Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/05/27) */
To whom it may concern. in regards to the 2005 Chevy Impala. The owners to this vehicle are either unable or unwilling to understand the issues they are having with their vehicles. They did call and ask for a quote to
diagnose an electrical...

problem. They ignore the, it is not possible to give an exact quote, but for most problems it is $70. The also do not explain that someone tore apart the dash and steering column and someone who didn't
know exactly what they were doing tried who knows what and rewired things. There Was even Speaker wire in lieu of computer wire.
There were repeated calls about how much is it going to cost, There was absolutely no way to know what it would take to get the car started, until you go through everything piece by piece and the car starts. It was unknown what was done to the vehicle, I don't believe any of that was understood. They did not want to understand. They just wanted their car fixed and for it to not cost anything. I believe the customers just figured they would get their car fixed and then come in here and swear at everyone until someone says just take your car and get out of here. The whole issue, which some of which I'm sure still persists, are from whomever tried to "fix" it before Us. This is the person they should have issue with. The car could only be in worse shape if it had been underwater or been in a fire.
After the car was started, and they found out what the bill Was going to cost. A veritable swear fest ensued. These people are some of the most foul mouth people we've ever had to deal with. When an option of taking everything back apart and charging $105 for our time plus the tow bills. More swearing ensued. No solution other than us fixing their car for' free was going to be acceptable.
When the customers asked for their old parts, it was explained to them, that they could have them If they paid the core charge. There was more swearing. There are certain car parts where the price includes an assumed core.
Among these are items such as rims, batteries, computers. When told that they could have the computer if they paid for the core, that was unacceptable, and more swearing happened.
I really don't need to be sweared at by anyone. And I don't need to fix people's cars for them. I did not break
these people's car. And I am not responsible for the damage that was done. They didn't want to just pay to have It fixed properly, And just not doing anything was not really what they wanted. Not one time in the nearly dozen phone calls that they made, did anyone say I am able to tell you exactly what it is going to cost to get this car
started. In fact the answer was it is impossible to give a quote on what it is going to take to fix your car, until your car is starting.
The whole problem, was, is, and still will be whomever butchered the cars wiring. That person not only didn't fix it one bit, but did a lot more damage. The wrong person is being sworn at and blamed for the issues. It would have cost a lot more money to fix it completely. However, to fix it would cost more if than the vehicle is worth if they abandoned It. And it became abundantly clear that anything short of their car being fixed completely for free was an acceptable option
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/06/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have read the response from the business and it is blatant lies. I have every single call log on both phones and not once other than the time that he called to say the car was ready did he call to discuss any prices. When I called prior to having my car towed there I spoke directly to carl their mechanic and he is the one who quoted the diagnostic at $70 he quoted the work at $250. So as a whole that would be $320 he never once said that he couldn't give quote. I contacted the franchise listed on the back of their receipt to make a complaint. That company which is titled [redacted], has no affiliation with Quick Change of Portage, as a matter of fact they don't even operate in the state of Indiana. I have faxed over a copy of their receipt to the company because they are going to proceed further into their own investigation and pursue charges because they are using a franchise as their backer of their warranties that are completely invalid. Also when I asked for my part back they never gave me an option to pay the core charge because they claim "they just had one laying around the shop". On the 11th day after picking up my car the same problem occurred again... I contacted the shop again and they told me he didn't think the computer was the problem that he would start with the ignition and I would be responsible for paying for it. Even though I had already paid once for him to "fix" it. After I told him that was unacceptable because his work was supposed to be under warranty for 90 days. he told me that he was not willing to even try to fix it that he was done speaking with me and dealing with me and for me to take him to court. I had my car towed to another shop, the mechanic there worked on my car and it ended up it was a piece on the back of the ignition switch that was loose. It was the only piece that was ever messed up on the car. He checked the body control module that portage quick change claims that they changed and in fact they did not it is still the original part on the car that came from the factory. Furthermore... all the codes had been cleared out prior to going to portage quick change for an emission testing site so there is not a way that he could have done a diagnostic test (for $140) and came back to any actual diagnosis. Everything that he said is blatant bold face lies. They claim that I wanted my car fixed for free that is not the case I have no problem paying for work that is done to my car however the work they claim to have done was never completed nor did they ever fix any type of problem that was actually going on. I have had to pay now 2 different shops to do the work that should have been done the first time. Carl and Portage quick change are scam artist.
