this date, May 13, I have received via text from Keith, nothing but excuses of problems that are delaying his doing this job. I have 14 pages of text to prove this. When I first opened your website, I noted that there have been other similar complaints about Keith Mort and his concrete business. I believe this individual is nothing but a scammer, especially with elderly people, and the Revdex.com should do what you can, if anything, to protect and advise future customers. I have enclosed a copy of my contract, and a copy of the check upon which I paid him.

Desired Outcome

Whatever Revdex.com can do to help and protect the public (especially senior citizens) from this individual and his company.

I gave Keith a $500 deposit to do our curbing project and he never showed up after that. He would tell us a day that he would come and there was always an excuse for why he didn't show up. He was very hard to get a hold of after he got our deposit. We asked for our money back and he said he would send it but that never happened. We even offered to come get it from his job/office which is a home address. He was very dirty and unprofessional. Pulled up to my house with a woman (I assumed his wife) in a garbage filled truck and had to dig around for the paperwork.

On Feb 14, 2018 I signed a contract with Mr Keith M of Custom Curbing and Decorative Concrete to have my newly poured concrete patio stamped with a decorative design. I paid $800.00 dollars on that date. The new concrete was not fully cured so we agreed to have him start the work 30 days later. Keith returned on March 6, 2018 to remove the old painted design and spent 2.5 hours on the job and I paid him another $200.00. He told me he would return in 2 weeks and check the new concrete and acid wash the concrete in preparation for the stamping. Two weeks (March 23, 2018) later he returned and indicate the new concrete was still not cured and he did not want start the job until the concrete was cured as he felt it would not bond properly and would come up. So I waited another month (now April 20, 2018) and asked him to come check it to see if it was cured . He said it was not ready and that he would be back in 30 days but never showed up. I called him on May 28, 2018 and he returned and splashed some acid on the concrete and said it was still not ready. He did not return on June 7, 2018 as we had agreed so I once again called him and he reported he had lost his helper and was interviewing replacement candidates. His next reason for not coming or postponing the project was due to rain which did not happen. Finally on July 5, 2018 he came by and spread some bonding agent (looked like *** glue) and said he would be back in in 2 days to complete the job. Then he called two days later and said his *** suppler had not gotten the mix he needed so he would have to wait until Monday July 9, 2018. He called on July 9, and said the supplier (***) had messed up his order. The excuses continued (rain in forecast, supplier issues, etc.)through July 12th, at which time I asked him to return $800.00 of the money I had paid. Again the excuses began. First he was going to return my money on Saturday July 14, 2018 and on July 13 he called and agreed to return $800.00 by July 19 since he would have to go by his bank to get a check cut. So, here we are 5 months after starting this project and I still have nothing to show for the $1,000.00 I paid Mr. Keith M nor have I gotten my money back as of the date of this writing. My suggestion to anyone contemplating using this company is "Don't do it".

Custom Curbing & Decorative Concrete Response • Jul 25, 2018

John M ,had a company pour fresh concrete the concrete poured when it was really cold out back corner of his porch would not cure because they ran low on concrete at the very end of the truck John M told me that I don't know why for sure but I just know it was not curing properly and it kept peeling off I did an acid clean pressure wash that kept coming up.. I was working on trying to get ready for some time it was not fully cured it took some time to get it right I decided after as many times is I've been there to try to get the concrete to be right that I'm not going to do the job because the concrete is not right and I don't want to put an overlay on it if it's not ready I don't think it's going to be ready.. I did everything in my power to try to make the concrete able to handle an overlay.. sorry John M hopefully you're concrete overlay sticks well with another company.. I just know you're going to have problems...

Although Keith M is correct with his information about the project, he left out several very important parts. There was no mention of the return of my $800.00 deposit money for the purchase of materials and nothing about the scheduling delays over the 5 months. As a footnote, I have had another concrete company inspect the new slab and they assured me it is fine and will be acceptable for stamping.

Custom Curbing & Decorative Concrete Response • Jul 27, 2018

The person that laid the concrete is probably the one that said it's okay to be stamped that's fine but now it's on them not me and John you know I told you I don't want to be responsible for it popping up let them be.. Thank you for the opportunity I grinded off your paint put the strongest bonding agent that I think might help it stick that I know will work down hopefully that'll help you but I know you need another bonding agent before the stamp is applied.. thank you stay in touch..
