Horrible business. The owner, [redacted] employs very shady people to work for him, and he himself engages in highly questionable methods/tactics. Had a private detective show up to me house asking about him. This guy and his business are NO GOOD.

Review: Hired Custom Landscaping to install my lawn and a small retaining wall at my new home. The retaining wall is great, and I have no issues with that. As for the rest of the lawn, the installation is far from acceptable. The grade is very bumpy and uneven. There is no smooth slope away from the house to the edge of the lot or curb, it rolls up and down and collects water in the low spots which washed away the seed and grass never grew. Along the edges of the driveway, the grade was left far below the concrete, as much as 2 inches low along most of the east side of the driveway, and about 1 inch along the west side of the driveway. On the east side of the driveway grass never even grew because the low grade kept water from draining to the curb and the seed flooded out. I did sign in the contract that I would pay for the additional cost of dirt for fill if it was needed, and clearly it was, but they just didn't take the time to do it correctly. Surface rocks were never removed and several large rocks are scattered around the yard. In the backyard, the original rough grade was not correct when they started the project. I was unaware of the situation, I'm not a landscaper and don't know what it's supposed to be, which is why I hired someone. They planted the back anyway instead of making me aware of it so I could get the excavator back to correct it. What I was left with a couple weeks later when it finally rained was a pond at the back of my house. I realize the rough grade was not their fault, but they should have recognized the problem and made me aware of the situation so it could be resolved properly. Now that the rough grade is correct, and we checked it with a rotary laser, the landscaper looked at it again and immediately told me it's still wrong. How is it that He can see it by eye so easily now, but didn't bother to mention it when it was way off the first time? By the time this was all taken care of last summer, we were into the fall rainy season and didn't get a chance to do anything else with the yard. I feel I was getting blown off by using the rough grade as an excuse at the end of year by telling me it's wrong when it isn't. He did agree to redo the fine grade in the back and reseed the yard for free, and to patch low spots with a wheelbarrow and dirt by hand for an additional cost, but problem is far beyond patching by hand. I have had two different landscapers out to look at my situation and both said the same, they need to spray the yard dead with round up and start over from scratch. So now to do it a second time, I'm paying extra to have someone else undo what he has done, and start all over again.Desired Settlement: Total price for the project was $1,899. So far we have paid $1,549.50. The price of the retaining wall was $844 and we are happy with that installation, so I am not asking for any of that back. What I'm looking for is the $705.50 we have put towards the lawn that now needs to be redone. I should be, but am not, looking for the additional cost of the round up application to kill what is there or the cost of watering the lawn for a second year, so I believe a clear cut refund amount of $705.50 is due.
